What To Expect

Make your own way to the boat dock at Circular Quay to board the spacious vessel that takes you out on the waters of Sydney Harbour. Soak up views of the waterfront, skyline, and famous landmarks including Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, and Fort Denison as your boat cruises across the scenic harbor to the north shore, where you disembark for the zoo.

Once inside the zoo, enjoy the many exhibits at your own pace. More than 2,900 animals live here in 10 themed areas—including Wild Australia, Wild Asia, and the Great Southern Oceans. The enclosures mimic the natural habitat of each creature. Check the daily schedule for keeper talks, which focus on animals such as Tasmanian devils, little penguins, giraffes, lemurs, and koalas. You may want to watch the seals in action at Seal Theatre or catch the free-flight bird show, where birds of prey demonstrate their hunting skills.

Enjoy sweeping views of iconic sights such as Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House both from your boat cruise and the Taronga Zoo, aka 'the zoo with the view.'

Taronga Zoo also has many picnic areas; feel free to bring a picnic basket and enjoy lunch with views of Sydney Harbour, or purchase food at one of the on-site cafes or restaurants. When you have finished your zoo visit, simply return to the dock to catch the cruise back to Circular Quay.

I was not impressed with Taronga Zoo. A lot of the enclosures were empty: no chimpanzees, no gorillas, no zebra and many others empty. I do not feel it is worth money I paid.

Very disappointing. With all the hype surrounding Taronga Zoo I expected so much more. The ferry to and from was fine but the experience at the zoo itself was lacking. I have been to other zoos within Australia that are much better. This is a hard pass for me.

The ferry was nice and smooth. The zoo was going through major renovation, so many animals could not be seen. The view toward Sidney’s was amazing and it made the trip worth wile. The animals we saw, were very well taken care and their areas were very clean. Unfortunately, the human grounds were quite neglected.. We were happy to see so many people, many children enjoying the lace, but it was very very crowded.

Taronga Zoo is great and meet a lot of animals. However, sky safara is not available, very disappointed and not ve informed in advance 😕 And the ferry trip is very limited, so we need to pay extra fare while return and wait over an hour for ferry entry. Really unsatisfy. Don't know why we need to buy ferry tickets indeed, very inflexible.

I booked my tickets whilst docking on the P&O Pacific Adventure. Within 1 minute I noticed I was charged USD money instead of AUD money so I requested to cancel my ticket. No where on the add did it say I would be charged USD, it just gave a price saying ' from 50.56.' They sent me an email saying "Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer a refund.". With no reason why.

The trip to taronga zoo is totally worth it especially if you have young kids. Everything was good except that there was just one kangaroo. For people visiting from outside Australia the expectation is that they will get to see big kangaroos in bulk. But we just one red kangaroo and that too it was sleeping

Great value for such an amazing experience. The ferry to the zoo was nice and allowed us to see the city from the water. Keep your cameras ready because there are so many photo opportunities. Once at the zoo, there wasn't a dull moment. Four 3-4 hours we walked and viewed numerous exhibits. Best purchase made during our vacation.

Well buying the ferry ticket and the zoo ticket is a great bundle with some savings. However, the little details are hard to swallow. So we arrived a little past 9am to the wharf but the ferry was pulling out. The next ferry did not come until 2 hours later. So if we had an early encounter we would have missed it. I think these tickets should be transferrable to the other ferries that come every 5-10 minutes. Then once you arrive, you have to pay to ride the bus up to the zoo. Why isn’t that cost included or told upfront? All of these concerns apply to the return as well. These other factors made for our adventure to be more inconvenient.
