The length of the tour is 29 kilometers (18 miles), 60% of which is off-road. The level is easy but it requires a minimum of cycling experience (intermediate with a child seat or child extension).

Around 40% of this tour takes place in the City/Tiber cycle path. The tour runs on carefully chosen streets, but some traffic is unavoidable to connect the Appian Way to the Aqueducts Park. In the remaining 60% of the route (riding in the parks), there is no traffic.

Children from 140cm and above can independently ride an E-bike

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires a minimum number of travellers. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

My husband and I did the tour with our fabulous guide. It was nice to be on our own and not in a big group. This was an amazing way to see parts of Rome that you will not see on city tours. It was beautiful to ride along the Appian Way, to see the Acqueducts and a few other hidden treasures along the way. I highly recommend this if you are looking for something to do other than the treasures of the city center and the Vatican. As a warning - the ride on the Appian Way can be a bit rough with the rocky road but it is doable.

Great guide!! Wonderful path. To note: we went on a Sunday - it was a beautiful day, but slightly busy in the am with joggers and other bikers and folks walking around. You have to be comfortable riding a bike in sometimes crowded areas. The e-bikes were easy to use and necessary. Philip was knowledgeable and very confident in navigating Rome. Highly recommended!!

A really nice bike tour with an excellent guide. The bikes are really comfortable en the scenery is just stunning. Our guide thought us a lot about the aquaducts, the old latin roads and the via appia. A lot of information about all the old stories about all the buildings along the way. He even was so kind so offer us espresso along the way and showed us a lot of wonderfull places to have dinner. I would 100% recommend doing this tour if you visit rome. Not only to see the via appia but also because of the nice and professional guide and the fact that it’s a private tour, not in big groups.

This was one of the best experiences in our two weeks in Italy! Manuelle was an outstanding guide to bring the history alive for our family! He is young, energetic and fun, and engaged our teens perfectly. The electric bikes were so easy to use and we flew up hills with minimal effort. The tour was highly comprehensive. We started at Circus Maximus and the Roman bath, went to the catacomb of S. Sebastian and out to Latvia/ the country side. We saw ancient summer homes of emperors and even a huge, active animal pasture. The way through Trastevere along the river was beautiful and interesting as well. Thank you Manuelle!!!

This was a really fun and different way to tour the city. The e-bike made it so much easier and not so strenuous, but riding over the cobblestone roads can be a little hard on the butt! The only thing that I didn't realize about this tour is that the Catacombs portion is with a large tour group (like 30 people). We booked the private Appian Way catacombs Bike Tour thinking that the entire thing is "private" but actually the Catacombs portion is not. The bike tour guide stays with the bikes while you go on one of the "standard" tours at the Catacombs. It wasn't the worst thing, but just wasn't what I expected. I would've preferred for the entire experience to be "private" and catered to just me and my family (which is why i booked the private tour). Other that that, it was a lot of fun. My bike got a flat towards the end and but our guide handled it well and managed to make alternative arrangements quickly where we took a small detour and stopped by a bike shop to switch bikes.

I could not recommend this particular tour/experience more highly. Our tour guide Sabrina was very knowledgeable, the person in charge of bike set up was kind and accessible. This experience was excellent due to the high level of commitment Sabrina showed. That morning her car broke down. The tour company kindly arranged for us to enjoy espresso during our wait. When she did arrive, she more than made up for the missed time, even extending the tour experiences to make up for the short time we had to wait.
