Sampling of Brooklyn from a Local Perspective

Angelo, our tour guide, was awesome with energy and communication. We learned a lot about Brooklyn and Dumbo area and were able to try samples from local eateries. He was able to answer questions and give recommendations for other things to do in the area.
Brooklyn via my tummy
MarioArnulfo_D, Jan 2023
A perfect way to get to know Brooklyn, through it's food. Egg sandwiches bagels, cookies and empanadas were great. My sister-in-law remarked that we we've explored places they haven't been to - and she lives in NYC. Highlight was Juliana's pizza. You know why there's a queue everyday, even in the middle of winter.

Had a wonderful tour with Angelo. His knowledge of the area and the history behind Brooklyn was engaging and enjoyable. Our kids had a great time on this tour. Saw parts of Brooklyn that we would not of seen on our own. Great photo opportunities. The food was great and plentiful. Angelo went out of his way to find gluten free options for my wife. Would highly recommend this tour.
Angelo was amazing.

Angelo was an amazing guide who not only gave us the history of Brooklyn and DUMBO but also was great at sharing stories of inclusivity. All the food told a story as well if neighbours supporting each other and the resilience of people and communities. I would highly recommend this tour. And don’t forget the views.

Tour content and tour guide make you feel like a NYC local.

The perfect combination of sightseeing and eating great food. Especially liked the emphasis on local, traditional "Ma and Pa" businesses. Hannah was extremely accommodating to tour participants' preferences - a flexible itinerary so everyone certainly got the most out of the three hours. So nice to have a local New Yorker as tour guide. For me, the start time of day (10am) was the best.
Mix quality snacks with some Brooklyn history (ya DUMBO!)
P_G, Oct 2022
Angelo did a great job of providing a good mix of historical information (particularly about the Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Heights) with various sampling snacks (bagels, dumplings, fried pickles, pizza and chocolate BON BONS (said in American accent)). He was always focused on ensuring the group had a good time with quality food and his research showed. We really enjoyed the group getting together at the end at the Timeout Market to share a range of foods and the random insights into the area including celebrity sightings. A couple of suggestions for next time: 1- the meeting spot isn't easy to find for those not familiar with the area (the meeting address provided was, somewhat oddly, an apartment building and the address number was under scaffolding so not immediately clear). Perhaps simply meet in the nearby park next to the soccer field or near a landmark like outside the library down the street? 2 - We also thought the tour could've moved a bit quicker at times. It became quite tiring (yet worth it). Thanks for an interesting half-day outside of Manhattan. Give this tour a go!

Hello and thank you for attending our Dumbo tour! We appreciate your feedback. Apologies that our meeting place was a bit tricky to find. To make this simple for travelers, we do have to have an exact address, which unfortunately does not exist in the park across the street. And the construciton on the building has made this tricky. We will look to see how this can be improved upon. We are happy to hear you enjoyed Angelo and the food. We typically have this tour run at 3 hours and sometimes a guide may go a bit over time in his/her efforts to be thorough and create the best possible experience. We will look to see ways to have this stay within the time allocated.

A real treat in Brooklyn
KarenL_P, Oct 2022
Angelo, the guide, really researched the area and told fascinating tales of both the good and the history of the area. He kept us moving and entertained, educated, throughout the entire tour. We have already recommended the tour to other friends. The bagel with schmear was outstanding, and the egg sandwich from Vineapple were outstanding. Loved the dumplings and Jacques Torres chocolates too!

Great into to Brooklyn history and food!
Wallace_F, Sep 2022
Great tour of historic neighborhood section of Brooklyn, walk across 1/2 the bridge, and to the Time Out Market with a couple of other neighborhood stops. Guide was passionate about sharing important stories, very caring about guests needs, and helpful with photos. Good bit of fast paced walking with some standing rest stops and 2 “sitting” rests which was nice. Food tastings were good. Julianna’s pizza was our favorite. Was fun to take $2.75 ferry back to midtown Manhattan after the tour. Our group was 70, 49, and 28.
