What a great tour
Michelle_M, Dec 2022
We loved this tour. This was our second tour with this company and we were very happy with both. Bernie was our guide this evening and he did a great job and spotting things for us to see. We didn't get to see the two toed sloth that evening but we did see it another night. We saw, several different types of frogs along with a couple tarantulas, banana spider, white tailed deer, scorpions and tadpole pod of the glass frog. All is all we would recommend this tour.
Cool, unique experience

Had a great time with MOP (our tour guide). Keep in mind this is not a zoo—this is the wild. They cannot guarantee any particular sightings for you (I would guarantee a plethora of frogs), but we were privileged enough to see a snake in a tree waiting for a scrumptious snack to hop by, deer, a ridiculous number of different frog species, a toucan, a scorpion and a tarantula. We loved it I originally picked this company because they had rain boots. I only had Keen sandals and was afraid of something slithering across my feet. My in-laws thought it would be rigorous hiking and declined but it was established trails with a step here or there but nothing arduous. Completely enjoyed and highly recommend.
At first I was a bit...
Cecilie_M, Apr 2022
At first I was a bit dissappointed that the tour did not take place in the national park, but maybe I misunderstood. That being said, the guide (Mop) was great. He asked everyone in the group what they wished to see and then he found it. He also found many other animals than the other guides we met did.
Guide was passionate. Felt very safe.
David_A, Mar 2022
Guide was passionate. Felt very safe. Transportation was easy. So lots of cool critters at night. I would recommend this excursion to anyone.
Too expensive and underwhelming
Megan_N, Mar 2022
Seeing the tarantulas was the most exciting part of our trip. I was a bit disappointed with how many tours were happening at the same time as well as underwhelmed by our guides knowledge and ability to find animals and insects. If this tour was like $20 per person would have been totally worth it but for this price we were not impressed.
Faced my fears! Highly recommend.
Michael_S, Feb 2022
This was a really fun and unique experience. I am usually very afraid of snakes, spiders, and various bugs, but I figured this would be a great opportunity to face these fears. The tour guide was terrific and I felt safe the entire time. Walking through the jungle at night is an experience in itself. We ended up seeing roughly 5 species of frogs, 4 species of snakes, 2 tarantulas, 2 scorpions, a sloth, and a racoon, among other things. All very cool. The pickup and dropoff from my AirBnB was very convenient, and the rain boots provided were very useful. The guide was very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. It was cool to hear the histories of different plants and animals, as well as the meanings behind the different species. The small tour group (3 of us total) was perfect. Definitely recommend!
Best tour to see lots of animals & learn about CR's nature
Larissa_F, Nov 2021
I highly recommend this night tour!! :) Manu is an incredible guide - very knowledgable, passionate and fun. We saw many animals including sloths, all types of frogs, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions and even an ant eater. Muchas gracias por esta experiencia muy especial! Fue divertido!

Muchas Gracias, Larissa_F Your review is awesome, thank you super much for sharing your thoughts with us and future visitors. We really enjoy what we do and what we experience everyday touring with beautiful people like you. I can't believe we saw that beautiful anteater right a the end... Vielen Dank für Ihren Besuch in Costa Rica! Pura Vida! Manuel Cabalceta M. Manuel's Tours, Costa Rica.
Thank you!

We did two tours and had Carlos as our guide both times. He was amazing. His eye for finding the smallest micro fauna and interpreting all the sounds of nature was wonderful. His enthusiasm for nature was contagious. Pura vida!
Great experience for the whole family
Niko_S, Oct 2021
Our guide Carlos was really enthusiastic about every animal that we saw. It was great to hear so many things about each animal that we saw and also about wildlife in Costa Rica. Great experience.
Dont hesitate, book it.
Kali, Aug 2021
Mop was AMAZING! It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. It rained for most of it but they provide rainboots which made all the difference! We hadnt seen a sloth yet and he made sure we saw one before the tour was over. I cannot express enough how amazing this tour was. I highly highly recommend!
So fun!
Taylor_G, Aug 2021
So fun, highly recommend! Super knowledgeable & will take amazing photos for you! Feels adventurous to be trekking through the jungle at night! So kind as well, happily answered my unrelated questions about the area via messenger after the tour :)
Excellent tour with a knowledgeable and passionate guide!
Heather_R, July 2021
Carlos went above and beyond during our night tour! We hadn’t seen sloths yet, so he went out of his way to find one for us. He found 2! A 2 toed sloth and a 3 toed sloth. We saw frogs, spiders, tarantulas, scorpions, crickets, beetles, millipedes, a snake, lizards, and bats. Before it got dark, we saw some squirrel monkeys and a deer. It was amazing how easily he could find the animals. He spoke English very well and knew so much! They provide rain boots for us, which was really nice.
Best guide
Paula_F, July 2021
Our guide was very knowledgeable and very engaging. He knows where to find the night creatures and knows about their habits. We enjoyed this adventure very very much.
Definitely worthwhile experience!
Dennis_M, July 2021
We had a good time. Saw lots of wildlife. Deer, sloth, kinkajou, frogs, snakes, spiders, and lizards. Got to witness a cane snake eating tadpoles that were in egg sacks attached to a leaf. Very cool experience.
Unique jungle experience with a nature expert
Ivana_C, July 2021
The tour itself was fascinating, we walked through a pitch black jungle so I felt pretty adventurous already. We also saw so many different varieties of frogs, scorpions, crazy looking spiders, and a massive tarantula. Manuel was our guide and he should be hosting some jungle show on Netflix or something. Bear in mind that we were walking through the pitch black jungle with only a few flashlights, but he somehow spotted all of the animals we would have missed had we not had a guide. He’s also a super talented photographer who took National Geographic worthy pictures and was very knowledgeable about everything— from animals, to plants, to which mushrooms are edible, which ones are psychedelic, and which ones are poisonous. I’m so happy that we opted to do a tour— we got our own private nature walk!
Highlight of Costa Rica
Matthew_W, July 2021
The highlight of Costa Rica for me! Our guide was so knowledgeable and we were so fortunate to see many animals! I would 100% recommend this!
Another type of experience
Andy_W, June 2021
Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable about the jungle. It was lightly spooky but our guide made sure that we could be cautious around the more worrisome critters (and respectful of personal health safety preferences). We explored the general area beforehand during the day and the night tour was a whole new experience. Be sure to bring good rain gear, the forecast calls for it.
Great
Chigo_A, June 2021
Had a great time! Tour guide was knowledgeable and helped me with taking pictures. Transportation was also provided.
Great Guide
Jessica_M, May 2021
Great guides, very kind and professional. I was a little scared at first but I was really glad I experienced the jungle at night
Response from Host, May 2021
Thank you very much, Jessica_S. What a nice jungle hike we did! I'm happy that you did it and discovered that there is nothing wrong with walking through the dark rainforest at night. With the right tour guides and equipment, no problem at all! Pura Vida! Manuel Cabalceta M. Manuel’s Tours, Costa Rica.
Night trip with Carlos
Lavar_C, May 2021
We were with Carlos. He was a great guide showing us animals we would have never seen. Seen a crocodile, several frogs, tree crabs, scorpions, raccoons, spiders, sloths and a couple butterflies. We had a good time. I will say bring water because it can be quite exhausting
