Ok tour, not as long as indicated
Jonas_Z, Jan 2022
The Tour started out great and the people were nice. However we expected the tour to be two hours as advertised and it ended after exactly one hour, with the last 15 minutes being quite boring. It was quite Interesting to hear about the chocolate history and I believe they could have explained and shared much more on this. It was New Year’s Eve in San José when we came, so maybe they were rushed but I felt disappointed afterwards.
The whole experience was...

The whole experience was less than an hour. We definitely learned new things about the chocolate. The tour is overpriced.

Premier Experience

I have travelled extensively and am a firm believer in these types of experiences. This one, however, was perhaps amongst the 2 or 3 best that I have ever had. The two hostesses, Carolina and Jenny, were both extraordinary people, knowledgeable and so personable. I truly had no idea about the history of chocolate and how the cacao plant grows and is processed from the raw plant to the wonderful chocolate we all love. in fact, after listening and learning for nearly 2-1/2 hours, I can now truly appreciate GOOD chocolate, knowing the entire process from plant to edible.
There is no door marking of Botanico Chocolate, because the building is an historic structure and CR doesn't allow signs. Just stand by the tree near where you think you should be and someone will come down 15 mintes before the experience begins to gather you.
Do not miss this adventure if you love history, cooking and of course chocolate. By the way, you get to taste and eat some all along the process that is demonstrated.
Hands on and tastings.

If I could give this 10 stars I would. The ladies who present this tour made it a memorable EXPERIENCE. There space is lovely and they are quite passionate about their cacao. I learned so much and enjoyed every moment. I only wish there was chocolate to purchase at the end of the experience. Thank you ladies for inviting us into your shop.
Incredible Chocolate Tour

This was definitely a wonderful afternoon. From the history telling of CACAO to the sampling and making of our own piece at the end I was very impressed with the whole thing. It is really worth it.
Amazing Authentic and Memorable Afternoon

My husband and I had the pleasure to spend the afternoon with Carolina and Jenny yesterday. I booked this thinking it would be fun and historical and it surpassed all of our expectations. The ladies took us on the journey of cacao and their own journey of building their own business through respecting its roots. Lovely experience in every way and the highlight of our time in San Jose!
Great hosts

Very fun and informative tour. Would highly recommend for anyone who has a spare two hours. And who doesn't for chocolate!
