We took a 3 hour drive along dirt roads to reach the site but it was well worth the journey.

Well put together tour
Youa_Y, Mar 2023
The guide and driver were polite and knowledgeable. The tour is thoughtfully put together in that it breaks up the long drive to Caracol with a cave visit. The swim at the river was the perfect ending to a hot day.
Best guide and driver.

Jason, our guide was most knowledgeable and informative. Our driver, Tate., negotiated the muddy roads expertly. We felt as if we were in very reliable hands.
Awesome Mayan ruins. Wildlife. Nature.
Craig_S, Mar 2023
It was fun to see howler monkey calls echoing through the Mayan plazas. Also a number of interesting birds were a bonus to the overall cool trip.

Our guide Jason was excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. He explained what we were going to do and see. We had an excellent day.
Interesting ruins and beautiful cave

Great tour with Mayan Walk. My husband, I, and our two boys (ages 7 and 9) had a private tour. The road to the ruins is very bumpy but we made it. The tour at the ruins lasted about 3 hours so if you have kids who have issues being still and focusing for a longer period of time, this may be difficult (our 7 year old struggled at times). The ruins are very interesting and the view at the top is breathtaking. The cave was a nice surprise and I didn’t expect it to be that large with beautiful cave formations. I wasn’t a big fan of the pools due to the water either being too shallow so that you constantly bump your knees and feet or being deep enough to not stand. There was no transition from shallow to deeper water, it was just all over the place. The rocks were also very slippery so it’s easy to fall if you are not careful. Overall, we had a good day and our guide was great and very informative.
Well with the ride!

Beautiful day for the tour. Saw a Jaguar crossing the road on the way back. Good experience all around.
Out of this world experience.

The 2 1/2 hour ride from San Ignacio to the reserve is dominated by unmaintained gravel roads--we were grateful no to be driving. Narrow bridges don't have rails and rivers can rise to flow over them as was the case for us. However, the destination was profound and made so much more so with our Mayan-decent tour guide who enriched the visit with so much meaning to enrich what we saw and trekked over. For instance knowing who had access to what grounds under our feet made the metropolis of Caracol come alive. What appears to be a level path through the trees became a well traversed road and municipal water management system. The rain made the road to the pools and cave too risky for our vehicle so that part of the excursion did not happen, sadly. However, the driver instilled confidence, which put us at ease when crossing bridges whose rivers were beginning to flow over rather than under. The entire adventure was conducted with excellence not found elsewhere. The greatest example was lunch. We returned from our long stroll of the entire archeological site, not to a wait, but to place settings where our plates were served as soon as we sat down--as if we were in a downtown restaurant, but no, here in one of the most remote locations in the world. Turns out our driver was as good at serving hot local cuisine as he was at navigating pot holes... a match to the enriching depth of information we had just experienced in a stroll through the first to seventh AD centuries.

Chemo our guide was beyond excellent! Highly recommend. Belize is unbelizeable. We travelled all over the country
Beautiful day in the jungle!

We had a wonderful guide - O’Neil who was super friendly and thorough. You can tell he studied a lot and knew much about the area and history. Saw some great ruins as well as heard and saw monkeys and other animals which made it extra special.
Mayan ruins definitely worth your coming!

The whole ruins were so magnificent!!! Awesome construction and arrangement in this ancient city. Our guide Mr. Anselmo gave us a very deep, detail and clear introduction and interpretation. That was so comprehensible. I could almost imagine the historical busy traffic system showing in this red city! And the cave tour was nice as well. We climbed on, in and even went through the river inside. Mr. Anselmo told us many stories about the history and ecosystem there. I appreciated his considerate hospitality and kindly sharing his knowledge. The 11-hr tour fulfill our curiosity and mind. So lucky to join the journey. (In this season, not many people, somehow we had like a private tour. We were the first arriving at the ruins and almost the final one to leave. That was great too!)
Ruins, caves, birds, swimming
Abigail_W, June 2021
Our guide, Oscar, was a wonderful person to show us the region. We all had a great time chatting on the drive and walking through the ruins. Oscar set a path for us through the park that saved the highlight for the end, building anticipation. Plus for birders, he someone managed to spot a group of macaws that I could barely see. This is an excellent day trip from San Ignacio.
Spectacular
Jim_D, Apr 2021
Ancelmo, gave us the best possible tour of Caracol. His knowledge of the history of this site and the Mayan culture was remarkable. We had the whole place to ourselves for the first hour. The site is spectacular and and we had an unforgettable tour!
Excellent Tour Guides
Bart_T, Feb 2020
Our tour guides Julio and Oscar were very knowledgeable about the history of Caracol, as well as Belize in general. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see Rio Frio Cave due to the road being too muddy to cross.
Caracol visit
Robin_B, Dec 2018
It was a fascinating adventure. We took a 3 hour drive along dirt roads to reach the site but it was well worth the journey. Had a great guide and it was not completely filled with tourists. Other sites have much more traffic. I would definitely recommend this trip to my friends... I look forward to seeing more of Belize.
Anstrende Strassen aber die Höhle ist ein MUSS
