What To Expect
Meet your guide in front of Ristorante La Carbonara in Rome’s Campo de’ Fiori at 5:15pm to start your 5:30pm walking tour. With your guide and group together, you’ll then set off on foot to discover the food of Rome.
Work your way past the lively pavement cafes and buskers, and explore the city center while your guide regales you with stories of Roman history and food. Stop for a classic aperitivo of wine and artisan salami, and learn about the salami’s PGI (protected geographical indication), which is also a hallmark of quality Italian food.
Sample more PGI produce at a historical cheese shop, and pair the cheese with another wine. You’ll also try a signature Rome dish of baccalà fritto, which is a tasty, salted cod. Visit two other eateries to chow down on crispy pizza — ordered by the slice — and sample supplì, the melt-in-the-mouth morsels of fried risotto rice that are typical Roman fare.
After a short walk to work off the food so far, you’ll take a seat in a cozy Trastevere restaurant for a light supper. Tuck into traditional Roman antipasto and two primi (first course) dishes, washed down with two varietals of wine. Finally, you’ll head outside to a gelateria to finish on a high note — with gelato, of course. Your tour ends around 9:30pm, outside the gelateria.

Don't hesitate to take this tour! We did this on our first night in Rome, and it was the best decision we could have made in terms of giving us a lay of the land and a taste of the food in this great city! Marcello was excellent! He took us to so many amazing places that we would have never discovered on our own. Our sons are 21 and 24 and they loved the tour as well. Marcello was really informative and told us some great stories. He also gave some great recommendations on where to eat during our stay. We went to a gelato place that he recommended every night of our stay! Take the tour. You will not be disappointed!

Our tour guide was knowledgeable & very friendly. She provided us with a lovely eating & walking experience.
Wouldn’t do again.

The food was okay - the first stop was excellent but second stop, where a substantial amount of time was spent, did not seem happy to have us. No introduction of the wine or food. They were unwilling to let us sit inside (in extreme heat), citing other reservations, yet the restaurant was empty when we arrived and when we left. The guide was nice but did not have a lot of information about the city. Most of the tour felt like random walking around Rome (probably 2 hours of walking), yet we did not hit any major sites. Overall, I was disappointed.
Wonderful walking food tour.

Our guide (Giuseppe) was phenomenal. His knowledge of the history, geography, local traditions and food made our time so much fun and informative. We learned more on this tour than many others we’ve done. Thanks
A must do tour. Totally enjoyable evening

I’m embarrassed to say but I cannot remember my guides name after 12 days here. But I do remember I had a very nice evening. My partner was sick with jet lag so I went on the tour by myself and never felt as I was alone. I love a food tour. Not only do you get to go to a restaurant where there’s not 500 other tourists you get to stop at little restaurants you would have missed. The food was very good and different at every stop.
Delicious food and amazing people!
Michelle_D, Apr 2022
We booked the evening tasting. We thought there was a limit to the number of people in the group but our group had 29. At first I was disappointed at the number but after the first tasting we were put at ease. There was more than enough food at every stop! Salamis, cheeses, olive oil, dinner with 2appetizers and 2 pastas. Then off for gelato. Wine was plentiful. We met people from all over. It was a great night with a great group of people.
Rome through a glass

The guide was very knowledgable and very friendly. The choice of restaurants and food was excellent and not something we would have found without the trip
Fun and delicious!

It was a lively walking tour, the guide had interesting history and recommendations on a lot of places we walked past. The group i was with was fun and of course, the food was terrific! Highly recommend! Don't eat lunch, I was stuffed! :)
A tour worthwile.
Ruud_G, Mar 2022
The guide knew a lot about Italian food and was very enthusiastic.
We visited some nice parts of Rome.
I’d do this again!
Chris_J, Nov 2021
This was an amazingly fun tour. The guide showed us many sights we would have missed if touring on our own. We had 5 stops at restaurants. Tasty bites were generously available from a cheese tasting to salamis, fried fish, rice croquettes and finally 2 kinds of pasta at a sit-down finale! Wine with each stop too. Our group was a blend of Americans, German and Scottish, all so nice. Thank you!
Scam! Don’t booked the food n wine tour from Nicom agency via Viator
