Half day, D Day excursion

Our tour guide, Arnold, brought a very real and humanistic perspective to the D-Day landings and the Allied forces invasion on Omaha Beach. He was exceptionally knowledgeable of the battle, and battle strategies of both the Allies and Germans. When visiting the American National Cemetery, again Arnold shared his in-depth knowledge, and was extraordinarily mindful and respectful of the challenges faced and lives lost on that day.

This was the most wonderful tour. Our guide was friendly, knowledgable, and respectful about all he shared with us. He had pictures, diagrams, stories, answered all our questions, and also gave us time in each place to have our own moments there. He even stayed a bit later at the end because we were all so moved and kept coming up with more to ask him. The cemetery was so beautiful and peaceful and was my favorite spot, but I loved the whole afternoon! I would give this tour 10 stars if I could!

Remy was excellent. He gave very detailed stories and information. Would definitely book with him again. He kept it interesting with snippets of history. He also gave it a personal touch making sure everyone got their personal photos. He has good English with a great French accent. He was passionate about the subject and invested in us learning.

Simply amazing. Steve, our driver and guide, was outstanding and his knowledge of the area and events was even better! If you are going to see the D-Day beaches this is the only way to do it right. He used a large book of photos and maps on-site to explain the locations and highlight the people and events of Normandy on D-Day. Tour vehicle was excellent and comfortable. Steve pointed out historic landmarks on the drive. Very efficient tour and hit all the highlights of Omaha Beach, and the cemetery was especially well done. We got out at each of the 6 stops and had plenty of time for photos and walking around.

We’ve seen the movies, watched the documentaries but it became surreal seeing where the carnage took place. Knowing 75 years ago that beautiful beach was blood red and littered with bodies. This was unlike any experience I’ve had and one all need to see to realize the sacrifice of the men and their families gave. True hero’s. FIVE star tour and I highly recommend it for anyone going to the Normandy area!

This is a great tour if you and your family members don’t have a lot of time. It visits several important American-focused D-Day spots that will resonate with anyone who has read/watched about D-Day. Note: Not a lot of time for visitor centers, and the weather can change from stop to stop. Thierry is a wonderful guide!

Great tour if you do not have enough time. Even if you do have extra time, this tour brought you to the main sites and was just enough, especially if traveling with kids. Our guide was great (Although I forgot his name at the moment) but heard all guides are very knowledgeable which was proven during our tour. He brought a lot of knowledge and also added some humor when appropriate. We traveled in an air-conditioned bus which was nice since it was a warm day when touring. We would take this tour again if we were to do it over again. This was a Rick Steves' recommendation which so far has always been on mark.
