Worth paying for a guide

Dmitri was polite, good English and very informative about the history of catacombs and bones crypt. Defo worth paying to have him show you round otherwise all you would really see is tunnels and a load of bones .✔️

A fascinating, interesting and enjoyable tour. Excellently explained by our tour guide, Dmitry. A must experience, and piece of the puzzle, to expand on the other areas of roman history. This tour gives you the opportunity to experience what most visitors do not get to see.

Guide was great and shared his knowledge and passion for the work he does. More time can be spent in the museum after tour is done if the catacombs are visited first. Would recommend the museum list so you can stay more time.

A great guide for this 5 person tour

Dmitri was a great guide for this tour. En route to the catacombs (in a new 6-passenger van) he provided info of the sights as we drove past them. It was a small 5 person group which was perfect for this tour as the catacombs are a tight space. His English is perfect and he made the tour enjoyable all around.

Dimitri owns his own tour company and books through Viator. He was by far the most organized and most knowledgeable tour guide we had in Rome. Our tour group only had 4 people in it, which was THE BEST. We weren't waiting on a million people like other tour groups, and he was able to answer my many questions. If I had to do it over again, I would have booked every experience with Dimitri (Vatican, Colosseum, etc.) I cannot say enough how awesome he was and how much I enjoyed our tour. He's an awesome guy, and so smart.

The bone chapel and catacombs are a must -see and this tour was a perfect way to learn about them. Our tour guide Angela was super knowledgable about everything we saw, as well as being funny and interesting, and the small group size made it really easy to ask questions. She did everything she could to enhance the experience for us by personalising the tour to include exactly what we wanted to see. Originally, I thought the tour was quite pricey when booking, but the actual experience was worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Our guide was absolutely AMAZING! I can't remember his name but he was from Montreal and had fallen in love with Italy. He spoke french, english, and Italian all very well, and was incredibly knowledgeable and communicative, a fountain of information. Also funny and friendly, made everyone laugh. The tour contents were well worth the price and it was spellbinding to witness the art of the bone chapel. The transportation between locations was very luxurious, a private van, and our guide would point out interesting landmarks as we drove around. Would recommend to anyone!

The tour guide was informative and friendly and really made the experience. It was a little rushed so we didn't have a chance to buy souvenirs but everything else went smoothly. The guide even offered some tips about what we could do afterwards that were appreciated.

This is a very cool tour! I did not even expect it to be so interesting (came with a teenager who is into spooky stuff and boy did we get one!). I will not ruin the surprise for new visitors, let me just say - it is very interesting and unexpected. Bone Chapel is crazy unique place, catacombs are very interesting from historic point. Also it's cool (literally) so nice to visit on a hot summer day! Out guide, Dmitry was wonderful, very knowledgeable and we learned a lot of new and interesting facts from him. Tour was very well organized, transportation and all. I definitely recommend this even for kids and teenagers.

This was one of the best tours I have ever taken! Dimitri was an amazing tour guide and was so knowledgeable. It is clear that he loves Rome and sharing its charm and culture. The tour company keeps the groups small and it was very personal. We got a great sense of history, culture, religious history and Roman life with a few added stops to the itinerary. A family member booked this tour for me and I'm so glad! i would heartily recommend it to everyone!
