      Megget`s Cellar, 28 Blair Street, EH1 1QR. This tour ends in Megget's Cellar, which is located half way down the stairs to the Blair Street Underground Vaults, right underneath our main booking office.

    What To Expect

    Meet your guide on High Street and set off to explore the closes and wynds of Edinburgh’s Old Town. As you stroll through the dimly lit streets, your guide sets the scene with stories of Edinburgh’s murky past; tales of torture, murder, and witchcraft on the city streets; and of course, the legends of the city’s ghosts and ghouls.

    Hear about the riots of the Edinburgh Mob as you pass the Mercat Cross, then descend into the Blair Street Underground Vaults to uncover the secrets of that lie beneath the city streets. Don’t be surprised if you sense some ghostly happenings—ghosts like Jack, Mr. Boots, and The Watcher reside here.

    Finally, finish your tour in the atmosphere room at Megget's Cellar, where you are served a dram of Scotch whisky to help calm your nerves before you venture back to your hotel.

    Fay was a fluent, charming, intelligent and, thankfully, calming guide for a superb and powerful dip into these dark vaults. Be warned that it has some horribly gory elements. The whisky at the end, with accompanying ghost stories, was very welcome! I highly recommend this tour.

    We knew this wasn't going to be "scary" but didn't have any idea how....not scary it would be. Our guide Scott was really nice and the walk to the vaults was nice, despite the rain (it's Scotland) but it really was lackluster. I feel like photos should have been encouraged. Yes, no flash due to it being dark but try to have some fun with it. The ending with the whiskey tasting, it was nice that you weren't committed to having just whiskey. There were other options, which was nice. But to feel like we were obligated to stay after the "tasting", that was a bummer. We would have left. Or would have been nice to again been encouraged to take some nice, fun photos. We felt like jerks for trying to have a bit of fun with it. Scott, again, really great guy and informative....needs to have a little more fun.

    Our guide Neave was absolutely wonderful and told scary, grisly ghost stories all night in the vaults. The whisky at the end was excellent and spooky atmosphere. Highly recommend! You learn some history and had all the eery vibes of Edinburgh.

    Faye was a great story teller and the stories were all interesting and captivating as well as funny in places. The portion in Megget's Cellar when the lights were out felt like we were in a cosy tavern listening to a bard regale us with entertaining stories of the local area.
