The trip to Tortugas was one of the highlights of our vacation. We saw dolphins, lots of monkeys, and other wildlife. The island is beautiful. Our guide, Manuel, was wonderful. He was attentive and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure a lovely time. The entire crew was great. We truly enjoyed the experience.

Highly worth it! A must do full day experience!

From the moment we met Daniel at the end of the cruise ship dock pier, everything was perfectly done and coordinated. We were two couples traveling via cruise ship and we had an absolutely full day wonderful time thanks to Daniel! We saw monkeys, whales, dolphins, birds, local history, snorkeled and then topped off our day at a beautiful Island complete with swimming and a delicious lunch. Daniel went out of his way to make us feel special and for us to experience his beautiful country. Our boat captain was also wonderful and pointed out things for us to see while riding in the boat. All and all, money well spent and a fantastic day. Book this experience, you won't regret it! Thank you again for such a memorable day in Costa Rica.

We had a great day! The boat ride over was fun. We saw many dolphins and threw fruit to monkeys on an island! The hours on Tortuga Island were very relaxing. It was nice to have a dedicated spot that we could leave our stuff, and the lunch was good.

A great easy day on a great beach

This tour is essentially a day at the beach but for 6 of us coming off of a cruise ship, this was exactly what we needed. The tour operator Ms. Isabella Lopez had contacted us through WhatsApp with information including the name and a picture of our tour guide Ms. Veronica. We were met as expected. And with a gracious gesture, we were driven to a local pharmacy before the boat marina so one of our friends could have a prescription filled that had been left behind. Our panga was certainly swift and got us to the beach in good time. The beach location was fantastic with lounges for us supplied by the tour. It also included a small rum bar for some inexpensive drinks if you like. We did some snorkeling that was included from a common floating platform. The fish variety was great but the coral was non-existent. Most of it was washing up on the beach. The beach sand was great otherwise. The tour and boat staff laid out a fantastic lunch that was prepared by a cookhouse at the beach. Top notch lunch! Ms. Veronica and the boat staff were very accommodating and attentive. Certainly a great day on the beach for our group.

Snorkeling experience

The snorkeling was fantastic, thou crowded. Lunch was fine. Rest of the day needed a little more organization. I would recommend it for the snorkeling. Veronica did the best she could with what she had to work with.

This was such a fun trip. I would definitely recommend. The boat ride to the island was fun. We stopped to see Dolphins on the way. The snorkeling was amazing. On the island itself we had lunch and there were different fun options of things we could pick to do.

Boat trip to Tortuga Island overhyped tourist trap

Spending time on a beach in Tortuga island is nice, the place is beautiful for sure - but there are many other nice beaches in CR. For us - the motivation for the day trip was primarily the opportunity to snorkel & see underwater wildlife in what was supposed to be a unique location. The disappointment was absolute. There's literally nothing there. The coral reefs which once existed at the location are entirely gone. Nothing left but their old "bones" - the coral bases of the reef. It's sad really - like a graveyard. With the corals gone - there's very little of anything to see. Random schools of small fish just accentuate the loss. Also - the water is quite murky. If you are looking for beach activity & action - go to Jaco or Tamarindo (up north) - or any of dozens of other places. Or use your precious day in CR to go see something else. This boat trip was our only disappointment in CR - don't waste your time.

Lovely relaxed day out to Tortuga island. Plenty of fresh fruit and drinks with lunch on the beach. We had a private tour which was nice as we were in control of how long to snorkel for. The other tours were on quite large boats and would give a different experience.

Decent but misleading

To start with the positive: the crew was friendly. The boat was set up to hold about 12 people unlike the other companies that hold 20 or more on same size boat. They were very flexible based on what people wanted. Snorkeling pretty decent. Not world class (no fault of tour operator of course) but good and very little current. Nice beach area on Tortuga island with lots of tour boats in the area. Neat rock formations with photo ops from the boat. We didnt see dolphins but we live in Florida and see them all the time anyway (once again, no fault of the tour operator). Did see monkeys which is neat. Now the negative: first and foremost I booked a private tour and was assured by e-mail that would be the case. It was not. 2 other families were on the boat so I clearly paid too much as well. Also, as other reviews have noted about finding the place, apparently there is no place. I was to meet in front of a restaurant. There is a small dock directly across the street but it is not theirs. You have to crawl down a rock embankment and board from the beach. No big deal for us but elderly or infirm it would be impossible. Finally, we were to meet them at 8:30, again verified by an e-mail they sent me, we arrived at 8:05 and waited. At 8:45 I asked another tour operator if we were in the wrong place and he was kind enough to call them so they could come back and get us. Apparently they had already left! I have done many tours in CR over the yesrs and they are typically very well coordinated. this one not as much. If you have read this and are ok with it do it. Its fun. It just would have been nice to have the proper info from the outset.

As you can see on other reviews, we are known for taking ownership and caring deeply about our customers. In order to clarify, our dock is located in front of the restaurant (second dock) however that day the tide was too low to make the boat docking. This only happens a few days of the year. We really sorry for the misunderstanding about the non-existence of our dock. We can’t fix the past but you have my personal commitment to improve the way our staff serves every customer. Until then, please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of everyone on the team.
