Fascinating & arduous, also fun

Garay is a fantastic guide & Christian a terrific driver. The bus was very comfortable & cool on a hot September day. But Garay made the very special & fun. Speaking in both Spanish & English he was clear, informative & memorable. We had a terrific experience.

Beautiful sites. 4 stars only because bus was late and it was a little difficult to understand our guide Stefan. Stefan was knowledgeable and gave good recommendation on local wine. I recommend meeting place “xxx meters from The Puppy” and by tourist bus stop. If bus is late, tourists can be a little more relaxed, specially if email say meet 20 minutes EARLIER than what Viator ticket/ email/ txt say.

A great climb and Basque History!

This was a great tour. Our bus was quite full. We had a Spanish and an English guide which we really appreciated. The climb up to the top of San Juan de Gaztelugatze was strenuous but the views were spectacular. Bermeo was quaint but much needed after the climb for a drink and pintxos. Gernika was very historical and I appreciate the Basque culture much more now. Our guide Cary was fantastic, full of energy and Basque history. My only thought is to have the Bermeo stop be a bit longer so we could eat a nicer lunch. Also please be aware of “restroom” stops especially for us ladies. In Gernika there were at least 10 of us going to the little facilities in the park. Thank goodness!

We loved this tour! They picked us up in a very nice touring bus, that was comfortable for the long day on the road. The guides gave great information and were super helpful. Gaztelugatxe was INCREDIBLE but getting there is a challenging hike. Even if you don’t climb the steps, just the walk to the base is very steep and difficult if you’re not in good shape. I suggest wearing good shoes and bringing water. We were very glad we did this tour and would absolutely recommend.

I think Gaztelugatxe is ana amazing places. I wish out tour guide will a lease walk us to the view point and explain to us all the stories. He just said, you are on your own, and left us alone. On the way back to the bus after the walk, the tour. guide should wait at the Restaurant so, people don’t get disorientated and help them find his way. But both tour guides just sad inside the bus. The spanish speaking was very active but the English one is lazy. This a very hard walking trail. If you are not in great shape be careful, because coming back is very difficult. Gatzelugatxe us an amazing place you should see. The sop in Bermeo is only 45 mins and the trip to Garnica and stop is with tour guide and super short. I will spend more time in Bermeo and not go to Granica.

Una buena experiencia, todo bien organizado. El paseo es muy exigente físicamente, quizá seria necesario disponer de más tiempo. Nuestro guía Estefan nos explicó todo muy bien, atendió todas nuestras consultas y le estamos agradecidos porque fue muy atento en todo momento. Es una experiencia muy recomendable.

Die Gruppe wurde immer aufgeteilt: spanisch/englisch. Beide haben sehr gutes Englisch gesprochen. Beide waren sehr informativ und freundlich. Relativ gute Fitness für die "Wanderung" in Gazrelugatxe sollte vorhanden sein. In Bermeo und Gernika je kurze informative Ortsführungen.

La caminata a Gatxelugatxe, hermoso lugar. Sugiero que lleven refacción para el camino y papel de baño para usar el sanitario de la reserva, el cual se sitúa solo al inicio, el guía se los indicará. Excelente guía por cierto!

Se necesita buena forma, pensar en que hay que volver y desde luego algo más de tiempo.

Las vistas durante el recorrido son excepcionales, nos diluvio durante la subida lo que no deja ser un atractivo de la zona, pese a la incomodidad de mojarte, hay que bajar y en el punte tomar la decisión, volveré con tiempo, estoy convencido que a mi ritmo hubiera llegado a la ermita.
