What To Expect

Once you have selected your choice of performance at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House, simply make your own way to the legendary performing arts venue for a quintessential Sydney experience.

Emerging stars join longtime favorites for Opera Australia's seasonal opera performances. Operas are performed in their original languages (mostly Italian), with subtitles in English projected on a screen above the stage.

Bars inside the Sydney Opera House open one hour prior to performance time — arrive early to enjoy a pre-theater drink (own expense) and admire sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and the Harbour Bridge.

Includes a Performance ticket to an Opera performed Live at the Sydney Opera House. Opera Australia's 2022 Season includes performances of La Boheme, Turandot, Otello, Law Juive, Attila, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly and others. Opera Australia's 2023 Season includes performances of Don Giovanni, La Bohème, Adriana Lecouvreur, Rigoletto, Aida, The Tales of Hoffman. Performance times vary from 2.5 - 4 hours dependent on Opera Performance selected.

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Please ask staff for assistance with receivers which are available from the Concert Hall and Opera Theatre cloak rooms and in the Drama Theatre, Playhouse and The Studio foyers.
  • Dogs or any animals trained to assist people with disabilities are welcome inside all theatres and restaurants.
  • A number of spaces are available for wheelchairs in each theatre at the Sydney Opera House. Wheelchairs are available from the Stage Door for use by patrons free of charge. Wheelchair access is by ramp from the southern entrance of the Concourse. Undercover wheelchair access is available from Stage Door and the Sydney Opera House Car Park. It is essential that you specify any needs when proceeding with your booking.
  • Performances run on specific dates and times. These dates are provided and times will vary depending on the date selected.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

It’s a bucket list item to see a live opera performance at the Sydney Opera House! Toured the building in a vip tour, had dinner at the fabulous Bennelong restaurant, then enjoyed and evening of opera with world class talent!

The performances and music were exceptional. We opted for "best available" tickets and were very impressed by the ones we received, given that it was a full house and we booked the morning of the opera. The costumes and sets were well done, and the lead male was exceptional. And, of course, the Opera House acoustics were superb.

A little disappointed that there were only four performers, but they were wonderful. But you could def. tell it was just a moneymaker for them for those just off the cruise ship. ACOUSTICS WERE INCREDIBLE!

Our tickets were waiting for us at the ticket counter inside the Opera House. Everything went smoothly. It's a very nice facility and we enjoyed the quality performance that evening. And we checked another item off our Bucket List! We were able to call for an Uber ride just a short distance out front of the opera house.
