Wonderful experience!
, Aug. 2022
Such a great experience. We felt so privileged to go behind the scenes to see the animals at such a wonderful zoo nestled into the hills above Sydney (there’s a reason they call it the zoo with a view). Huge thanks to our wonderful guides Samantha and Joan who were so knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to make our experience special.
A must activity in Sydney!

Seeing the koala’s up close and personal was amazing! Something more special was seeing the female kangaroo’s and their little joey’s popping their heads out of their pouches! Very special - the tour guides even took us to the behind the scenes to see the Echidna’s which I was most excited to see! Overall a truly magical experience!
Fun among the Australian wildlife.

Wonderful tour through the zoo. Learning about the animals of Australia and walking among some of them was a treat. We were able to see up close the Koala bears and feeding the wallaby. Informative and fun.

The Best way to visit Turanga Zoo

This was an incredible tour, seeing much more of the zoo than we could have on our own! We had 2 volunteer guides for the two of us. They were both extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional!

Just myself and 2 children, we were escorted by two most helpful and knowledgeable ladies. We learnt and saw a lot of Australian fauna that we would never have imagined. The pace was perfect, and we got up close to koala, roos, platypus and many many others. Fascinating, easy, friendly - highly recommended!!!

Best way to see the Zoo
, Nov. 2019
I chose this trip for myself and my 2 adult daughters. There was to be a max of 6 people, but it ended up with just us. We toured with (2) of the Zoo volunteers. They were both very knowledgeable. We went in parts of the Zoo that is not open to the public. We were able to go into the cage with the Wallaby and the Koalas. It was well worth the extra cost. It maximized out time there.

Behind the scenes tour

After arriving at the zoo, I went to the info desk and was checked in by a lovely lady who said she would be taking me on the tour later. I went into the zoo to explore the other areas not covered by the tour. There was only me on the tour with another volunteer who was learning. We went to parts of the zoo that visitors don't go to and got to stroke a possum and a wallaby. The guide was very informative and it made the tour really interesting. I would like to have seen more Koalas as we were only allocated a visit to one. All in all a brilliant day.

The behind the screen tour was fabulous!! Getting a look from a local about the animals was so informative. I did not have to read any of the information plaques. It was the best day ever!!! I will be back to visit with my daughter!!

This was a great experience. We booked the VIP tour expecting to be in a large group and we were the only ones. We basically got a private tour of the zoo and were able to see so many animals up close. We went back into the kitchens and saw how they fed the different animals. Best of all we had the wonderful knowledge of the docents available to us. Definitely a must do in Sydney.

Exceeds all expectations
, Jul. 2018
I highly recommend this tour for visitors of all ages. We had a wonderful time learning about Australian animals from our gracious and knowledgable tour guides, Pauline and Di. We had flown in that morning from abroad, and it was quite easy and very scenic to travel to the zoo from Circular Quay via the ferry. From there, we took the bus to the top of the zoo to find the information desk. The tour was more in depth and longer than we were expecting, and the guides' enthusiasm for their work was obvious. The tour was very organized so that we were able to enter some exhibits and see the animals up close, and many of the animals were eating and active at the time we stopped by their enclosures, which was a bonus. Take this tour if you can!

I really enjoyed my tour around the Sydney Taronga Zoo and particularly the possibility to access areas that other visitors can't, such as some enclosures with Koalas and Kangaroos that I could approach from very close. The visit was done by two 70-year old volunteers who work there once a week and were quite knowledgeable about the zoo. It was a great day and I would recommend it to all animal lovers.

We were booked for a day during a school holiday so it was rather hectic and the instructions on where to go and how to get there were a bit lacking. The ladies at the zoo were great but people should know there is NO petting a koala allowed!! We did enjoy seeing all the animals!!

Absolutely amazing tour. We were the only 2 people on the tour and we had 2 fabulous tour guides with us so we could ask plenty of questions and got to go in to the koala paddock just us 2 and the tour guides which was amazing to get that close to the koalas and we could take lots of photos. We went behind the scenes and in the kitchens which was really interesting and got to feed the wallaby that was not on display. The tour guide offered to take plenty of photos on our phone so we have many memories of the tour. The tour is 1.5 hours to 2 hours but we were shown around 3 hours and then they walked us over to get an encounter and photo with the owl as were running short of time and they didn't want us to miss it. The 2 tour guides were lovely ladies and told us many amazing things.

This tour was amazing for many reasons: First off, our tour guides Pat and Annette were the best! Their love for the animals/birds was palpable. They provided fascinating information about the creatures we saw. It's the best education one can have. Secondly, we came up close to koalas, kangaroos, wallabys, and other animals/birds. Feeding a wallaby while it rested its paws on my knees was one of those special moments. We were taken to areas closed to the general public in order to get a closer view and sometimes touch the animals. Thirdly, Pat and Annette gave us time to observe and take our photos. They were so patient with us. They did not watch the clock and stayed with us longer than planned. And finally, the zoo itself is beautiful. The scenery from the cable car is spectacular. It flies over the zoo so one can see the animals below, as well as the Sydney skyline and harbor. This is a must for one visiting Sydney.

The weather was bad just before, so I was the only one on the tour. The personal attention was awesome.
