Best Way to See Mt. Vernon

Our driver Dion was awesome! He called us to let us know he was minutes from picking us up. (Later, I got a call from USA Guided Tours to make sure I had gotten picked up.) Then, the bus was gorgeous! It was air conditioned, had leather seats, and plugs for your phone. Dion narrated our entire ride to and from Mt. Vernon. He gave us so much history! He was super clear as he guided us through Mt. Vernon and gave us even more history. I can’t imagine seeing Mt. Vernon a better way!

Seeing the inside of the mansion was difficult because so many people were in each group you couldn’t move around. The grounds were okay but not much to see. Overpriced for what you get. Our guide on the bus was very knowledgeable

Very good comments by our guide around the grounds of Mt. Vernon. Ticket to the house is included in the tour so it's a good way to see the home of George Washington.

No air conditioning on bus

The air conditioning was not working on the bus and in the 90+ degree weather it was miserable. The tour guide was great but it was so uncomfortable for the price.

Mount Vernon was amazing however the trip advertised 2 hours in Alexandria and all we had was 20mins driving around on the bus so that was disappointing. Christopher our guide was amazing, so full of knowledge and willing to answer questions readily.

Coach tour to Mount Vernon

Tour from Washington DC out to Mount Vernon via Alexandria. This was a coach tour. There was no briefing given as to the plan for the day although the guide introduced himself. We first drove around Alexandria with various sights pointed out. The coach had pink cherry blossom wrap around it so all the windows (except the windscreen) were obscured so it made viewing difficult and that part of the tour a bit pointless to be honest. We then arrived at Mount Vernon which is a lovely place to visit. We were guided around the grounds and then the Mt Vernon staff guide you through the house. At times the ground tour felt a bit rushed and we were very much herded and rounded up with a roll call every so often. Felt a bit like being in a school party! The house was really interesting and the grounds lovely - am amazing view of the river. The tour was expensive for what it was. Mount Vernon is not so far from Washington and with hindsight we should have looked at making our own way there for the day.

The tour guide was good. It felt a bit rushed. I would spend more time at Mt Vernon and skip a stop. The bus ride was horrible. The driver was fine - the road threw us around. Did the bus not have any shocks, or were the roads really that bad?
