Terrific tour

The tour was excellent. It was just the right length (2 hours) and gave lots of detailed information about the history of Bologna, particularly the relevant information regarding the area and the buildings that we saw/visited. It started around the Piazza del Nettuno (Neptune, Roman god of the sea)…..but why is there a statue and square dedicated to an ancient Roman god? Go on the tour to find out!! It was a cloudy but mild September day. The tour guide (Benedicta) spoke very knowledgeably in excellent English, packing loads of facts in an interesting way. Definitely a great experience but you do need to concentrate and listen so if you are prone to “zone out” then do so at your peril! We gave a tip at the end, as did all the other participants (about 20 of us) and it was gratefully received by the guide! Fantastic.

Our guide told us the story of the painter and how things came to pass. She filled in the blanks of how and why the church construction was not complete. She told us the story of the people back in ancient times and why wars were started. She was fantastic.

We were happy to get a last minute tour for Bologna. We were able to book a same day tour. Generally we don’t do group tours because it’s hard to hear and herd people around. But we had earpieces that made it helpful. It was great seeing the major sites in Bologna. It’s a busy city as you can imagine. My only suggestion is to be mindful of the noise level at the starting point in front of the Neptune statue. We spent a lot of time there at the start of the tour and it was really hard to hear the guide. Other than that Bologna is a fantastic city to visit.

During our visit to Bologna, my son and I took part in the Bologna City Tour, which lasted for 2 hours. It was an incredibly informative experience and we felt that it was definitely worth the money. The tour provided us with a lot of insight into Bologna's culture and took us to various places that we wouldn't have known to visit otherwise. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna.

Our guy, Guida was very knowledgable and able to prrsent the information in an entertaining but very informative way. Not a good ‘city’ tour.

We left the tour. It was not what We expected. We were in a church talking about all the artifacts for a half an hour or more and left during that time part where I really thought it was a tour of the city and a not so much about the church.

The City Walking Tour consists of a tour of the city center to discover its history, art, culture and curiosities, also including entrance to the Basilica of San Petronio, a very important attraction of the city as in the description of the tour that you purchased. very interesting walking tour, the tour guide had an amazing knowledge and we really enjoyed to do something else than eating again ;-) - although I would do the tour next time in the morning if available, 3pm it was hot and after 2 1/2 hours we were tired from walking and skipped the last stop. Better be good by foot. ;-) We liked the tour and really enjoyed it.
