We were disappointed that this tour...
Linda_M, Apr 2018
We were disappointed that this tour was not the same as indicated in our tour description. There were others on the tour who had a different printed itinerary than we did. Our tour said we were supposed to have 3 hours in Antigua. We were walked around for about an hour and a half and then dropped off at the Jade Museum. Think kick-back for Viator Our tour did not mention touring the museum and store but others had it included in their description. This is a very neat old city and we would have liked time to visit some of the shops. There was no time for us to go anywhere other than the Jade Store. Very disappointing and that was a complaint voiced by everyone. We drove past an active volcano that was spewing out a lot of smoke. It would've been nice to have stopped for a picture but we had to see it out the bus window. Those on the wrong side of the bus didn't even get to see much of it. Our time at the Hot Springs was nice and the food was good. The tour bus large van was overloaded. Many were forced to ride for over an hour in the jump seats. When the road is bumpy and it is crowded it's no fun to sit in a seat that has half a back to support you. They definitely oversold. We saw some nice things but the tour could have been much improved. Always nice to get what you signed up for.

Great day trip to see Antigua and relax in the Hot Spring. Enjoyed lunch at the Hot Spring and soaking in the thermal circuit for 1 1/2 hours 4 pools with water temperature ranging from 41 Celsius to 24 C, then 37 C and 31 C before we went back to alternating between 41 C and 24 C. We also had choices of just soaking in any pools we wanted or going for a massage.

This tour was wonderful. Took about 90 minutes to get to Antigua - beautiful old city. Group was small which is exactly why we use Viator. Only 11 of us. the Hot springs were AMAZING. What a way to end the day - beautiful lunch, then right to the springs. They provide you with towels, very clean showers and changing rooms. They springs are at a hotel spa and use water from one of the volcanoes. you can also get a massage if you want to skip the circuit of the spring water. We would go back again.

Excellent guide very mature and knowledgable for 19 years.Beautiful colours and architecture.Actually saw one of the volcanos spurt steam into the air,a first for us but it happens several times a day apparently The trip left us wanting to know more about the country. We vow to come back We.preferred to stay in town than go to hot springs as it involves a lot of driving to get there.Get guide to show you the garages that convert American school buses to new and more colourful local buses. One of our best trips.i

Colonial Antigua is beautiful and we plan to go back. The Hot Springs is actually a spa/resort. Very nice indeed but not the jungle, tropical event that the description suggests.

Enjoyed very much. Our Guide was was great. Meal excellent at springs. The springs were fun other than the cold pool. Part of the experience. Only downside is persistence of people selling their wares

A good balance between the historical bustling Antigua and the relaxating hot springs. A very tasty lunch was provided.

A lovely way to spend the day in Guatemala! We walked through Antigua with our guide. The only issue was that the air conditioning on the bus was inadequate and it was a hot day. After our tour of Colonial Antigua, we traveled to a resort where we had a very nice lunch grilled chicken or tamarind chicken or vegetarian pizza which was huge! and a beverage and at that location, we experienced the hot springs. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was a 5 spa where you go from one hot pool to others of varying temperatures and the views were unbelievable!! The staff also provided complementary cold fruit drinks . Nice clean facilities they give you towels - change rooms, showers and they check your belongings for you.

We really weren't clear on what to expect--we knew Antigua was a world heritage site. Very interesting old colonial walled city. We were astounded by the hot springs--expecting to sit in a stream on rocks warmed by local volcanoes. In fact it is a high end resort with a variety of basins of varying temperatures. A real treat as we looked out on the greenery and volcanoes. Outstanding panoramic view. Excellent lunch after our trip to Antigua and our hot springs experience. The only problem was that our young tour guide, although energetic, did not have a microphone for the bus so that many of us could not hear his patter and explanations along the way. We also could have used a bathroom break as soon as we arrived in Antigua after waiting on the bus nearly an hour to get moving and a 90 minute drive over bumpy roads to Antigua. Spectacular scenery--including volcanoes spewing steam!

Great value! The trip came off exactly as planned with comfortable vans for transportation, knowledgeable guide, etc. Lunch was provided at the Hot Springs, and was EXCELLENT -- one of the best we have had on a tour. It seems that some of the trips from the tours from the ship were not nearly so good and had glitches disrupting the tours, none of which were encountered on our tour and at much lower cost -- we figure we got the one hour massage at the Hot Springs compliments of Celebrity!

Guatemala is a poor but beautiful country. Antigua is a pretty town surrounded by volcanoes and forests. The local guides Jose and Juan Pablo were the best part of the tour. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Spending tourist dollars here makes you feel like you're doing something good. ONE TIP: If you want a massage at the spa, make an appointment upon arrival. Otherwise, you may miss out on one of the best things about the resort. A 50 minute massage was only 30.

Very nice tour, Clean Vehicle, good guide Juan Pablo, lots to see and some nice shopping stops Hot Springs was not what we expected and would have liked to have some local food on the menu...who wants to eat Hamburgers in Guatemala?

This was a wonderful experience. Antigua has the most beautiful church's and the people are amazing. Loved the walk through town and all the information our guide, Adira, gave, she was very knowledgeable. We were then taken to the Hot Springs which was fabulous and lunch was amazing. Excellent day! The people of Guatemala are wonderful.
