The tour was excellent. Antonio is wonderful guide! The ruins are fantastic and the museum was very informative.
History worth a visit.
Bill_M, Mar 2023
Francisco’s knowledge of the history was exceptional. Because the museum was all in Spanish he carefully explained all the details.
Excellent, informative guide

We had a great time with Pablo. His English and knowledge of the ruins was excellent. We traveled in a very nice, new van that was comfortable and spacious. He took us to a local restaurant for a very nice meal. We can highly recommend this trip.
Interesting day trip from Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
Kristin_H, Feb 2023
We enjoyed our day trip to the Xihuacan archeological site. Our entire experience went smoothly, from making reservations and confirming pickup to the return to Ixtapa. Our guide, Pablo, was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing the interesting history and information of the area. We visited the museum, the ball court, and the pyramid, along with a drive through the nearby Soledad de Maciel. On the return trip, we stopped to eat lunch at a local market- with delicious guisados, fresh-made tortillas, and aquas frescas.
If you like ancient history do this!

Archeological History Protected For Future Generations

Our tour guide, Pablo (sp?) was one of the best Viator guides we have used while in Zihuatanejo. His description of the archeological site we visited was fantastic and he answered all our questions in very clear and understandable English. He scheduled a very special stop to have a local resident display his archeological finds over many years living in the area. We also were given a demonstration on how to make tobacco cigars in the village nearby the archeological site. Our lunch that was furnished was very tasty. We suggest that future Viator customers going to the archeological site ask for Pablo (sp?) to be your guide. Chris and Camille
History + Countryside + Fun Day

We loved spending the day out of the City learning about the history of the area. We visited the Museo Xihuacan and the Archaeological sites with our tour guide Pablo. Our tour included a visit to a local artisans home, which was really fun. Pablo was engaging and knowledgeable, truly a great guide. Highly recommend this tour and tour company!

A must see if you’re in the area! Our guide was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond. The site itself was amazing to see due to how relatively new the excavation was.
Interesting

Pablo was an excellent tour guide. His historical knowledge made the archaeological tour come to life!
Pablo was respectful and humorous, also.
Enjoyable and informative

Our guide was very knowledgeable in the history of Mexico and in particular this area. We were transported on a air conditioned mini bus, which makes for a smaller amount of people on the tour and not crowded. The reason for my 3 star rating is that it was to include bottled water and non was provided. Also the description of the tour indicates twice that we would be relaxing and having lunch at a lagoon. Although we did stop for a delicious lunch, it was a very nice restaurant located on the side of the highway. The food and service were both very good. This is a good tour if you are interested in the archeological history of Mexico.
Great trip

Our tour guide, Francisco, made this trip perfect. This religious center is the only known pyramid made of adobe. We toured the museum it is supported by donations to run and expand work in the area, along with the restored ceremony game arena, and the uncovered portion of the pyramid. The museum was small but fantastic with amazing unearthed complete stone pieces central to the religious center, along with complete artifacts of art, ceremonies, jewelry, and even a full burial chamber discovered at the site. Our guide had extensive knowledge about the history and discovered culture of the center, and shared unique details of the excavation from the archaeologist and anthropologist team. The lunch at the lagoon afterward was relaxing and delicious. Francisco had so much knowledge about history and pride in his community, he was a true delight to talk to and learn from. The other private drivers/guides we saw did not have much familiarity or permissions for some of the archeological areas. If you are interested in an educational and fun trip that teaches you about the cultures and history of Mexico, this is a 6 star experience.

The ruins are amazing overall. I really enjoy seeing the different ways that the civilizations endured. The museum was good. The actual sites were even better. These do not compare at all to the ones in Cancun. But, it was a different civilization with different needs. There was plenty to learn on the trip. I believe I would have rated this much higher with a different guide. In the museum, everything is in Spanish, so I needed to rely on my translator I know. I am in a foreign land with a different language. Our guide seemed to pass over quite a few of the exhibits. I started to listen to the group that was going before us and was getting way more out of it. That guide was so more in depth and detailed. I think I could have learned so much more. The lunch we went to was very good. The garlic shrimp is to die for. Overall fun day. With a more detailed guide, would have given more stars.
