I loved the way the whole crew was very helpful and knowledgeable. They all made sure everyone understood instructions and guided us through the trip. They had tents for us to see the bio luminescence in the water, and that was a great add! Tour guided which I don’t remember the names, were suoer helpful, when it got dark, one of them helped by wearing a light and it made the whole difference. I would definitely go back, because 2hrs were perfect but I want more! We could star gaze and saw the dawn, so it was the whole package, nature wise. I recommend it fully!

Great experience and the guides/instructors were amazing!! Highly recommend it, even if you have never done kayak.

Fun paddling through the mangroves!
Margaret_B, Feb 2023
We had a really fun Main guide with a good sense of humor. The e tire activity was very well organized , adequate time to review safety rules , and was not rushed. There was adequate time for paddling through the mangroves and in the bioluminescent bay. We were able to see the bioluminescence in the bay and on our way back paddling through the mangroves. Overall very enjoyable.
Great experience!

A great experience! We did the 5:30 tour, and enjoyed paddling through the mangrove forest, sunset on the bay, and the sparkly bioluminescence. Our guide, Emily, was excellent. She was knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining. A great experience all around!
Great experience

Great Tour at the Bioluminescent Bay
Nadine_W, Aug 2022
I went on this tour with my daughter and had a great time. Our tour guides were Ashley, Nichi, and Michael. We were provided with a safety briefing and a quick kayaking lesson. It was not our first time kayaking. However, there were first-timers in the group. Once we started, one guide led the group, while one was in the middle of the pack and the other in the rear. So no one was left behind. The path to the bay was windy and full of mangroves. But the guides gave us great directions so there were no issues. Once we reached the open water, the guides discussed what gives the bioluminescent bay its glow. As it was a little hard to see the glow initially, the guides gave us a tarp to cover ourselves with to create total darkness. It made it much easier to see the glow once we splashed the water a little. Once the tour ended, we were each provided with snacks and bottled water. Avilo, Ashley, Nichi, and Michael were super friendly and helpful. I even got restaurant recommendations from them at the end of the tour. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour.
Beautiful and fun experience!!

This trip was amazing! The price was so great for the experience. The tour guides were helpful friendly and fun! Couldn’t have asked for a better time!
Lovely adventure
Robin_P, Aug 2022
We really enjoyed kayaking in the moonlight through the mangroves into the lagoon. We could see some bioluminescence under the tarp and could stir it up a bit with paddles. There was a good ratio of guide to partipant and we weren’t bothered by having a lot of groups out there as other reviewers were. Raphael was very personable.
Fun way to spend an evening
Jen_G, Dec 2021
The crew did an excellent job organizing everyone, explaining everything, and safety. They were friendly and made the experience fun! Paddling through the mangrove was particularly peaceful.we didn't see a lot of bioluminescence because of the moonlight, but they covered us with a tarp so we could see it better. Would totally do it again!
Great time.

The tour guides were very helpful and a lot of fun. Would definitely do it again. Great time had by all.
Must see experience!
Anna_T, Nov 2021
Magical! We had a group of 10. The whole experience was top notch from beginning to end from the sounds of nature to the natural bioluminescent beauty! It was extremely well run, the guides were knowledgeable and fun! A must see if you are visiting Puerto Rico as there are only two other places in the world to see this natural phenomenon!

Thanks to you guys for making our experience totally awesome! The tour guides loves nature They are vey knowledgeable in their job and their surroundings. They are friendly and made us feel comfortable. The bioluminescent bay is mesmerizing.
Could be better
Angelica_D, Oct 2021
The staff were friendly but there was too many inexperienced people in a group at one time. There should be a beginner and experienced group. Everyone should have headlamps to have assistance in visibility.
Had a blast!!

Amazing experience and excellent staff!! So glad my girlfriend and I went. We also got a much needed little workout lol
Don't waste your money

I booked this trip based on the description provided on the website however this trip is anything but truthful in what the luminescent Bay has to offer. The kayak was the only part of this trip that was accurate. Once we got out into the Bay they had you cover your cover your entire kayak with a tarp and wave your had in the water below telling you there would be luminescent light to see. There was a tint of what might have been lightbut I wasn't even sure it was supposed to be anything, but definitely nowhere near the descriptions given. If you ask me, this was a HUGE ripoff.

It is important to remember that this activity is a nature encounter. On the other hand, false advertising is a practice many others partake in when it comes to the Laguna Grande Bioluminescent Bay. At Puerto Rico Access Eco Tours we do not promote this, and rather choose to appreciate and show the charm of all our non-exaggerated pictures –and information– found on our website (accesstourspr.com) and other media. It is also paramount to note that Laguna Grande is a Federal Nature Reserve. Access to the reserve is limited and only licensed companies, like us, by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural Resources can legally offer trips to this protected area. We are a very open company and would have liked if you would have approached our managers after your experience to share your thoughts, finding together a way to make up for your dissatisfaction. Safe regards, Alexander
Evident Power Outage in the Bay.

The absolute worst excursion I’ve ever experienced. Good luck to anyone who isn’t a life long paddler. You’re required to row a mile and a half through mangroves into a bay where we saw ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. A tarp was thrown over our head and we then saw a tiny sparkle. The paddling back against the current was nearly impossible. Pitch black and left alone. Finally a guide did come to our rescue. Like I said worst ever. Never have I been on an excursion with people crying and having panic attacks. Not being able to see where you’re going is frightening. So pretty much it was intense rowing to see nothing….all for the bargain price of 700.00 for our party.
Fun,adventurous

Very cool kayaking through the jungle in the dark …the bioluminescence part was just ok you couldn’t really see it glow like the pictures but you saw something
Don’t do it.
Shanetlle, Jul 2021
If you are coming from San Juan not worth the drive of 1.5-2 hours to get there. Uber taxi services not available. Smells. Very dark and unsafe experience for my family. Staff was very kind and friendly, but the experience was not worth the time and money.
A tough sighting
Rich_V, Jul 2021
The bioluminescent was very difficult to see when we went. The tour company provided tarps that covered all of our kayaks (there were 19) and it was still difficult to see them. I heard it was from the past storm that has made it difficult to see the bioluminescence. On the way back, we had a difficult time seeing because it was so dark that we would run into trees or other kayaker in our group. The team that ran the tour company were amazing, they were friendly, funny and helpful - I just wish we would have been able to see a clearer bioluminescent.
Better thought out illumination
Mike_C, Jul 2021
It was fun, but could be better. Kayaks should be better lit and have a mounted red lamp on the bow…one person in each kayak should have been a red light headlamp. Also, obstacles could easily be marked without affecting the ecosystem. There are points where you’re paddling nearly blind. We had fun and would still recommend this tour!
Go for it!!
Roger_L, Jul 2021
Fun and unique experience. Tour guides did well, despite weather. Rained on us multiple times, but no one but God has control over that. Had to use the tarp to get dark enough to see the lit up plankton, but they were certainly there. Very cool to experience. Would recommend this to any visitors. But hopefully the weather would be more cooperative.
Biolum fun

Awesome kayaking expedition. Kids loved it. Tour guides were informative, friendly, and fun. Once in a lifetime experience. Tips: doable with younger kids but be prepared to do most of the paddling. Also wear clothes/footwear you don’t t mind getting soaked.
Fantastic, Would absolutely go again!
Ryan_H, Jun 2021
I heard a lot of mixed opinions going into the night. "It was a full moon", "There is a seaweed infestation", "weather is bad today", etc. After all of that this company still pulled through. They made the entire tour experience worth it and took every opportunity to teach about what has been going on locally and explain how beautiful the bay normally is. I would 100% go again even under the same conditions. Thank you to the crew for the trip and the great attitudes. I hope nothing but the best for the bay and for everything to return as it once was! I will say this tour is not for the faint of heart. On a rough tide it may be difficult to navigate back in the dark.
The tour guide David was very nice. He made the experience fun.
Selena_B, Jun 2021
It was nice because it was at night. The kids enjoyed it. They gave us a snack at the end. It was in a nice little location. A few restaurants near by and a cute little park for the kids close by while we waited for the time to do our tour.
Beautiful bay
Douglas_T, Jun 2021
The kayaking was slow due to some inexperienced people in the group but the guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The bay was beautiful! There were tons of mosquitoes though. Make sure you use copious amounts of bug spray.

This excursion was amazing our tour guides was great. I highly recommend you bring bug spray or use the spray they provide at check in because the mosquitoes bite through your clothes.
