Aloha!! Scott from the volcano Van was awesome with his geeky knowledge of volcanos. U can tell it is def his passion!! Driving in an active volcano was so cool and then to see the lave coming from the shield volcano was the best part of the whole HI experience and we r on tour for 2 wks of all 4 Islands. Still have maui to do. Ty, mahalo!!! Cheryl and Kevin. 😀

Amazing Big Island in a day

We were lucky to experience Kilauea erupting. Scott was very knowledgeable about volcanoes and the history of the island. In addition to the awesome volcano experience, we traveled backroads through lush vegetation and saw dramatic waterfalls, gulch, lava tunes, bucolic pastures and incredibly beautiful and pristine coastline. This was an amazing one day overview of the big island.

Scott was knowledgeable, very funny, kind & accommodating. I had a muscle injury in my back that got worse during my honeymoon on the big island, and I was really disappointed about not being able to hike and get around as much as I’d wanted. This tour covered all the essentials on the island, from hitting all the biggest wonders, to learning about the unique ecology of the island, to the vast and rich history over the centuries, and even seeing towns and getting an idea of what it’s like to be a local. We had a lot of fun and it was so great to get this experience in while there. Most of the trip was comfortable in the car, but when we were out and my back pain started to slow me down, I was so appreciate to Scott for his patience and kindness. This is a great tour for anyone who doesn’t have the time or ability to trek the whole beautiful island on foot! (There was moderate walking - I’d write with any mobility inquiries - I just know my issue was able to be accommodated.) Anyway, 5 stars!!!!! Wishing Scott the best + so grateful for the memories!!! Also lol at my husband’s foot sunburn - just wanted to display some of the black sand beach magic

Scott, our tour guide was top-notch... his vast knowledge of Hawaiian history made it a very informative and enjoyable day. Going to Volcano National Park to the top of Kilauea to see the caldera and craters was an amazing experience, and we heard many stories about the lava fields and channels on the drive along the way. Added highlights were stops at Thurston Lava Tube, Akaka Falls and other historic state parks, including a black sand beach near the end of the tour. Scott continued a detailed overview of all that we saw and made the trip worthwhile.

Amazing time with Scott and the volcano van! Great information about the drive and specific sights. He had a scope and binoculars which highlighted views at lava flow. Would go again. He also recommended Greenwell coffee farm tour. That was also very good and worth the time and money.

Volcano Man was an awesome tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about The Big Island and all of the volcanic information you could possibly want! We were lucky enough to be here during an eruption and he knew just where to stand and brought awesome equipment to see it up close. The bamboo forest and lava tubes were so cool. It was a magnificent excursion! Beyond our expectations. Scott, our driver/tour guide was wonderful. Not only did he take us literally around the Big Island but he really plussed the experience with his incredible knowledge about the islands’ history (geographically, politically, etc. ) and the science behind all the past and recent volcanic activities and how they shaped the island.. Standing at the edge of the crater seeing steam rising from the vents was magical. I highly recommend this particular experience. Cannot imagine anything better than The Volcano Van!!

Scott was fabulous!!! We had what was a private tour because there were no other bookings on our day, wow, a $1200 value. Scott took us to a black sand beach and saw turtles, then Volcanoes National park to see the steaming caldera, then the lava tube caves, then to a beach with craggy black lava formations, Laupahoehoe, then old town Hilo with its Monkey Pod tree collection, whew…9 hours of driving! We saw 75% of the entire Kona Island….THANKS SCOTT! Wonderful trip.
