Small group, made it better, the tour guide John was very animated and knew all the facts which I appreciated, the bad thing is that it seems more like a history tour than a ghost tour, would like to see more scary things in the future.

LIARS! The WORST customer service!

I don’t know if Viator is the only way to book this tour but AVOID! They will lie to you on the phone just to get you on the tour. We were told on the phone that we would be entering 3 buildings and that we would visit a TOTAL of 12 sites if we booked the “extended tour”. Neither of those things happened! It wasn’t the tour guides fault, she was great but even she told us that going into buildings is not part of this tour (We asked her at the end, wondering why we never entered). Once we contacted Viator and told them we were lied to and wanted a refund, they said they would pull the call. So, 2 weeks later I asked for an update and they said “we pulled the call and the agent said you’d enter 3 buildings but not the additional 3 (so now they are saying only 6 sites) so we cannot offer a refund as you weren’t told false information”. Interesting, since they literally just confirmed we were in fact told false information considering WE DID NOT ENTER ANY BUILDINGS! Not one, not two, not three! Terrible customer service! You can’t speak to a supervisor on the phone, just the sales agents who will tell you that the supervisor will reach out through email. WORST EXPERIENCE! Go with a different tour that doesn’t lie just to get you to sign up!

The tour guide, John was freaking awesome! Without him, I never would have found the group or made it back to my car. He is also hilarious and an amazing storyteller. The only issue is that the directions given by the website need work. Maps has a hard time finding the starting point. They don't use a restaurant, hotel or anything else as a starting point. I was there super early and ended up walking around lost for 30 minutes. If the WONDERFUL tour guide, John hadn't contacted me, I would have left. That was really the only drawback to the experience. They really need to update the website and give a landmark, as there are plenty as a starting point. As a female, being in downtown Asheville, in the dark and lost was scarier than any possible ghost. Lol The tour guide MADE the experience!! John was AWESOME.

This tour was a blast! And I’m so happy I chose this company versus the other one on the street that had like 50 people in their group! Ours was capped at 15 which made it more personable, you were always right up front and close to John and you could always hear! He is hilarious, by the way! I’d love to sit and have coffee with him and just listen to his brain rant about daily stuff because he’s just that kind of funny: a little bit of cynicism mixed with sarcasm mixed with incredible witt and just a touch of the “Really? you just did that” kind of humor and it’s hysterical the entire tour! I would absolutely book him again in a heartbeat and like I said, I’m so glad the other tour was sold out because I never would have found this one with John and he is incredible! One thing I’d like to mention is that there was a group of 7 who didn’t tip even after John explained their is his only job, he works 5 days a week and tips are appreciated/accepted. Maybe that group thought that he gets paid anyway so they didn’t have to tip but let’s try to remember that Viator takes their cut and then the company he works for takes their cut and this is almost like a private tour with a group as small as it was compared to the other company’s group I saw. Please tip! If you have money to spend on a tour then you should account for also tipping. It’s the right thing to do and I can honestly say that John more than deserves a tip for his amazing tour. I can’t wait to come back to Asheville again because I’m definitely doing his tour again!

Holly is a great tour guide!! While on the tour we saw a light turn on & go off in a haunted building as a black cat ran across the road. You will learn all about the elevens!! A much do while in town. It was a very fun experience.

We really enjoyed our guide Holly. Her stories about the presence of ghosts haunting places that they died were great. We also learned lots about the history of downtown Ashville. The kids loved the bulls-eye where people jumped to their death, from Jackson building, during the Great Depression.

Our guide was friendly, however her storytelling was lacking some context and much enthusiasm. Stops were limited. We love walking tours, especially ghost tours. This left us wanting more.
