What To Expect

Muir Woods National Monument and the village of Sausalito are two of the most popular things to do north of San Francisco. This convenient tour from the city makes it easy to check off both from your list, plus take a San Francisco Bay cruise for even more photo ops.

Your morning starts with a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, where you’ll stop to take in views from Vista Point on your way to Muir Woods. Enjoy ample time to walk along paths through the forest of old-growth coastal redwoods, known for being some of the oldest and tallest trees in the world.

Then head to Sausalito, a picturesque small town nestled between the Marin Headlands and San Francisco Bay on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take a walk on the waterfront, grab a snack (own expense) or check out the art galleries and shops. Once back in San Francisco, board your Bay Cruise departing from Pier 39.

Your narrated cruise takes you underneath the bridge (weather permitting) and past Alcatraz Island. Enjoy views of the city skyline and the local sea lions, and then end your tour with a drop-off at Pier 39.

We had a very nice tour guide Archie. He did a great job giving us the history and highlights of all the areas we visited. Our pick up location was easy to find (Union Square area). The only thing we were disappointed about is that our bay tour that we were going to take at 2:00 had just changed the day of the tour to the next time of 5:00 (the hours Changed because the schools were back in Session). Other than the time change it was definitely the best way to see Muir Woods. Sit back and relax

The Muir Woods were absolutely stunning and breathe taken! Loved the e ancient feel of the trees and the forest! The Sausalito tour was beautiful in itself and had great food and tourist shops! I’m from the east coast and I will most definitely be coming back to California with my friends next time and do this tour all over again! Thank you for the beautiful experience!

Tour was amazing nice coach bus. Driver was excellent, friendly, informative and professional. Muir woods was Serene a magnificent experience, Sausalito was a nice experience as well. Our driver recommended a restaurant and it was a good choice, Bay cruise was lovely as well, seeing the GGB from dry land earlier that morning and then on water the afternoon, was excellent. It was a great option to be able to have the flexibility of doing the bay cruise whenever u like (good to use up to 2 weeks after initial) Just a bit cold for us Floridians :) but it was a great tour overall.

Partly good, partly not

Party good - Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Bridge and Muir Woods are all spectacular and well worth the visit. This tour was an effective way to see them all, and our driver provided knowledgeable commentary about the city and some of its history. Partly not good - The bus smelled and was not clean, the driver had a terrible cough/sore throat and blamed allergies, might have been better for him to take a sick day. There are two ferry lines between Saucelito and SF and he gave us the schedule and info for the one we didn't have tickets for. The ferries dock at two different places.

I was born and raised in SF. Living in SF for 35 years I regret to say I had never visited Muir Woods. The woods have such a Jurrasic and Magestic feeling and appearance. The tour guide/driver was extremely knowledgeable and I learned a few things about SF I never knew. All in all great day. Our tour guide however was very unapproachable and seemed bothered to answer simple questions by all guests perhaps he was having a bad day as we were forwarned by the Initial check In attendant.

You won’t regret going to Muir Woods. I’ve never been someplace so serene, and beautiful. The bay cruise was so incredible. We didn’t have time to go inside Alcatraz but we went around the island. You won’t regret this tour!

A great combination of a walk in the woods and a bay cruise afterwards

Muir Woods is definitely worth a visit it’s so peaceful and such a lovely walk. I could have easily have stayed all day but only allowing 90 minutes is a good thing and let’s everyone see it without it becoming overcrowded. Michelle our guide that day was very knowledgeable and she tells you all you need to know and more. The bay cruise was an hour of amazing views of San Francisco, The Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Some views you only see from a boat. A really good tour.

This tour was great. Just me and my preteen on this trip. Muir Wood was beautiful and mystical. Our guide gave us great pointers on the perfect length walk with time to grab a coffee at the end. The tour also included a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for sightseeing and photo opportunity. Lastly we stopped in the quaint little town of Saulsalito where we checked out some cute shops, had an ice cream and took in nice scenery. Our guide was very good. He was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He gave good direction at each stop as to what there was to do within the time limits, when to return etc. He was also a great driver, navigating a 35’ bus up and down mountains.

I have never been to Sausalito and Muir Woods before, but the two places are so beautiful and this trip is definitely a great experience for me. This experience is definitely a special experience for me and I will consider taking my family with me in the future when I am visiting San Francisco again. Also, the driver/tour guide of the trip is very nice and his performance deserves to be recognized for sure. This trip have definitely exceeded my expectations.

Redwoods and San Fran and Food Oh My…!!

We started our honeymoon with this tour (Muir Woods, Saulsilto, San Francisco/Golden Gate). Muir Woods was absolutely beautiful. This National monument is a gem. It was so quiet and peaceful. Saulsilto had cute shops/boutiques and the food was great. We loved seeing the sea lions bask in the sun on Pier 39 and the ferry ride to the bridge and Alcatraz. Our travel driver was comical and very knowledgeable about all areas which made it interesting and fun.

Fun, relaxing and a perfect half day

Great tour!! Early start but so worth it to get to Muir Woods at 9am while still relatively quiet. Our tour guide was great, sharing lots of interesting facts on the journey and great food and drinks tips (fish tacos and pineapple margarita in Sausalito are highly recommended!). The bay cruise was fun, sadly for us the bridge was pretty covered in fog but we still got a good view when we reached it. Tips for the boat tour - however warm it seems you may need a jumper, and however cold it seems you may want to consider sunscreen as the cold wind can be deceptive!!
