Upon arrival, enjoy walking tour of Florence to see big-name sights, beginning at the Duomo and continuing past the Ponte Vecchio, Via dei Cerretani, Piazza della Repubblica, and Piazza della Signoria, learning about the city's history as you go. Afterward, enjoy some free time to continue exploring Florence.

A few tips for your free time: check out the lovely views and landscapes in Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens, or if you’re into art, don't miss the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David sculpture. We are so glad we took this trip. At first we thought the day would be too long, but it was just the right amount of time. Our guides were efficient in getting us from place to place including at the train stations and were knowledgeable about the best things to see in Florence in one day. We were able to see all the highlights museum, top works, The David, etc. and still had free time to explore on our enjoy and enjoy the food and atmosphere of Florence. There was planned trip to a leather store which at first, I thought was a gimmick to get us to buy goods, but the explanation of Florence's history of leather making was interesting, brief and came with no pressure to buy. Remember there is a lot of walking on this tour, streets in Florence are hard to walk on so bring sturdy shoes. Also remember to keep up with the group. A couple walked too slowly and was left behind several times. Overall, highly recommended if you only have a day to see Florence.

Analisa was always nice and kind. Take care of us really good. She save me when I was lost. The local guide also very nice and experienced
So much to see, so little time.

Florence is beautifuland filled with art and history. The tour pointed our the hot spots. The highlights of the museum was great. We didn't get to spend much time in any one place. We just tried time see as much as possible in the short amount of time we had. We loan to return and stay a few days.

We had a wonderful day visiting. Our tour guide could have been a bit more professional, it's okay to be relaxed with clients, however I felt she was on a quest for personal time while not with us. Would have been nice to have her give us more ins and outs of the region we were in.
Rome to florence by high speed train

Museum waste of time, definitely not worth the 24 euros. Having 2 languages to translate slowed down the tour. Should have taken us to see David and not the museum. Our main tour guide was great and the lunch was good. The leather factory was way too e expensive.
FLORENCE AUGUST TRIP

Pickup was on time. The high-speed train was an hour late both coming and going. Florence was beautiful! The lunch was just horrible! Poor service and the food was poor quality and the brisket looked like dog food and tasted the same. The tour guide was unorganized and if it was not for a passenger they would have left us in the bathroom. We payed extra to see David. It was worth it! It is better to skip the lunch and pay your own lunch.

Tour was excellent

The trip from Rome to Florence was great, we were handled well by our tour guide then handed off nicely to our guide while in Florence. It was informative and fun! Enjoyed lunch and the free time at the end of the day to do a little shopping.
Problems with Transportation
Richard_H, June 2019
Trip would have been excellent if transportation to and from train station would have been as advertised We had to get to the train station by ourselves after we were told that the tour company would pick us up at our hotel. Then when we got to the train station after a long day in Florence our tour guide told us that we would be able to get a cab easily and left us on our own. We had a two hour wait at least if we wanted to get a cab so my wife myself and our handicap daughter had to walk to our hotel exhausted and unfamiliar with the route to our hotel We arrived at our hotel at 11:00 PM.We can not recommend Viator after this situation.
Amazing

Florence really deserves more than one day. Our tour guides were excellent with a lot of side information. We had a delicious lunch and plenty of free time. It's just so much to see.
Horrible Customer Service
Patrick T, May 2019
Worst tour experience ever encountered. We wanted to book the tour with hotel pick-up but there was no option to select for hotel pick-up in the Viator website. When we contacted the company via email to arrange pick-up, they refused and suggested we cancel the booking. WE SHOULD HAVE and this turned out to be a bad mistake. The tour guide assigned to lead the group from Rome to Florence was totally inexperienced. Did not give proper instructions. Just walked by herself ahead of the group with no flag or signs for us to follow. In the crowded train stations and in Florence, people in the back could not see her, and have no clue where she was going. She don't even turn around to check if her group is following behind her or if anyone is lagging behind. Lunch was more than an hour late because of extremely POOR booking arrangement. She blamed it on hotel when she could have better coordinated. STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO AVOID VIATOR AT ALL COST. Irresponsible company. We went with another tour agency on a Vatican City tour the next day, and it was the best experience of our trip.

If you can only do one day trip in Italy, make it this one! Francesca, our guide, was fantastic to our whole family. Her knowledge and kind demeanor was so welcome. The high speed train from Rome is definitely the way to go. Great way to see the countryside, and got us to Florence so much quicker so we could enjoy our day there. The Uffizi was specatcular and we really enjoyed the trip to the leather shop and an explanation of how they make their leather goods. Lunch was delicious and we had adequate time to do just about everything on our short list. We could honestly spend a lifetime in Florence...but if you only have a day book this trip.

lets start with the good stuff: florence is imazing. beutiful. the hight train ride was nice too. the local guide giovanni was great , really nice and knew a lot. the guide mauro was nice , but.the feeling was that if someone left behind is his problam they just set a meeting point to come to at the end of the tour/ as someone who travel alone, it felt to me a little un safe. they didnt gave enough time to sit and drink coffe althow we go out from rome really early and we didnt had time or place to drink coffee befor. they took us for a walking tour for a whuke and then to the uffizzi. after they took us to a leather and gold shop, complete waist of time. instead they should have invest a little bit more money, and take us with a minibus to piazzela michaeleangelo that everybody sais is tt has the most beutiful view on florence. the guides also recomend for this place to go on the free time, but i didnt found someone to go with so i missed it. if they just invest a little more money and took us there by a bus, it was much better then spend the time in a leather shop so we spend more money. after it we went to really really bad restaurant. the menu was fix menu without able to choose and the food was so awful that i ate one bite and left the rest. and the service was really bad too. i asked for an empty plate twice and didnt got it at all. the idea of going out for florence to one day tour is good, but to my opinion not this tour. i could come with hidht train alone' make some round by walking' go to the uffizzi alone and sit at a good restaurant, and it was completly the same, with less then a half price. so do it alone or choose an other tour for the same place.

It was a great day trip. Great train ride and wonderful sights in Florence. Just dont ask Flavia, the assistant tour guide, for Metro info, upon return to Rome. She will take off down the street!
The worse tour... not in English...
Deborah S, Apr 2018
The worse tour... not in English! Spanish only with a small amt of Bilingual. False advertisement! Guide in Florence is not educated in art history of the great masters. The uffizi museum was restored primarily by US friends from Florida. Also, the museums display plates are in Italian and English. The lunch was at 2 pm ... a typical FLORENTINE meal! Even PEPOSO ALLA FIORENTINA has flavor with peppercorns and garlic! I opted out for vegetarian, but my husband had this flavorless meat with out the seasonings. The wait staff was inattentive and did not care to serve us! I could go on and on about the inaccuracy of the script if this tour. Viator you should be ashamed at your quality control!

This was a lovely day tour from Rome. The high speed rail trip went smoothly and we were glad to find coffee and croissants available for purchase on the train, since we missed breakfast at our hotel. Florence is a beautiful city with gorgeous views, amazing art, lots of opportunities to eat and shop, and the most amazing cathedral exterior I have ever seen. Our guides were friendly and full of personality. There are only a couple of reasons I give this 4 instead of 5 stars and most of them are not the fault of the tour company. We had to wait quite a long time to get into the Uffizi gallery and once inside it felt rushed and crowded. The leather making stop, while interesting, was really just a sales pitch. Lunch was good and it was nice to be inside off our feet for a while. During our free time we hiked to the top of Michelangelo Point, which was breathtaking and then our family split up - some to shop and some to attempt to see the original David statue. We had been told that if we showed up at 4:30 we'd have enough time, but after waiting in line for over an hour we had to give up to meet our party at 6pm for departure. It was disappointing to spend so much of our time in Florence in line. At the return to the station in Rome we were told we'd need to walk back to our hotel, which was a surprise. Fortunately it was only a 10 minute walk. Despite a few hiccups the day was a good one - our shoppers enjoyed their time, we experienced a city with a very different personality than Rome, and we enjoyed the views from and comfort of the train.

Having only a short time in Rome and only one day to visit Florence, this tour makes sense. We got picked up at our hotel near the Vatican and taken to the meeting place and onto a small bus to the train station a couple of blocks away basically walking distance. Our guide was really nice a made sure that everyone was settled on the train. In Florence the guide was nice and we were on an English/Spanish tour. The double language tour got old really quickly because we spent a lot to time just waiting around to move through Florence. We got into the museum - skipping a long line, but then the double language thing made the tour go slow and got boring, so we moved ahead on our own, but we had not picked up a museum guide, so we kinda wandered aimlessly. We could still hear our guide with the wireless set, so we would check in on and off. The guides gave us suggestions of what to do for the afternoon and where to meet for the train ride home. The guide circled an area on our map for shopping- we walked far to get there, but there was no shopping, it was more of a residential neighborhood we were at the exact street. Otherwise was a good tour, but somewhat pricey.

It was a rainy day, and half of our group kept falling apart. One girl and her boyfriend left without telling the guide to go shopping, and another couple went shopping while on the tour. The rest of us waited in the rain for lunch. The day started for us at 5:45am since we were being picked up at 6:30am by the guides. Lunch didn't happen until 2:00! And the extra waiting around for other people was really annoying. The museum visit was extremely rushed, and I didn't feel like I got a good sense of Florence. Next time I'll go by myself and really take in the city.

Loved loved loved this trip. Our guide Andres was wonderful, the lunch not exactly upscale but tasty, and our tour of a beautiful leather store was a nice touch. Lots of walking, which was OK for me, but those with disabilities should be aware that it is a long day with lots of walking. I also appreciated the time we were given to explore by ourselves because my husband and I wanted to see some points of interest that were not part of this tour. Fantastic photos from this trip
