Get a look at the devastation caused by the 1980 eruption of Mount St Helens, an active stratovolcano located south of Seattle. This private day trip with a personal guide brings you up close to the blast site of the national monument, brought to the world's attention when it exploded hot lava 15 miles (24 km) into the atmosphere. You’ll visit two interpretive centers to learn about geological features and the slow return of its native flora. View the mountainside from Johnston Ride Observatory and have lunch at a riverside restaurant.

Mount Saint Helens with Cheryl’s Northwest tours
Nancy_H, Dec 2020
“Cheryl” was treasure during this tour. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and humor were infectious. A real delight. The drive on its own was informative and fantastic. Incredible views everywhere you look. When entering the park, you are treated with teasing views of Mount St. Helens as you begin to wind around her. Every turn brings your closer. Every turn revels a new view. We stopped for lunch with a beautiful view overlooking the valley of the changing leaves, and Mt. St. Helens. A starling jay even hopped along to investigate us which was exciting for we had never previously viewed one. It is a beautiful bird. Then we arrived at our destination. We had an exceptional view from the terrace that was spectacular. There are no words to describe Mount St Helens when you begin to view her. Except awe. Pictures do not show you her size, colors, or beauty she offers. We were the only people when arriving which added to her awe. The colors melded together like a beautiful painting. It was simply breathtaking. Pictures do not do her justice. Cheryl’s Northwest tours exceed our expectations we even added additional trips and plan to use again next time we are in Seattle. Highly recommend booking with her.

Private Mt. Saint Helens Monument Day Trip Enjoyed
Marilyn_T, Aug 2019
Absolutely enjoyed our private tour of MSHMDay Trip with Cheryl's Northwest Tours--Cheryl knew the ropes to show us a detailed great road trip to and from the mountain. Cheryl is an experienced, excellent driver with a pleasantly happy personality all the way and back! She detailed the trip beautifully with her knowledge and expertise' of information. Great lunch out & vehicle very clean.
You would not be disappointed with her as your guide. MT & Uncle D

It was so great!
Gary_S, May 2019
It was really nice to have our own private tour. My son and I both learned a lot. Cheryl was warm and kind and friendly and open to whatever we wanted to do. Even though one of the site destinations was closed, Cheryl improvised and we took a great hike. We wanted to get closer to the actual mountain. She took us as far as we could go.
Response from Host, May 2019
Yes, the first Visitor Center was open and the final destination, Johnston Ridge, opened 3 days later than our tour. I called ahead, but only talked to the first Visitors Center. The hummocks walk was interesting. Thank you Gary for your review.
