Make your own way to Handa Opera's stunning waterside venue at Mrs Macquarie's Point, within Sydney's picturesque Royal Botanic Gardens.

Be ready for mystery filled performance of Madama Butterfly, Fireworks light up the sky at every performance.

You can arrive as early as 5pm to enter the open-air complex. Water taxis provide a stylish ride to the venue, and other public transportation and shuttle buses run regularly (transport at own expense). Food and drinks are available for purchase at the on-site bar and sit-down restaurant, with tables that showcase stunning views of the sunset, and the illuminated Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Have your choice of five seating reserves when booking. Dress for the evening's weather conditions and the outdoor venue. The performance runs for a total of approximately 2.5 hours with intermission. Handa Opera promises a memorable evening out in Sydney.

The opera was beautifully placed in the botanical gardens of Sydney all outside with the skyline of the city as the background. The opera was perfectly sung and the Sydney orchestra was top notch. So glad there was no rain ,it was perfect!

The setting is breathtakingly beautiful and the cast outstanding. Even though it rained (actually bucketed) we enjoyed the entire experience. The rain engendered a sense of camaraderie between performers & audience. The performers were not daunted by the downpour & we celebrated their professionalism & resilience. We could recommend the show to everyone.

The whole show is magnificient. Even the 30-min recess is worth viewing when the crew remade the whole stage. Sydney Harbour exquisite view provides an amazing background. Make sure to arrive early to not miss any minute.

Stunning back drop of the opera house and bridge. Beautiful singing and flawless performance. Fireworks were disappointing and over in seconds. My low score was due to poor instruction finding the venue. The gates at the Botanical gardens are all closed at 6pm so accessing the venue needed to be via the Domain gate. We wandered around with at least 20 other people trying to find the venue for over 1 hour Thankfully we found a local resident to guide us there and arrived with 2 minutes to spare before the show started. Coming home we took a taxi which was outside the gates and there is also a shuttle bus and water taxi available.

Unbelievable experience seeing The Phantom of the Opera at the outdoor stage! Totally iconic. We will remember this for the rest of our lives... And we will be back! Get there around 5 to get a good table at the outdoor Opera Restaurant, and leave time to take a water taxi to the outdoor stage!

The show was absolutely brilliant! Amazing sets, great performers, beautiful night!!! We were lucky with the weather. I should have picked up the tickets from the box office. I didn't read that, so there was some confusion initially. We had wonderful seats. The production and whole experience was 10 out of 10!

Beautiful opera, but access difficult

We enjoyed the experience with the opera outside on such a beautiful night. Unfortunately, walking to and from the venue, up the stairs and down to get food, toilet, etc was quite difficult for my husband. And then getting a taxi at the end of the evening, we were forced to stand and wait for a very long time. There were no provisions that we could see for people with a mobility disability. That was disappointing.
