What To Expect

With its thundering waterfalls, deeply carved valleys, and verdant, tropical rainforest, Hilo is the perfect place to go ziplining and soar across the sky. This Hilo zipline tour takes place not far from Akaka Falls State Park, and features a dramatic aerial view of Kolekole Falls. This section of the Big Island, along the Hamakua Coast, is known for its beautiful botanical gardens and abundance of cascading falls. Experiencing the scenery from up in the air is an adventure you’ll never forget.

This Hilo zipline course spans seven lines, and also features views of the Pacific Ocean from up on the mountainous ridgelines. The course is designed for all comfort levels, as the first line is the shortest which then build up from there. Even if you’ve never been zipling before or have gone a dozen times, there are views, thrills, and heart-stopping moments that all different skill levels can enjoy. Additionally, each of the lines are named after a traditional staple of Hawaiian agriculture, and your guide will offer historical insight on native Hawaiian culture, as well as teach you sustainable practices that are still important to this day. You’ll even get to sample some tropical Hawaiian fruits while walking between the lines.

Finally, having already successfully crossed six lines, the pièce de résistance is the final line that is believed to be one of the longest ziplines in the country. As if the length isn't dramatic enough, you’ll soar right over a 250-foot (76-meter) waterfall while zipping between the two ridgelines, with the cobalt waters of the Pacific Ocean completing the view.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

We had an amazing ziplining experience with our guides! They were very professional and made us feel at ease from the very start. The whole tour was so fun it flew by in a flash. It was perfect in that the 7 ziplines were designed to ease you into increasing levels of "difficulty" in terms of height and length. On top of everything else, the views were incredible (even in parts when we were walking from one zipline to the next). Would highly recommend to anyone!

We were on the Big Island celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Neither of us had ever been zip lining before. What an excellent set-up. Our two guides, Byron and Monique, started our group on a "baby" zip line, just to acquaint us with the experience. They then took us slowly through bigger and bigger lines, teaching us along the way. Then, the last two lines took our breath away (in a good fashion - the beauty!). The first was over a deep chasm. The finale - over the chasm again, but this time with a spectacular view of a huge waterfall. What a treat!

This was my wife's first time ziplining and she had a blast! The experience was fun and friendly to beginners starting small and working up to the half-mile zipline going over the beautiful KoleKole Falls. Both of the instructors shared fun facts about the island throughout the trip, were very attentive to safety and had a great sense of humor.

Amazing Big Island Family Ziplining

This ziplining experience lived up to its reviews on multiple travel sites! For those that want to see the lush, rainforest side of the Big Island, this zipline experience is the way to do it. The biggest thing for me was how comfortable the zipline tour guides made my wife, who has NEVER done a zipline before and has a fear of heights. They started with “baby lines” that would help people like my wife get used to zip lining. All that built up to longer lines with phenomenal views of nature, the water and of course, the KoleKole waterfall! It was also very much appreciated to learn some history about the Big Island from the zip line guides, as well as the humor they added to lighten the mood for the entire group. They were always very clear in instructions and followed all safety protocols, which should make any guest comfortable doing a zip line with them. Lastly, the views from the zipline were worth it! Seeing the KoleKole Falls, and the other canyons and foliage, you felt like time slowed down. It was a surreal experience. I would highly recommend doing this zip line tour for amazing views, great people leading the experience and for those looking to zip line for the first time. They checked all the boxes - my family enjoyed every minute!
