What To Expect

Greet your guide in a central Zurich location and climb aboard a comfortable coach destined for Grindelwald. Receive a fascinating introduction to the Bernese Oberland region as you travel through the beautiful countryside and then refresh with a hot beverage (own expense) during a brief interlude in Interlaken.

Travel onward to Grindelwald to board the gondola Eiger Express of the newly opened V-Cableway for a ride to the Eiger Glacier station, where you change for the cogwheel train headed to one of Europe’s highest points. Marvel at dramatic mountain scenery during the ride up the UNESCO-listed Jungfraujoch mountain pass, and scour the horizon for the jagged peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains.

On arrival at the 11,332-foot (3,454-meter) summit, gaze at mind blowing views of the Alpine wonderland below, and then ascend to the Sphinx Observatory for even more magnificent panoramas. Try to spot the craggy peak of the Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s longest glacier, and then explore the frozen tunnels of the Ice Palace during an enchanting guided tour.

Opt to enjoy a fulfilling meal at one of the many rustic restaurants at the summit (own expense) and then re-board the train for the journey to Lauterbrunnen, where your coach awaits. Relax during the journey back to Zurich, where the tour concludes.

This tour is long, but TOTALLY worth it. Anna Leisa was our guide, and she was phenomenal!! As we were driving, she gave us remarkable insight to the Swedish lifestyle, history and culture. You go to Interlachen first, and it was great, but the these part was the Top of Europe. If it’s cloudy, just give it a few minutes and it should clear up. The view is amazing! But it’s COLD! We went in July and it was 75 in Zurich and 35 there. So, bring a coat! Do this tour. The countryside is amazing and so is the train-ride scenery.

Vladimir was an amazing tour guide, and this was a must-see trip to the Top of Europe. There is nothing else like it. Highly recommend booking this tour and any others offered by Best of Switzerland!

Incredible views and we very much enjoyed the Ice Palace. The ride back down the mountain on the train could be skipped and just use the Gondola. There was no bathroom or water or food facilities available after the first train stop on the way back down. Lastly, the train back down the mountain did not have enough seats for our group and at the stops there was other passengers embarking.

Santiago was a superb guide and took great care of the tour. The scenery is simply breathtaking. Very interesting Ice castle. Expensive food and water cost up top so bring water to hydrate. Be prepared for a long day with possibility of traffic. It’s a popular sight. We were very lucky to have full sunshine. Dress in layers.

It was a beautiful warm day for September but definitely bring a jacket or sweater for when you get to the mountain - it gets real cold. Fernando was very informative and transitioned gracefully between English and Spanish. Sasha was a safe driver. Lastly, I’m not used to the altitude so I did get dizzy but just stay calm and pace yourself if you feel the same. I would do this tour all over again!

The Jungfraujoch tour was spectacular and would highly recommend it. I rated this low, because 2 other tours were included in the bus ride and were dropped off and picked up from Interlaken. We also picked up additional tourists and dropped them off in Lucerne. This added about 2 hours to an already very long tour which lasted about 13 hours door to door. As for the tour itself, the gondola ride up, the views from the top, the glacier, the ice works, and the train ride back down was outstanding and well worth the long day and extra travel. The tour guides gave clear directions and provided great options on how to enjoy the activities.

Great views...guide not so...

Views were amazing and tour is good. We didn't stop at Lauterbrunnen as described so they shouldn't list that. Also, our guide, although very nice, was very disorganized and all over the place. She messed up our train time to the top by 1 hour leaving several behind at the transfer station and didn't do a very good job explaining things. She would tell us there are toilets on a certain stop, but never explain where etc. The guides from same company on other tours had to help us.

I appreciate the staff's effort to make the trip enjoyable. Especially to Su, to ensure that we stay in the group. Eduardo did well with his stories and was clear. However, the the bus is dirty. Some seats do not have accompanying trays.

Really worth the time. The provides majestic views from Interlaken, Grindelwald, Jungfrau and then back down through the Lauterbrunnen valley. Guides (Ambi) were great, the bus was comfortable, and the drive was scenic.

This trip is exactly as described. It is well planned. You have enough time at each stop for ample photos and to relax. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Be prepared for the cold. An extra coat and maybe even hat and gloves would be a great idea.

Adela and the driver Tossey were fantastic. Weather was not what I was hoping for at the top of the Sphinx Observatory. But that is the way it goes with weather. I mentioned I could rebook in September. Didn’t feel like that was an option.
