Elodie was a wonderful guide to all the specialty food of Brussels. She blended the ambiance of the city with bits of history, as we enjoyed our cuisine. Plenty to eat on this tour. We loved the little tavern she chose for the beer stop, well done, Elodie.

Nice Guide, overpriced, easily confused starting point

This tour was little more than we could have experienced on our own. To start with, the guide's instructions are to meet at the Brussels Comic Museum, in front of the Smurf statue, be aware that there are 2 of these- yes 2 Brussels comic museums and each has a Smurf statue. After waiting 30 minutes I was able to reach out to the organizer, who said there was some mistake with the tour guide and she would be right there. another 30 minutes and the guide sends a message and we end up exchanging messages for another 30 minutes to discover she was at a different Brussels Comic Museum. Another 30 minutes and we finally meet up with the guide, who was very nice. By the time we got going, we had maybe 1 hour 45 minutes with ther guide before she had to go because of previous plans. We had 5 tastings, cooked cod, beer, Fries, bread and cheese and a candy sample. All of these things were in a small area of Brussels and ll of them we could have done on our own. Nice guide, way overpriced tour, 5 tastings not 10 (4 without the beer), save your money, get a map of the central Brussels area (all walking distances) near the Grand Palace, and spend maybe 40 Euros.

Private Brussels Food Tour: 10 tastings

Our rating for this tour is average in comparison with another tour we took last week in London called Eating Europe, which was a small group tour. This Brussels Food tour was a private tour and we received much less. Here are the items we were disappointed with: There was no history given unless asked; There was no working relationship/pre-arrangement with vendors, which caused us to have to wait for the guide to order and no reserved tables. No water was provide at each stop and the one stop we used the bathroom there was no toilet paper (not even a holder!) and dirty. Finally, we did not receive one of our tastings because the shop was closed (which was unbelievable since this was a booked tour) and no substitute was provided. The positive was that the food was good and was a nice mixture of tastings of Brussels food culinary.

Disappointing

We booked this private tour thinking it would accommodate for our 3 person group. We told them one person had a seafood allergy. Our guide never got the info and said it was too late to change anything. She asked about allergies but there was no point because nothing was changed to accommodate the allergy issue. So, we thought meals were pre-ordered. They weren't. We went to 8 places (not 10) and time management was an issues. We spend 45 min at the first place and then had to rush through the last 4. The amount of food was also an issue. For three of us, we were given one bowl of soup to share at one place, 2 cookies to share at the bakery & one falafel sandwich to split. For the beer tasting, our guide bought 3 bottles of the same beer! We thought we would get 3 different types. For a private tour, it was a "canned" itinerary. We were never asked what we would like (Ex: what type of beer we prefer) or any particular food we wanted to try. All in all, it was a great idea but not executed well and too expensive for the amount of food we were able to try.

Way Overpriced

We were disappointed with the tour overall, particularly the quality of the food. Our tour guide was engaging and knowledgeable about Brussels' history but could have dressed a little more professionally. This was the first day of our 8 day visit and we quickly learned the food samplings were average at best. When we visited Nordzee we were offered the cheapest thing on the menu, a bowl of so-so fish soup. We later discovered all of the excellent offerings on their menu for just a few Euros more. For the price, we should have experienced the best Brussels has to offer.

A RIP Off!

We only experienced FOUR (4) tastings. Our guide had to tun off to another tour. We stood on a long line to taste beef stew and Belgium fries. The tour guide fed her dog some our our fries. This was a rip off. What happened to the other food samples? And no drink samples at all. We didn't get our money's worth. I'LL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!
