This private tour is a walking day tour. A private vehicle is not included. Public transportation or local taxis maybe used to transfer between sites. Exact transportation costs can be discussed with the guide after a reservation is finalized. Please have Japanese Yen on hand for your transportation costs. If you wish to arrange for a private vehicle, please contact us directly. All Private vehicles must be booked 2 days in advance. Maximum number of passengers: 7.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

A great tour

Kazu is a local who knows his way round the fish market, the food stalls and their owners. The tour was very informative and fun. The fish we ate was fresh as it had been bought by the restaurant only hours before. It is well worth spending some time with Kazu

Our tour with Michio was very pleasant and we learned a lot of history and the background. Also, he took us to a very nice sushi restaurant for lunch and it was so fresh and reasonable price. He also worried we might get lost so he walked us back to our hotel after the tour. He is great! Highly recommended!!

Great guide but meet at destination location

The guide was wonderful and very accommodating. She showed us the new market and the old one which we wouldn’t have been able to find on our own. Would’ve loved to see the auction in action but it’s only on certain days, it’s super early in the morning and you need to make proper arrangement and reservations. I would recommend meeting your guide at the destination to give you more time with the guide. We requested our guide to meet us at our hotel which she did but it took us a really long time to get to our destination due to delays on the rail and we didn’t realize that we were that far from the market. Would definitely use again with better planning on my part. Lesson learned.

This was amazing. Our tour guide was so sweet. She knew all the spots to go to. We had an incredible experience and would not have been able to communicate and find the best sushi and items in the market without her. She also showed us a great pottery store and we all bought beautiful things (for so cheap). Great tour! Thank you.

Private guide lost on the metro

Our guide met us at the hotel at 7am. I had hoped to go to the auction but our guide said that was not possible - which was fine. We planned to go to the fish markets. He was prepared for the 4 hours however his knowledge of the metro system was not good. Instead of helping us to buy a pasmo card we bought individual tickets for each segment and also missed a stop. He was a kind man with good intentions but we did not learn much about the history of the fish markets. We went to tsjuki market for sushi breakfast which was good but then decided to leave our guide and do our own trip. Not worth the price we paid and not what I experienced from private viator tours in Europe. Don’t recommend this tour. Save your money.

Hello! Thank you very much for your review. We would like to let you know that Tokyo and other areas are no longer allowing for new pasmos that cannot registered due to the shortage of supplies needed to make IC card chips. This means that you would need to purchase a ticket or if your phone works, have a mobile pasmo for trip. However, this does not work for many so we suggest using tickets. Also, the fish market auction is from 5am and only lasts 10 minutes. We have made a special tour just for those that want to try to see the auction. We hope that you have a safe trip otherwise! Great tour with an excellent guide

Emi was an amazing guide. She met us 2 hours early at our hotel so that we could see the tuna auction. She was so informative and fun to talk to about the market - gave us great recommendations for breakfast and for special Japanese products to buy at the market - and even helped us navigate a Japanese pharmacy when my sister needed to buy some ibuprofen. She is interested in art and was able to give us excellent recommendations for art museums to see in Tokyo. Definitely recommend this tour! Thanks Emi!

Wonderful Fish Mkt Tours

Our guide Nik was wonderful. Not only did he meet us at our hotel but he also planned the subway trip and accommodated the market tours to our needs. He was also very knowledgeable about the fish and the food we passed along our market tour. We got to taste very popular foods, before the queues began, and we were lucky enough to get to go to a local temple and witness a blessing of a young couple. We would highly recommend it.

Our guide was very nice but not knowledgeable of the area. She has only been a tour guide for 3 months. She did not take us to the Toyosu Fish Market but to a much smaller one. Because of this our tour ended early.

Quite a foodie outing!

We had a wonderful morning with Kaori. She understood our needs and gave us good advice. We saw the Toyosu Tuna Auction from the viewing platform (without a pre-reservation). She met us at our hotel and showed us around all of Tsukiji with a quick Toro don bowl and some Hotate, including the protective Shrine and Sushitzuka within. Then we went past the Kibuki Theater and saw some of the Ginza Department store foods as well, and she guided us to a quick path home before noon with a few recommendations for dinner.

The tour is somewhat misleading as the Toyosu Market closes at 6:30am so unless you get there very early you won’t see the fish auction. This needs to be explained in the description. Our great guide did the Tsukiji outer market and then took us to other sites in the area.
