What To Expect

Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.

Hear tales from the past, like the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.

It was raining the day we went so there were some puddles to deal with so wear comfortable shoes that are appropriate for the weather.
The tour is only one hour, so great for kids.

We’re a long time resident of Seattle but this is the first time we’ve gone on this tour. I’ve seen photos of old Seattle but it was great to see the actual remnants firsthand. Highly recommended for visitors and locals. Our guide was fantastic!

It was very interesting to learn about the history of Seattle. It actually helped out a lot and we shared the info we learned with our friends that didn't go on the tour. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because in a large group it's hard to hear the guide if you are in the back.

Richard was our guide. This tour was highly recommended by a different tour operator, and also based on the reviews, I had my hopes up. I was let down. It was not as good as I was led to believe. Not as much history or story telling.. Just ok.

Dave was an awesome tour guide. He had some good puns even though the group wasn't showing him the love! He gave some great history lessons and I wasn't bored, which says a lot! I would definitely recommend this tour. It isn't too short and isn't too long.

Mike, our tour guide was great. Share what he knows about Seattle's history with us. It's not a bad tours. It does require some walking and climbing starts, so you have knee issues or can't stand too long, better check before you purchase the tour. This 2nd time I visited Seattle and 2nd time to join underground tour. It's very different than first time I visited but still very nice tour to join.
