The world is one big puzzle!
Terry_C, Sep 2022
Standing at the crevice between the North American and European teutonic plates was mind blowing. Loved it!

Gunner was a great tour guide. He shared personal stories that are always interesting to hear. The landscape was so interesting, between the steam vents bubbling up, the waterfall and the tectonic plates.
The smaller group of 20 was much easier to manage that a full bus.
Beware of summertime flies or mosquitos, whatever those were!
A Disaster Waiting to Happen
play10nisam, Sep 2022
When this trip was booked, the tour company presented it as a tour for a group up to 15 people (we were a party of 8), so this commentary is no reflection on Daniel our guide or the tour in general, it is more an indictment on the tour owner who felt it was appropriate to jam 17 adults into a van that was not in good condition (see photos). The ventilation and sound were poor at best and the people in the back were very uncomfortable and unable to hear anything the tour guide said. On our return trip back to the cruise ship, a rear tire lost 3 of its 6 lug nuts and the tire was close to working its way off the axel. Kudos to Daniel who noticed the problem and pulled over in time. My brother and husband assisted Daniel in jacking up the van and we waited for Daniel's friend to bring more lug nuts. We were 10 minutes away from missing the ship's departure.
As far as the tour is concerned, it would have been nice to know there wouldn't be enough time to eat and then we could have planned accordingly. The food options on the road were quite limited.
Interesting and Informative Tour

Our guide met us on time in the port and we were in a comfortable van for transport to the various sights we toured. Our guide was informative throughout the journey and we learned so much about Iceland as well as the specific locations we toured. Godafoss Waterfall in particular was amazing! One advantage of the smaller groups/vans was the ability to unload and load more quickly and therefore we were able to see and cover more ground. We had hoped to do a drive through the historic part of Akureyri city, but apparently didn't have time. We were delivered back to the port in a time to board the ship at the designated time which alleviated that stress. Overall this tour was excellent!
10/10 — MUST DO.

Arman was a very knowledgeable, numerous, and energetic local guide. He took us to all the hot spots to see, gave us valuable location specific information, and made sure we got back to our port with plenty of time.
Best way to see Akureyri without paying costs of cruise planned excursions.

Great tour guide who was flexible by adding stops as time permitted. Plenty of insights and it was a great itinerary.
Great day tour with locals

This was a great small group tour to see the highlights of Akureyri. Highly recommend for cruisers looking for shore excursions or those just in the area looking for a great day!
Fantastic experience.

Everything was outstanding. It was the highlight of our cruise. We recommend this excursie to everyone!!!!!!
Great Experience in Akureyri
Frank_S, Aug 2022
Incredible up close experience of the Godafoss Waterfall and Lake Myvatn. Other great sights were Hallarflotin Lava Fields and the Namafjallis high temperature mud pots field. Personal highlight for me was the Convergence spot where the North American Tectonic Plate meets the Eurasian Plate which runs though Iceland. In the South, they are widely separated by a "no mans land" but here you can literally stand with one foot on each. Our tour guide, Gunther, was very knowledgeable and gave us great insight to the local customs and local people.
Take a local tour vs ship tour.

Gunner, out tour guide was excellent. We stopped at all the recommended sites and he was very thorough in explaining the details associated with each stope.

Great tour and guide

Got picked up from the port by a mini bus. Great tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable on his country and all the places we stopped out or drove by. The waterfall was impressive. Great company and will definitely be using them again.
Great volcanic features
Jillian_D, Jul 2022
Saw some spectacular geological features. An hour at the baths was not long enough so we opted not to go in. By the time you had changed you would only be in there about half an hour and at £35 per adult it was a bit steep.
First class trip

Great trip seeing all the highlights, very informative driver / guide, far better getting around in a small group than the large coach tours. Highlight was the nature baths, really enjoyed

5 Star Experience

Outstanding tour. Small group allowed for a few stops off the beaten track of the larger tour busses.
Great excursion for Akureyri
Wei_S, Jul 2022
The tour guide is knowledgeable and have a real good sense of humor. The Godafoss waterfall is good to visit and wished we could have more time to get closer to the waterfall. I really like the lava formation in Dimmuborgir. Again the time is too short to really breathe in all the magnificent larva formations. The bubbling mud pools and natural steam vents and the ironed mountains in Hverir is just amazing. I wish I had been prepared to wear something protective so I could walk along the path for a while instead of just standing on the plat form. The rift near Grjotagja Cave is impressive too. The tour guide also let us stop at the view point to take photos of Akureyri on the way back and drove us through the old town, pointing out some the old houses.
Amazing tour

Loved this tour! Peter, our driver/guide was great. Waterfall was beautiful. Loved the sulfa pits and boiling mud. Saw the rift between continents and the lava formations. It was very confusing trying to find the tour when we first exited our ship. Otherwise, fantastic tour. Highly recommend.
Great shore excursion!
Kimberly_J, Jul 2022
Tour was organized and well run. Tour went ro all the places listed and guide was informative and friendly! Driver was courteous. Stops were appropriately timed and there was another option for those who did not want to participate in the nature baths. FYI nature baths in Iceland are hot springs that are not clear and smell of sulfer which is not what I was expecting!
