We do not have time slots. We leave the port 45 minutes after your ship docks. Please disembark as quickly as possible and be at the pick-up location no more than 45 minutes after your ship docks. We can pick you up in: Amber Cove, Taino Bay, and within the Puerto Plata city, ours service included all hotel of the zone. Amber Cove: the pick up will be outside of the port, after the principal gate, left side of the avenue. About 10 to 12 minutes walk. Taino Bay: the pick up will be at the main entrance, at the right side of the taxi station, outside of the door. About 10 minutes walk.

Edwin our tour guide director did an phenomenal job showing us around the city. I think the best part would be taking the tour through the RUM factory ( House Of Macorix ) and taking all those shots lol.

Met Francisco just outside the gate by the taxi stand. He was extremely friendly and courteous. He took us to a nice air conditioned van and gave us cold bottles of water. He introduced us to his driver, who was also very polite. I thought we would wait for other people to fill the van but surprise this is a private tour. Our first stop was the rum factory. Where you get to sample 8 versions of rum. After that tour we drove closer to the city and continued the tour. All the other stops besides the fort were within walking distance so we walked to various locations. There was no rushing. We asked to stop at a pharmacy and it was no problem. Francisco is very knowledgeable and well known around the area. If I could give more than 5 starts I would.

I love going to Punta Cuna and heard so many great reviews about Puerto Plata. It’s a beautiful place but we were hounded the entire time by tour merchants the entire time. It was difficult to enjoy the place for the harassment of being taken only to spot where people only wanted to sell us things. I can’t remember a location that we didn’t feel pressured to buy something. I don’t even have any moment of enjoyment. My husband and I were ready for the tour to end.

Edwin Tours did a wonderful job showing us the city of Puerto Plata as it was the first time for us to visit. We went to a factory, cigar factory, and chocolate store. We walked all over the city and saw Pink Street and Umbrella Street. We finally ended up at a fort. Edwin took very good care of us in his air conditioned car and cares for an older couple that was on the tour with us. He treated us like family.

Our family of 4 from Indiana felt that our tour with Edwin and Juan Francisco was just perfect! Not only did they cater to our wants, but made sure that we experienced local trades and production of island living! We were kept safe when walking around town and we even saw police presence made specifically for tourists. The price point, highlighted stops and shops, and individualized care made this excursion soooo much better than what our cruise line offered!

Poor Tour

Worst-tour-ever. Due to a plan change the driver didn’t show up for over an hour after telling us in an email to get off the ship as soon as possible. Because of the port rules in Amber Cove, we had more than a 1 mile walk to the area where pickup was done by tour operator. The vehicle was noisy and not we’ll make brained. The tour guide barely spoke English and we could not hear anything he said from the second row seats. He spent more time talking on his phone than giving us information. He got stuck in a parking lot curb and burnt enough rubber trying to get out which stunk up the vehicle for the rest of the day. He was personable, but poor at giving tour information. The stops on this tour were small retail stores that were high to medium pressure sales pitches. Total waste of time. The best part is that he stopped at a roadside/beachside bar so we could have a beer and enjoy the view. We went back about 2 hours early because we were done with him. The walk back to the ship was another mile in the heat. Very poor and cheap tour for the money. We would never do it again.

The tour was amazing and we’d definitely recommend. Our tour guide was Carlos and he was the absolute best! You feel like a VIP and get to ask all questions you feel like. I’d recommend this tour for sure and any others they have as well. We had already booked the excursions with other companies but I’m sure they will give you a worthwhile experience!

Pineapple tasting rum tour and chocolate factory. It was a great tour the only draw back was the distance from the ship to the departure point. The description said a 10 to 15 minute walk but it was really about a 25 minute walk and the meeting point was confusing. Also we had to wait about 30 minutes for other travelers who did not arrive on the stated departure time
