I was super excited about this tour, I enjoyed the quick stop at the coffee plantation and enjoyed the included breakfast. But the weather was windy and misty at the volcano so wasn’t able to see the crater so that was a major bummer.

It was a nice tour, they picked up on time and we have a nice trip to Poas VOLCANO. We stopped for breakfast but the waitress didn't speak English very well and he didn't understood when other tourists asked about other options for breakfast. I think they could do it much better. Unfortunately, the volcano area was very foggy but I enjoyed the walk.

We signed up for a half day tour and the guide went above and beyond taking us to a lunch spot and a coffee stop along the way. So nice to be driven up to the volcano and have information. We enjoyed the volcano and driving up from San Jose through all the eco zones.

The guide was kind of rude and unpleasant. For the price ($100) I expected more. No breakfast, a short visit to a coffee farm. The entire tour felt rushed. I would book with a more reputable company next time.

Our guide was Edgar and he was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We booked the poas volcano tour and on our way he showed us the coffee plantation and we had a coffee. And on our way back he stopped at somewhere where we got strawberries! It was great. Would recommend!

The tour was amazing and beyond our expectations! Our guide took us to many places on the way to the volcano (coffee field, wine and cheese tasting) and had a lot of knowledge to share about Costa Rica. We had a great time and the tour lasted for about 5 hours

View into an active volcano’s crater!!!!

This is a must see experience while visiting San Jose. It is an active volcano, at our visit in February, the park just reopened after a two year closure due to an eruption. Entrance into the park is limited. You or your tour group MUST have a timed reservation. You will be required to wear a helmet, be escorted in a small group by a guide and only allowed at the top for 20 minutes. (Plenty of time) An ambulance type vehicle can transport the handicapped to the top. ALL concessions, and facilities except for restrooms at the entrance station are closed. No concessions or restrooms at the top. The view into the crater may be clouded over! Best to go early in the morning (by 9) and check the website and webcam for weather. If there are clouds... you will not see inside the crater! Or get your money back! If it is clear, the view is awesome! There are steam vents located around the crater’s lake that spew steam across the water and into the air. The desolate area around the crater edge shows the effects of the eruptions. Yellow paint circles the potholes made in the cement and metal railings from the last eruption. This tour stopped at a beautiful coffee plantation and we waited there until our appointed time.
