Highly recommended!

Heather was a great tour guide! She was energetic and knowledgeable. The tour covered important historical facts we may have missed without this tour.
Do NOT recommend this tour

Save yourself time and money by going directly to the museums for tickets. The guide didn’t show up and other employees were trying to fill in, but we spent more time waiting for them to get organized than we did on the actual tours. Of the 3.5 hour tour, we spent probably 45 minutes waiting in the square to check in and leave, 2 hours on a bus, and 45 minutes on actual tours. The catacomb tour was conducted by a catacomb museum employee and the crypt portion of the tour was literally just the audio recording provided by the museum itself. Booking the tours through this company provided no additional value than what would have been provided if we bought tickets for about 10 euros at each of the museums. I requested a refund because the experience was so bad, which I have never done before, and so far Viator has only agreed to refund 1 of the 4 tickets I purchased. Extremely disappointed that we wasted our valuable time in Rome on this experience.

We were on time waiting and one of the tour guides didn’t show so they offered to either drop us off at the tombs without any leader and get a partial refund or get a full refund. It’s a bummer to travel all this way, make reservations months in advance and not able to see the attraction. It’s not like you can reschedule as these things are booked months in advance by others. The colosseum cancelled our tour also while we were in flight to get here. That’s 2 tours of the sites cancelled.
Atypical excursion
Laura_C, May 2023
Definitely interesting… didn’t realized we’d be bussed to different locations- although bus was comfortable.
Excellent tour and Sammy was fantastic story teller
Susan_P, May 2023
The tour guides were awesome, the tours were amazing, but being "left" at the last tour place, and not returned to square where trip started, was a problem. Many other guests were complaining as well.
Great tour
Karen_S, May 2023
It was somewhat eerie, but very interesting. I would definitely recommend as gives another insight into Ancient Rome
From the heart
Rick_G, May 2023
I found this tour very informative but most enjoyable was the passion of the tour guides. They brought history to life!!
Average tour with a different running order to that advertised
Mark_V, May 2023
The running order of the tour wasn't as advertised on the website as it started with the catacombs rather than the crypt which gave us an issue as we had an evening appointment and missed probably the best part of the tour as we had to leave after the second stop. The bus was 10 minutes late which wouldn't normally be a problem in Rome but we were waiting in the rain which wasn't much fun. The Catacombs themselves were interesting and the basillica was a very quick stop.
NOT “small group”
Amanda_C, May 2023
We specifically booked this tour over others because it was advertised as small group, not to exceed 16 people. Our group had 36 people which made the experience feel disorganized and chaotic.
Interesting and Informative
Kevin_N, May 2023
At first we were not sure what to expect with all the talk about human remains and burial sites but as it turned out the tour was very informative and quite tastefully done. Our tour guide did a great job of explaining the crypts and especially the friars and their place in history. This tour is somewhat unique as it is the only catacomb inside the city walls of Rome and also the only one beneath a church. The bones are actually not all that creepy but more a very interesting work of art. I definitely think this tour is worth time and money.
Worth your time. Excellent.
Sharon_A, May 2023
Fiona and Lara were excellent guides. Could have stayed at the Crypt longer. So much history. Learned a lot
Great tour guides, OK tour
Nae_E, May 2023
Multiple parts to tour. Crypts and catacombs are the main events. Tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Please be aware that the catacombs contain no bones/remains. Also, the area is apparently somewhat radioactive. Overall an ok tour.
The group was over booked...
Stephanie_B, May 2023
The group was over booked that it hindered our experience. We felt that we missed out on some important information/ history since not everyone was able to squeeze into the rooms and couldn’t hear/ see what was being presented.
Ricardo_S, May 2023
Great experience and great tour. Both guide with plenty knowledge of the location. Recommended to visit
Skip this one
David_B, May 2023
The Crypts were interesting. No pictures allowed. The Catacombs were probably interesting, but the group was WAY to big. Could not hear or see anything from the guide. Not recommend
Ripp_ off
Bert_S, May 2023

A trip not to miss
Jayne_S, May 2023
Great trip, Vanessa the tour guide was superb. She has great English, is very informative and funny.
Guide was great! Drop off location not as specified
Jeannette_D, May 2023
The guide was great. We enjoyed all the locations. The only issue we had was that the return destination is the not the same as the departure location, as specified. We were left at a church that was a 20 min walk back to the beginning. We managed to find a subway, figure out how to buy tickets and cut the walk in half.
Tour was good but a little misleading when advertised as small group
Ronnie_K, May 2023
Tour was good but said it was a small group, I believe there was supposed to be 16 in our group It started out that way at the crypts but then had to take a bus to the Catacombs and there were other groups added to get there so the bus ended up being full and the remainder of the tour was combined with other groups
Unusual and macabre experience
Nancy_R, May 2023
Crypt and catacombs were interesting to see. Not a tour for claustrophobic individuals. Bone display were macabre.
Response from Host, May 2023
Hello Nancy_R, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small-Group Guided Tour with Transfers. We appreciate your positive comment about finding the crypts and catacombs interesting to see. We apologize if the tour was not suitable for individuals who experience claustrophobia. Exploring crypts and catacombs can indeed involve enclosed spaces, and we understand that this may not be comfortable for everyone. We recommend that individuals with claustrophobia consider their personal comfort levels before participating in this particular tour. Regarding the bone displays, we understand that they can evoke a macabre feeling for some visitors. The presence of human remains in certain areas of the catacombs serves as a historical reminder and can offer unique insights into the past. However, we acknowledge that this aspect may not appeal to everyone. We strive to provide diverse tour experiences, and we appreciate your feedback on this specific element. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us tailor our tours to meet the preferences and comfort levels of our customers. If there are any other concerns or suggestions you would like to share, please do not hesitate to reach out. We value your patronage and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with an improved experience in the future. Best regards, Edgar J. Communications Manager City Wonders
