Tour guide Mauro was on time exactly in front of Santa Maria Degli Angeli church as described in instructions. He was very knowledgeable and could talk eloquently while driving safely amidst crazy Roman traffic. Catacombs were surprisingly large and deep. Note that all bodies have been removed & buried elsewhere, so don’t expect skeletons. Interesting history of early Christians in Rome.

Confusing meeting point and left without ys

Tour operator provided an address different than meeting location. We went to address and could not find them, they left without us and Vuatir would not refund us- seems your operator is believed over customer.

Thank you Ann for choosing Rome First choice tours for your catacomb tour and for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced but we hope you understand that our driver couldn’t wait longer than what he did (10 minutes after the pickup time), our operation person and the driver both tried to call you several times with no answer, we also send a message through Viator to see if you are on your way. Finally when you arrived (15 minutes after pickup time) you called us but it was too late. All the other 3 couples that joined this tour were already at the meeting point at 9:00 and they all waited for you. If it was a private tour our driver would wait for you till you come, but as this is a shared tour and there’s other members in the group, the driver couldn’t wait more than 10 minutes otherwise we would risk that the other members may complain on their turn (and it happened before). About a refund, we didn’t received any refund request from you. If you think you have the right for a refund (even partial) please send us a request through Viator and our accounting department will check it. Best regards Assem

Hidden gems

Convenient way to see several sights off of the typical tour itineraries. History of the catacombs was very interesting but it was a very generic tour. Seeing the keyhole was fascinating but I would recommend visiting the Vatican first as I think that would add more meaning to this particular gem. Seeing the gun fired over the city at noon was fun and not something we would have found on our own.

Wonderful private small group tour!!

We had a wonderful time with our guide Mido (hope I’m spelling his name correctly)! It was very private small group which was awesome compared to all the other tourist tours. Mido took us to several spots and dropped us off where we needed to be for our next tour at the Vatican in the afternoon. The catacombs visit was awesome- unbelievable visit. Mido was super knowledgeable and had the most amazing eye color— Woow! We highly recommend!!

The catacombs and the keyhole view of the Vatican Rotunda we our favorites. The guide could have spoken louder or had an amplifier system while driving .

Great driver who took us to some fun spots that we would have never done on our own. Great views and photo ops. The catacombs were very interesting. Appian way Is pretty and full of history. I suggest you take this tour. Worth the time and money.

A Great Tour of Little Known Wonders

Everything about the tour was perfect!! We met our guide Asem in front of the church in the Piazza. He was waiting to greet us and asked us and the other family what our primary interests were. The other family was interested more in scenery and architecture and we were more interested in history so he made sure we saw and learned about both!! We began promptly and as we drove to our first stop he gave us a brief overview of the history of the catacombs and the Appian Way and the Pyramid and the Embassy of Malta (where we saw the keyhole view of the Vatican). At each stop, Asem took the time to answer all our extra questions and he shared his impressive knowledge of Roman History for my son who is studying ancient Rome!!! We felt he geared our tour specifically to the history and culture of the people who lived here as that was our interest!! We were so impressed with Asem's knowledge of the area both inside and outside the ancient walls. At our last stop where we saw a scenic view of the city from a hill high above Trastevere, Asem suggested a wonderful local restaurant for us to stop and have lunch called La Scala. He was right...it was absolutely wonderful and the food was delicious and authentic!! We would highly recommend this tour to others who want to see some off the beaten path parts of Rome that other tourists might never see!!

Absolutely fantastic, probably the best trip we booked whilst in Rome, what a find!. Our host was Assem and he was kind, patient and knowledgeable. We were fortunate just to be a party of two so we had his full attention and Assem was very obliging, what a nice man and a credit to the tour operator. Such a great tour! Our guide was so knowledgeable and very informative. He made the extra effort to make sure we saw the cannon being shot off at noon. He also took to some some non attraction places that we didn’t even no about. A very great experience!

Our tour guide, though not knowing English, was very helpful and and efficient. We had a great time and were taken to several interesting places -- * The Aventine Keyhole * The Catacombs of Saint Callixtus * Pyramid of Caius Cestius * The Aurelian Walls * a fountain (but I do not remember the name) * noon cannon shot at Piazzale Garibaldi * a few other stops
