Great EXPERIENCE

The trip was a very nice experience. Our driver Gede picked us up on time and was very friendly. He told us a lot and ear a very nice person. The hike up the mountain andere guide was very nice. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy but still a nice experience. On the way down we could taste local fruits. The Thermal Springs were very nice, doxh unfortunately very touristy since many people were there after the hike. It was more like a swimming pool like natural springs.

We had an amazing journey overall! Adi was excellent, it was a long day for him. He picked us up at 1.30am in Kuta as planned. Local guide was ace too, sadly I cannot remember his name! We managed to get up in 90 mins, and were actually an hour early got the sunrise! There were beautiful views which I unfortunately can't seem to upload on my mobile. My partner and I loved the whole event.

The view was absolutely incredible! A bit of a tough climb up, so not for the feint of heart, but 100% worth it for the experience at the top. Our tour guides Adi and Sari were incredible - so friendly, laughed along with us, and we’re supportive in our times of need. Great experiences!

This experience was an amazing adventure, exceeded any expectations we had from the photos we saw online. We were picked up from our hotel super early, but we were able to sleep some in the car and the extra yawns were completely worth it. We got assigned Wayan as our guide. He was the best at leading us up the mountain. We enjoyed the sights and stopped many times to take photos and videos. He was very insightful and even took us down a secret path where we got to hike the black sand from the volcano remains and check out some semi active hot spots. The view from the top is breathtaking and almost impossible to put into words. This hike is a must for anyone visiting Bali! Ask for wayan!

Best day trip from start to finish. The driver and I were able to correspond the night before and he arrived right at 2:30 AM to our hotel in Ubud. The guide on our hike was lovely and provided the right amount of information for hiking at 4AM. The stars are INSANE. So beautiful. The hike up was quite sandy so make sure you bring shoes you don't mind getting black dust on. Everyone says it - listen to it - the top is COLD. I had on three layers and wish I had one more and perhaps some gloves. The coffee at the top is traditional Balinese, which means the grounds are left in. Wait a minute before sipping so it settles at the bottom and then it is lovely. The hike down is awesome because you get to see everything. It gets hot so make sure you have a bag to strip some of your layers. They have people hiking with you who sell drinks so no need to pack extra waters. The driver was waiting for us when we were back and took us to a precious coffee farm with an awesome tasting menu. Overall, this might have been our favorite activity in Bali and we highly recommend. Especially great shout out to our driver and the guide.

The experience was great, our driver Yanik picked us up at 2.30 am and drive us from Ubud to mt. Batur, she is a lovely person! We did the hike in around 1.30hs, it was a bit tough but not too bad. After that, we got to see the amazing sunrise. Then, we went to the hot springs to relax. Highly recommended experience.

The sunrise itself was beautiful but their trip to get up there was terrible. We had booked to hike the mountain but the person who picked us up arrived an hour late, meaning we got to our start point late. On top of this, our start point was extremely far away from the bottom of the mountain. We had only been walking for 10 minutes when we were stopped and told that we could continue walking if we wanted to but we would miss the sunrise - or we could spend 350k to be driven 90% of the way up on motorbikes, we had no choice but to go on the motorbikes or we would have missed the sunrise. Very disappointing experience.

Tour provider didn’t follow up or show up for tour.

It didn’t happen. There was no communication after the booking confirmation. Viator is a large outfit that hires local companies to provide the tour. When the driver didn’t show up at 1:30AM, I called the 24 hr support and could not even leave a message. I called/texted the provider that we used for the previous days trip that was wonderful (Forever Vacations) and they called me back at 8:00am saying it wasn’t booked through them. I received a very apologetic text from the company that it was booked through at noon saying the driver went to wrong hotel. I don’t believe that but they did promptly refund my payment. Bottom line- if you don’t start getting texts from the tour provider shortly after booking, re-book with another operator.

Great greeting from the person hosting the tour and our great tour guide Made. We’re lucky to have gone on a day where it wasn’t too cloudy. Hike was quite difficult but doable. Took us about 1.5 hours. On the way back, we went through some farms where Made allowed us to pick and buy fruits while meeting the farmers and their families. Would recommend but base on weather luck at the top. I do recommend checking a few days in before to see about transportation. See below. Only downfall: booking asks for my pick up point which I provided in Canggu but then the day before, after I confirm with the tour host, I was informed to meet at the starting point. Tried to get it figured out but eventually it came down to either paying $20/person for pick up or finding my own ride so I just booked a driver for the whole day instead for $40.

Was a beautiful sunrise and no rain during the hike although it sounds like we were lucky to get that during the rainy season. Our driver Adi was great and ready outside the hotel even before pickup. Manut our local guide got us up safely and early before making us breakfast. Overall highly recommend.

The hike was pretty difficult but the view was definitely worth it. The hiking path was pretty slippery. I broke off from my group and hired a motorbike to take me up some of the way or I would have never made it before sunrise. The guy who drove me on the motorbike was extremely nice and helped me get up that last, steep bit.

Great trip. We were picked up on time by Ade and he was so attentive and lovely. He lowered the seats for us and let us sleep on the way to the mountain. Then our second guide met us and we hiked up. I didn't think climb was too bad. No climbing skills needed as it's all on a path, but was a little steep at times. We got really lucky with the weather and a beautiful sunrise. Coffee plantation was lovely too and got to taste a wide range of drinks.

Truly the most life changing and amazing experience. Ani was the best best guide, everything was perfectly on time. The hike up was difficult but she was patient and when we made it to the top I would’ve done it all over again for that view. It was my birthday and she got everyone to sing and make me a nutella sandwich- it was the best morning ever! A must do if you are in Bali.

Tough, but worth it!

Whatever you've heard about this hike being for people with moderate fitness levels, uh no! This was a tough climb. There were times where you have to walk parallel to the mountain face because it is so steep. Long parts of the trail have black sand and every time you took a step you would sink down which made this trek even more challenging. If you are in moderate fitness, like me, it will be a struggle, albeit a good struggle with a beautiful payoff at the end. My guide Ayu was patient and helped navigate the terrain. I can't imagine doing this 3x a week as a guide. There were so many people of all shapes and sizes doing this hike, cheering each other on. The breakfast was good for what it was. You're on the top of a mountain so don't expect a 5 star meal. A simple banana sandwich, hard boiled egg, chocolate wafer bar and hot tea hit the spot. It is cooler at the top and since you'll be sweating all the way up, you will need and jacket and long sleeves as you sit and wait for the sunrise. The view is glorious and worth the 2 hours up this mountain. The heat vents along the side of the mountain were warm and everywhere. The hike down was just as challenging and when you reach the bottom and look up, you're amazed at yourself and you'll feel a sense of accomplishment.
