This private tour is a walking day tour. Travel time between Tokyo and Kamakura is approx. 70 min via train. A private vehicle is not included. Public transportation or local taxis maybe used to transfer between sites. Exact transportation costs can be discussed with the guide after a reservation is finalized. Our Guide Mr Michio was a gem of a person. He took us to the right places and ensured our requests were all met. Our driver was another excellent person and would not rest until he found us the right place to eat. In short, it was a great trip. Always ask for Michio.

I really enjoyed the day trip and my guide, Taka, was excellent. Taka had originally blocked some time in the afternoon for shopping, but I told him I wasn't a big shopper, and would prefer to spend time seeing more sights. He immediately figured out a new/revised sightseeing plan and we squeezed in two more Kamakura temples that afternoon. Both temples were impressive. Really glad that Taka was flexible on the day's itinerary and that I was able to do that rather than shop.

Great town

Kamakura is a beautiful town and worthy of more than a full day of touring. The temples and shrines are beautiful. They scenery of the ocean lovely. The shopping is ok but mostly tourist items. Our tour was dampened by our guide’s limited knowledge of the sites and general personality. If I were to do it again I’d stay a couple of days and enjoy the community.

Kamakura - hidden village

Our guide MAkoto, was extremely considerate and patient as he led us from our hotel to the streets of Kamakura. His insight into the Japanese culture and history made our experience that much better. He was efficient without hurray and guided us through the crowds and sites proficiently. He took time th answer questions and provide context, while taking our pictures and engaging in meaningful conversations. The day went by quickly and was a memorable experience.

Our guide Tachi was very responsive to messages, nice and accommodating. I had specific requests to visit certain temples and shrine, and also to the Kamakurakokomae Station on Enoden Line and Tachi planned them out nicely. Her recommendation for lunch turned out the best meal we had through our Japan trip. Will definitely recommend this private trip for a fuss free experience to enjoy Kamakura.

Great Day Trip Near Tokyo!

Our Kamakura tour through JGA Inc. was very well-organized from start to finish. Before the trip, we immediately received an email with our guide’s name and information. Within hours, our guide, Makoto, also emailed an introduction. This helped immensely with pre-planning our trip. He was very responsive and helpful in setting up an itinerary to get the most out of the day. He met us at our hotel, and briefly reviewed the tour plan, including the trains and buses we would be taking. We had a very enjoyable day touring the Kotokuin and Hase Temples, and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Makoto was very knowledgeable and shared historical and cultural information along our routes. He left us time to explore shops along Komachi Street and helped with ordering tempura at a local restaurant. The service from our guide was excellent – highly recommend! We would use JGA again for future trips to Japan.

We were greeted by Minoru Asai, our tour guide, on time in our hotel lobby. Our trip was fun and timely, he even took us to see Mount Fuji in Inamuragasaki(which wasn’t on the itenary). We visited Hase Temple, great Buddha, and Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine. We had lunch and strolled around the Komachi street. It was a great experience for us and we really appreciated all the help Minoru provided.

Great day! Guide was super, very polite, and very knowledgeable. We knew we were “in great hands” as he expertly guided us through all the transportation mazes of trains and buses. We had requested specifics about lunch. He absolutely listened! And what a lunch it was. Absolutely fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed the day and time with our guide.

Nubu was a warm and lovely guide. His knowledge of the history and traditions in Kamakura was informative and fascinating. I was traveling solo so his knowledge of the trains and buses gave me the security I needed. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great Kamakura trip, if not a bit rushed

This was a great excursion, especially with Nobu. He fit in all of my “must do’s” in the short period of time. He’s a fast walker and so am I so it worked perfectly based on the sites I wanted to see, including the Great Buddha, the ocean, and the bamboo forest. It would be great if the company would increase the time to 6 hours from 4, as it takes about an hour via JR train just to get to Kamakura, so more than half the 4 hours is taken up by travel. Nobu is very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Thanks for getting me to and from Kamakura and showing me the sights, Nobu! The Great Buddha is truly great!! The only reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars is that the company should allow more time for the excursion.

Yasuho Suzuki was an awesome guide. He met us at our hotel in Tokyo. We took the train to Kamakura using our JR pass. We visited Kotokuin Great Buddha, Hasedera Temple, and Tsurugaoka Temple. At the end of the tour, we decided to shop around and have lunch at Komachi Dori street. It was a great day! Thank you Suzuki!
