What To Expect

Prepare for an early morning pickup to make the most of the full day, and then watch the landscape and vegetation change during the 3.5-hour drive inland to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. One of Costa Rica's most famous and distinctive ecosystems, the cloud forest thrives on a near-constant stream of moisture and is home to more than 2,500 plant species, 400 types of birds, and 100 mammal species.

After arrival at the Selvatura Park adventure base, prepare for your first activity with a safety and equipment orientation (order of activities may vary). For the zipline tour, strap into a safety harness and launch from treetop platforms to soar through the misty forest canopy. Fly on 15 different cables of various lengths, including the immense ‘Superman’ cable that stretches more than a half mile (1 km) long and towers 590 feet (180 meters) above the forest floor. If you like, connect with your wild side with a ride on the giant Tarzan swing.

After a break for lunch (included), slow it down with the hanging bridges adventure. Get a bird’s-eye perspective on Monteverde's treetop life while walking across eight suspended bridges that range between 150-510 feet (50-170 meters) in length and 36-180 feet (12-60 meters) in altitude. The spacious bridges are among the widest and strongest in Costa Rica for a secure and comfortable walk through the clouds.

Once you've completed both adventures, descend back to the forest floor and relax on the return drive to the Pacific coast, where the 12-hour tour concludes with evening drop-off at your hotel.

Wonderful experience!...
Debbie_R, Jan 2023
Wonderful experience! Liked our tour guide. Ziplining was amazing . Mountain views on way we're gorgeous
skip the zip, go for the bridges
Matilda_R, Dec 2022
The line to get on the zip lines was over an hour wait. And of course they are zip lines, so you go very fast and then it's all done. The bridges were wonderful and amazing. Don't rush over them. There are 8 in total and worth the time to take in the view and enjoy the scenery.
Amazing Experience

Fantastic day spent zip lining and exploring Monteverde’s forests along hanging bridges. We had an amazing time and felt safe throughout!

Cloud walking on the hanging bridges was a superb way to experience Costa Rica. Seeing Quetzals, sloths and white faced monkeys in the wild made this excursion our TOP CHOICE!
Amazing!!
Rema_V, Aug 2022
Out of this world experience zip lining across the cloud forest. The Hanging bridges hike was nice but the zip lining with Selvatura adventures was truly fabulous. Worth the long drive from Guanacaste. We were a group of 11 with kids and everyone had a blast!
Impressive

Amazing network of zip lines. Professional and very capable staff. Make you feel safe in what can be an intimidating experience.
Thrilling
Donyel_J, July 2022
If you’re looking for a spectacular zip lining experience this is your spot. The last zip line is over 3000 feet 1000 meter over the ground. Thrilling!!!!
Wonderful and beautiful

This was an amazing experience. Definitely remember to bring a coat! It gets rainy and windy here even when it’s 90 degrees in the rest of the country! But the views are spectacular! Absolutely worth it!
Great Option, if you cannot go private
Pablo_A, Apr 2022
The cloud forest and zip lining are excellent. The trip up, hotel pick ups, and drive back are LONG (16+ hours). We spent about 3-4 hours on the excursion and the rest of the time in the car. If you’re able to find a private car, do it! Otherwise this is a great option.
Great fun at Monteverde
Mimi_O, Apr 2022
Great day at the hanging bridges, Hector was very knowledgeable and told us about all the different plant species and animals living in the forest. The ziplining was great fun and lunch at the end very tasty.
DO NOT BOOK!

No one arrived. We waited 1.5 hours. We haven't been refunded our money. These tour operators are not trustworthy. Do not book!
The zip lines were...
York_F, Mar 2022
The zip lines were wonderful, including the exhilarating Tarzan swing. Lots of fun. The hanging bridges tour could have been more enjoyable. We found the guide did not engage well with the whole group and seemed to be in a rush or just disengaged. Also I would note the drive to the facility was uncomfortable for the passengers. Comfort and perhaps safety were sacrificed for speed.
Our hotel was 4 hrs away....
Asmita_J, Mar 2022
Our hotel was 4 hrs away. On Viator the pick up time was 5.30 am which was the correct time to start. We got an email the previous night that the pick up was at 6.30, we didn’t start until 7 am. We had a long drive. The van was very uncomfortable for the ride. The access roads to Monte Verde and really bad so a comfortable van would have helped. We ate lunch at 4 pm. The zipline and hanging bridge experience was very unique and fun but was over shadowed by bad transportation and delays.
Views views and more views

We got picked up at our hotel and went to meet the rest of our travel party. Santos was our guide, he was great! Super knowledgeable and friendly. The drive up took about 3 hours with some windey switchbacks, our driver Manuel was great and navigated the roads very nicely. Going up the weather was dismal rainy and windy. We got to MonteVerde and jumped right in to the hanging bridges tour. It was incredible! You walk deep through the forest and then all of a sudden it opens up to the bridges. The views off the bridges are unbelievable. One bridge we came upon a family of howler monkeys, they were within arms length! The hike has some moderate grades but nothing extreme. We finished the bridges and went right to the zip lines. Fifteen in all, some were so far that it looked like you zipped in to the clouds and disappeared! So much fun in all. We were a little behind schedule so we couldn’t sign up for the Superman zip at the end. It was still awesome. So many incredible views. The hike between zips was again moderate but worth it. The drive home, the weather cleared up and we were treated to some of the most spectacular views that reached all the way to the ocean. Long day with the ride from our hotel but definitely worth it! Bring a rain coat and an extra set of underwear and socks!
Ziplining with a side of nature.

This was truly an adventure! From the lonnnnng zipline course, to the absolutely stunning views from the hanging bridges, Servatura in Monteverde is worth a visit. Our tour guide, Hector, was knowledgeable and personable, giving us a true insider's perspective on the diverse ecosystem of Costa Rica. We can't wait to visit again.
Worth the long drive from Tomarindo!
Jay_G, July 2021
Gustavo was a great guide (Native way tours) . He was patient and knowledgeable about the rain forest, both flora and fauna.
Make sure to take a raincoat!
Giselle_H, May 2021
My group was the only ones that booked the tour that day, so we had Gustavo and the van to ourselves. Gustavo was great, he even took the time to learn about us from our previous tour guide, Ronnie, when we went to breakfast. Don't make the mistake of not taking a raincoat to Monteverde. Since it was cold and raining, we desperately needed a raincoat on the zipline. It was such a magical experience flying through the clouds. We stopped to see the hummingbirds in the garden and Gustavo showed us how to make them sit on your hands while they ate. We went to check out the bridges, to save some time, he gave us the option to choose how many bridges we visited. We chose 4. We stopped to eat at Sabortico which had amazing food. Gustavo even let us stop at a Panaderia to get some snacks for our 3 hour drive back to Tamarindo.
It Was Wonderful

You are literally zip-lining into the clouds! A magnificent day trip - the cloud forest, which is higher than the rain forest, is a true tropical forest. A walk through the treetops with our fabulous guide, Ariel, who was very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and history of the area, crossing bridges across deep valleys of lush vegetation.
Amazing ziplining through the clouds!
BCS, Mar 2020
A long ride from the Tamarindo area, but worth it! Makes for a long day, but the zip lining was amazing. Didn't see much wildlife on the hanging bridges tour though.
Action in the clouds
Danielle_B, Mar 2020
This is a must if you are staying in Tamarindo and still want an adventure packed excursion. The zip lining is out of this world. Pay the extra $11 when you get there to do the Superman zip line for the finale. It’s worth it. Also don’t chicken out on the Tarzan zip line which is optional. It’s a blasts all the guides kept you safe and the views are incredible. The hanging bridges are a great treat. Our guide, Norberto was very knowledgeable about all of the plants, birds, monkeys, etc. We even had a monkey cross the bridge as we were. Great typical Costa Rican lunch. It’s a long day but worth every minute of it.
