    Equipment Dangerous
    LauraGeorgina_B, Mar 2020
I booked this trip for family. The tour guide was amazing but the equipment beyond unacceptable. After having to go back mid tour for a flat tyre on one of the bikes the other bicycles chains then snapped and my sister n law fell off her bike and has broken her ribs. We would not recommend this tour. Shame.
    Response from Host, Apr 2020
We are extremely alarmed by your statement regarding that a participant had broken her ribs due to a fall. We take these situations very seriously indeed. We are taking that you are providing the feedback on behalf of the said participants, namely your brother and his wife. We would appreciate it if they could contact us directly with so that we can investigate this immediately. We have not had any record of such an injury in all our 15 years running such programmes with almost deploying every other day, but as always, we can never be too careful and have stringent procedures in place to ensure that the safety of our participants remains at the highest priority. Regarding your comment on our bicycles. As you may not be aware, Pulau Ubin is away from the mainland and encompass traditional and cultural village inhabitant days. Please note that we are supporting the remaining incumbent villagers operating a business on Pulau Ubin. Not placing a basis on the faulty bicycles but to mitigate expectations that the bicycles being supplied are not competitive standards but rideable. We are aware that our supplier has retired some old bicycles, refurbished some others and replaced some brand new units. This process is still ongoing and we will expect to see better equipment progressively. Before the programme commences, our SOP dictates that our Adventure Leaders check through the bicycles via a recognised M-check method. These initial checks will qualify the rigidity and ride worthiness of the bicycles along with the brakes and air in the tyres; as basic requirements. We hope you understand that 1. the paths on Pulau Ubin are not perfectly paved and some semi off-road type of riding can be expected in many exploration areas. Although it is not regular for unexpected flat tyres along the way, it is still possible. 2. Chain breaks are highly unexpected occurrence and this episode has proven that it could still happen. We thank you for this feedback and will work with our supplier to minimise such occurrences, however, please pardon us on incidents due to circumstances that we have no control over. We are certain should you return, we would have better bicycles for you to use but we cannot fix the cycling routes. Apart from your reported bad experience with the bicycles and inconvenience, we are grateful that you have found our Adventure Leader proficient. We will extend this compliment to the team. Clients fulfilment is equally important to our team and we continuously seek to ensure we provide a positive takeaway for our clients and fulfilment is achieved. On preliminary investigations with our team, our Adventure Leader checks in with guest before and after the programme if our guests are physically ok. This procedure continues during every programme as we bounce information via interacting with the guest throughout the learning and exploring journey. We recorded that the lady guest did take a tumble and attained some light surface injuries, abrasion to elbows and knees. All our Adventure Leaders are First Aid certified. First Aid was administered on the spot. As far as can be seen and with the assurance of the guest to proceed, the programme continued without further incidents. After the programme, the guest parted cordially without raising any further issues. We appreciate that we cannot get it right all of the time but would hope that when we make a mistake, we really try to rectify it during the programme, to ensure that our guest leaves us feeling happy and fulfilled. Please do contact us directly so that we can make properly address this and make all parties feel better regarding this experience with us.

    TERENCE W, July 2017
Not our best cycle touring experience. Value for money very poor. Exorbitant cost for a very average guided cycle ride compared to similar tours we have experienced. Some incorrect details given regards location of bus required for transit to location caused delays in travel. No issue with the guide who was knowledgeable and courteous but in essence not much substance to the Tour. Cycles provided were not well serviced and limited gears available as a result.

This was a great tour that made us work hard in the Singapore heat. It was well paced and my quite fit 70 year old mother kept up with the cycling just fine. We saw wild pigs and some monkeys. Pack plenty of water, it's always hot and humid!

We wanted to see what it must have been like before Singapore was developed-- and this bike tour was a great way to see it. J.C. was our guide and he was polite, friendly, informative and enthusiastic. He showed us native plants, birds and we even caught a glimpse of a wild boar. We would recommend this tour heartily.

Pulau Ubin was a great escape from the busy city of Singapore. This tour covered most of the island and though there was a little bit of uphill, it wasn't that tough a ride. Our guide JC was very helpful and friendly, he just needs to speak a little slower!

This was an excellent experience we had. Our guide, Fadil was fantastic, very knowledgable as well as entertaining. A trip around the island was so worthwhile as it gave an insight into the original way of life in Singapore (in Kampong villages). This is definitely a must do.

Despite very hot and humid conditions, the tracks were mostly in shade so it was quite pleasant. Our tour guide was a local so had estensive knowledge of the island history, flora and fauna and he was easy to communicate with. He made sure we travelled on paths and at speeds that suited our age and fitness levels so we felt safe at all times. The island is quite beautiful and the actual riding time was about two hours, quite enough in thta heat. We would defintiely recommend it to others.

Had a great time. The guide was very considerate of our ages (72 and 71)' but we managed the ride with some walking.

Very nice experience! The guide was knowledgeable and well prepared. He is a native from the island and has an interesting story about everything you will pass by. The island is worth seeing especially when you have a certain ideas of a "modern" Singapore. What you will see here will surprise you.

This was a very worthwhile outing. Palau Ubin is a jungle park, a short ferry ride from Urban Singapore. The guide was local and knew where to find wildllife and had the backstory on what was happening on the island. I think both the bike outings and paddle outings would be a veyr good way to spend a day in Singapore.

The tour was very nice an interesting. You learn a lot about the nature and wild life on the island and see some nice lookout points. It is more a cycling tour than a mountainbike tour although you are riding on a mountainbike. For those who are eager to do mountainbike sports on Pulau Ubin this tour doesn't fit. But its a good start to get an overview over the island and do mountainbike sports afterwards. The quality of the bikes could be better, but you have the chance to upgrade your bike for an extra charge.

I did this tour 3 Mar 13 (AUD46.93). I loved it! This was my 4th trip to Sgp and I was determined NOT to go anywhere near Orchard Rd. I wanted to see the real Sgp with some peace, quiet and tranquility-away from crazy crowds. I took a taxi from V Hotel (MRT Lavender) to Changi Ferry terminal. 20 mins, approx SGD20. (Bus #2 from Victoria Rd). I boarded the bumboat for SGD2.50 each way. The little wooden boats don't go to timetable, they just go when they have 12 passengers (full boat). It was a lovely 15 min ride over to Pulau Ubin (Ubin Island). I met my tour guide, Zhiguang right on time at 9.15am. I was amazed I was the only rider, so I had a personal tour guide for my money. Bonus! We went and got our mountain bikes and took off. What a beautiful National Park. Very few residents - those there are still living in traditional style houses. I absolutely loved peddling around the sealed roads with Zhiguang. He is studying Sports Science at College and we had some great chats about fitness and Singapore in general. He has been coming to Ubin since 2007 so he knows the island really well. I loved peddling on the "blue trail" the easy off road circuit - a bit of gravel, mud and grass, a few lumps and bumps but nothing crazy for a beginner like me. There is also "black diamond" and "double black diamond" trail for the serious riders - but you wont be doing them on this tour (ha ha). I loved riding around and seeing the "Butterfly Hill" (counted 7 varieties of butterfly in just a few minutes), the "Secret Spice Garden", the waterlilly pond, the Shrine to German Girl, the old granite quarry (now a reservoir filled with water forming a beautiful lake) and the amazing views over to Malaysia - I didn't realise it was so close you could swim across. I had a blast! I was so sorry it was over at 1.30pm. I invited Zhiguang to some lunch at one of the local restaurants. I wanted to thank him for the best tour - I enjoyed it HEAPS more than shopping on Orchard Rd!
