What To Expect

Following pickup from your hotel in Rio, board a comfortable vehicle for the trip to one of the city's famous stadiums. Each stadium can hold over 100,000 screaming fans and have hosted many important matches over the years, including the legendary Pele's last game and the 1950 World Cup.

During the months of May through December, twenty teams compete to win the Brazilian Championship, which determines the best team in the country. Rio's Cup and Guanabara's Cup, Rio's series that make up the city's Championship, are played each year between January and May. The winner of each cup will face off in the final games to become Rio de Janeiro' championship team. Both of these championship series mean that exciting games are on year round.

All general admission seating is partially protected from the sun, and you will be accompanied by your knowledgeable guide at all times. See the Itinerary section below for the game schedule.

Great experience & a definite ‘bucket list’ event to see a game in the Maracana. The local team Fluminense won the match, the noise from the crowd was tremendous & the atmosphere was everything I expected it to be. Lucas V was our guide, he was excellent & his language skills were incredible, Lucas made our family feel safe & informed. The hotel pickup & drop off was seem less. A MUST do experience.

I had to change my out of my Vasco de Gama jersey to go into the stadium. At the gate no fans wearing a Vasco jersey were allowed thru due to safety concerns if they were mixed with the regular Fluminence crowd. Fortunately I had purchased a Pele jersey outside the stadium which I changed into at the gate and I used it to enter the stadium. My guide was great about it and held my Vasco jersey for me until after the match. The crowd was electric! Great game, great experience. David and his partner kept us safe and visited with us during the game. Also importantly David gave us his phone number for emergencies or in case we get separated from the rest of the group, which we did have to use, because we got separated from the group during my wardrobe change. Great experience. No on who visits Rio should miss it.

Mostly well organized, good guide

Was too nervous to do the game alone with no Portuguese! In the end it would have been fine but this was a secure way to do it, good guide and decent tickets Just badly organized with the parking and when we walked to the drop off point after the game the bands were not there 30 mins after game. Unfortunately delayed even more as baby has a small crash!

Poorly organized

Picked up on time. Dropped off on a side street 10 minute walk from stadium. Dodged marauding hooligans. Mad rush into the stadium where we never saw our guide again. Ended up taking a cab home. All in all very poorly organized and left us feeling very unsafe.

Stadium with great atmosphere

This wasn't a very important game in the schedule, but even at half capacity the atmosphere in the stadium was still excellent. The guide was helpful getting us into the stadium, which might have been hard without knowing Portuguese. It made the experience easy to enjoy.
