Glacier Express train trip is worth it!

Nothing it was boring 4 hours of seeing the same thing. Our guide was fantastic but the tour itself is boring. Lunch was part of the package but it was never provided we paid almost two thousand for a party of four for a plain train ride. We sent an inquiry as to why the full package was never provided but to date we have not received any justification to the cost of the tour

Hello You booked this tour through Viator. If you would have booked direct with us, the price would have been much more attractive. As I already told you, food was not included in your tour. But we changed it from Dec 12 on (which increases the price - for sure). Talking about the price: You pay for a full-fare-one-day ticket (which you got reduced as you booked this tour), you pay for the Glacier Express train, you pay for the tourguide (Swiss salary) and finally Viator/Tripadvisor takes out commission. That makes the price of the tour. By the way - you sent me the e-mail during the tour that you mention in the review and I replied to you within 10 minutes. Just stay on the truth! Kind regards

Not as expected

This tour is not at all as described on the tour site. We expected a breezy day through the country side with a guide that would accentuate the experience. The train made several stops throughout the day to allow for other trains to pass (one shared track) on several stops it was in dark tunnels. Not exactly an opportunity to see the sites. Our guide, although a very sweet man, fell asleep during the tour. Our takeaway...too expensive, not what expected and we would not recommend. I would recommend downloading the SBB train app and routing your own tour between your destinations. The trains are much less expensive (even for 1st class) the sites are as good or better than what we saw on the Glacier Tour.

Hello Thank you for your feedback. Currently, there is the youth scout camp in the Goms-area and to transport 30000 youth-scouts they had to extend the schedule a bit. But your tour was always on time. Just want to remind you - this tour you can not do just with an app from SBB as we have special tickets for that day to make it possible to travel on the Glacier Express route just in one day. Normally you use 3 days for it and you need a expensive 3-day train pass. About the price: Did you ever thought about, that you could book the tour direct with the touroperator and not feeding a tech company with commission? Kind regards

It was a wounder full journey in a wounder full sunny day through a spectacular pass. Our English speaking guide Michel was very good and professional. He was very much on time and explained the various flora and faunna of the regions nicely. Would recommend to make this trip to everybody who loves to see the scenic beauty and remoteness of Swiss Alps

The views from the train is amazing. It is a whole day experience, but covers a lot. Food was delicious on the train. The guide that we had wasn’t much of a help, besides getting us on the different trains/ connections. Can easily be done on your own. Definitely worth the time of you have a whole day.

The highlight of our time in Switzerland. Our guide, Dominique, was super fun and extremely knowledgable. She knew the answer to every question we asked and we really enjoyed our time with her. Although it's possible and pretty easy to do the trip without a guide, I would really recommend booking a guide. It removes all of the stress and allows you to learn a lot more about Switzerland than you would without one. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone that has a free day in Switzerland! The Swiss Alps are amazing, and the meal on the train was delicious.

We had Oskar as our guide. It was myself, my girlfriend and him. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. My partner has a hard time walking and Oskar was totally patient and when it was time to board the the trains, he went ahead of us so we had the best seats on the train for the spectacular views. This was a great tour. We got to see a lot of the country with some personal attention by our sweet tour guide, Dominique. We had some difficulties with the Glacier Express, in that they had double booked our reserved seats. We ended up in the back of the train and so the service was less than first class. This was not Viator's fault though, sometimes stuff just happens. The views were incredible. Once you've done such a tour once and you see how easy it is to manage such a trip yourself, next time I think we would try it on our own, but for the first time, it was nice to have the comfort of a personal guide.

The trip itself was brilliant, and we had a fabulous day. The Glacier Express lived up to all our high expectations and the scenery was spectacular. Although our young guide was quite inexperienced it was her second tour, she did a good job getting us everywhere we needed to be and on time to make all our connections. We were picked up from our Zurich, taken by local train to the main central station to catch the regional train and then the Glacier Express. We returned to Zurich via a different rail route so in effect we circled a large part of Switzerland which was a bonus. Although we could have managed the day on our own, it was much easier and more relaxing to have the local knowledge of our guide.

The guide was informative and helpful. The train was comfortable and the lunch was good. The only disappointing thing was the lack of snow in mid-December, not something Viator could control. Even without snow, the scenery, including distant glaciers, was great.

Vistas desde el tren es lo único de valor. Los pueblos visitados no tienen nada que ver. Perdida de tiempo. En adición hay que estar en buena condición para caminar en los varios pueblos. El hotel pick up es un engaño. Nos recogió a pie una persona y caminamos como 2 millas para llegar al tren y de regreso nos dijo sigan derecho hasta llegar al hotel… no era detecho.
