      Poor communication, just ok tour

      I booked this tour 6 months beforehand because of the good reviews. The communication with Josue the first day was good. He sent me a confirmation letter with my tour details. It included: 1. Tour of the island 2. Rum Company 3. Chocolate Factory 4. Rusty Fish Craft Market 5. Customize your tour opportunity 6. ROATAN letters picture opportunity I also told him that we wanted to see monkeys and sloths for $15 per person. Josue said to connect closer to the tour date to firm up the time and meeting place. I emailed one week before the tour by replying to his latest email. He asked if I booked my reservation. I told him that I did, and I sent him the confirmation letter that he created (realize he does many tours, so maybe he needed a refresher on my info). A day went by with no response. I emailed him again, asking if his confirmation letter helped him to find my reservation. Two more days went by without a response from him, so I used my wife's Facebook messenger to message him. Finally the next morning, he emailed confirming the details. I was satisfied and was excited for the trip. I told him that I would not have my phone on the morning of the tour, but that my wife would (she has a global phone plan). The morning of the tour, we arrive at the meeting location and there are about 25 other tour guides trying to sell you their tour. A little unnerving in a foreign country. Someone pointed me to Let's Go Roatan, but it was not Josue. This was a surprise to me. No communication from Josue. While Omar, the other guide, was nice, the lack of communication from Josue was very poor. I expected to tour with him. It was also a little unclear if Omar would be the driver and Josue the tour guide. After a few minutes, I realized that Josue was on another job. Probably he forgot about mine until I emailed him the week before, even though I booked many months in advance, and he already had another booking. The actual tour was ok. Technically Omar took us to all the places I listed above, but I wouldn't consider it a tour of the island. The tour was to be 6 hours and it ended up being only 2.5 without driving us around the island like I thought it would be. I asked Omar if he could drive us abound the island (48 miles wide) but he said construction prevented him from doing that. We probably ended up driving 5 miles one way and 5 miles back. Plus, I Omar didn't talk too much about the island and culture. We had to ask basic questions to learn about the island. Overall, pretty disappointed.

      We did a two hour tour with Omar. Omar was terrific and we highly recommend him. We went to the chocolate factory, skipped the rum factory and went to several craft markets. Omar has a good sense of humor and answered all questions about Roatan. We highly recommend this tour.

      Our guide was very flexible in our schedule. We were allowed to spend time enjoying each stop. She was informative and so very kind. I'm so sorry we can't remember her name. We liked her so much!!

      Have a great trip with Omar, he took us to all kind of nice places. We had a great lunch then we toured the beaches, and he told us a lot about the history.

      Easy communication, punctual, knowledgeable, many photo opportunities and made a couple of side visits included rambunctious monkeys, a very sweet sloth, souvenir shop and rum tour. Our family was not interested in an all day tour. The timing was perfect. Roatan is known as the second best snorkeling / diving place in the world. We’ll consider next trip when weather cooperates. Be aware that as you exit the port you will be bombarded by people willing to sell you tours and seem to want to assist you. Stay focused on your meeting spot which is just outside the gate! If driver not there at exact meeting time it’s because he can’t park at exit and has to loop around. We highly recommend the Roatan Private Tour!
