Finding nature in the city

The walking tour takes you mostly over campus grounds of the University of Costa Rica. Cali, the tour guide, did an excellent job pointing out birds, bees, plants and sloths and provided interesting facts. I would recommend this walking tour to anyone.

So glad we found this tour. We had been to National Park but only saw sloths at a big distance, at the Uni we got up so close it was Amazing ! Our guide Lu was very passionate about the flora and fauna and was a wonderful guide. Highly recommended this tour.

Obtaining information relative to the native plants and birds. However, it was made out to show sloths but only one was actually viable yet it was noted that there were 28 at the University.

Rico was a friendly, interesting & knowledgeable guide. We heard and saw unique flowers, beautiful birds, sleeping sloths in a jungle in the middle of the city at the University. Spectacular photos with Rigo’s spotting scope obtained and shared. Tour highly recommended.

Ishmael gave us a super experience around the university campus. We saw a motmot (pictured), leaf cutting ants, and a couple of sloths. He is very good at spotting animals and explaining their habits. We also met some nice people visiting from other countries. It was easy to get to the meeting place by Uber. His English is excellent and he was very easy to understand.
Nature walk tour with Ismael -SUPERIOR

Our group met with guide Ismäel to tour the grounds of the university of Costa Rica in San Jose discovering many beautiful plant, bird, insect and animal species, which occupy the University grounds. The tour was fascinating and informative, and Ismael our guide sought out and presented with much pride in his education of his country, and with the desire to keep moving forward with conservation for the benefit of the natural life in Costa Rica and other areas around the world. Ismael was incredibly knowledgeable with all species and plants discovered through his keen eye and sound familiarity. Extremely enjoyable, I would do it again if I could, highly recommend.

I absolutely enjoyed the guide he was very informative and helpful. I saw and learned so much in a small amount of time. I had fun learning about Costa Rican flora, fauna and sloths. Great tour and worth it.

The addition of the tour guide’s telescope to pictures of the sloths increased definition and we were even able to shoot a video of a young male two toed sloth’s active searching for food. Insight into the work of the Biologists at the University to renovate the Costa Rican ecosystem was enlightening and passionately delivered by our knowledgeable guide Luis.

This was cool. I’m not into nature, but wanted to try something different. The experience was just that. I learned a lot from all the others who are very interested in nature. We saw many birds, insects, plants and a few sloths. The sloths were all relaxing or sleeping, but overall it was cool.

I had a surprisingly good time on this tour. The tour leader was extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter and was able to answer any and all questions posed to him. It was quite fun spotting sloths on the UCR campus, and the bird watching was an added bonus.

Pablo was amazing! Super friendly, super knowledgeable and did a great job identifying birds that we saw. Cute little tour and perfect for small children or older people. We saw sloths and different birds and plants!
