Magical experience
Jaclyn_W, Jan 2023
Fun experience kayaking under the moonlight. I found this to be peaceful and magical paddling through the mangroves. My husband and teenage daughter on the other hand were surprised with such a workout. It’s 90% kayaking through the mangroves and 10% seeing the micro organisms. I wish there was a heads up of what to wear… you step in the water up to your ankles, and you get soaked from the waste down from sitting in the kayak and having water drip all over. Wear flip flops and bring a change of clothes. No flashes are allowed, so no need to go through the trouble of water proofing your phone. Altogether a good time.

You will get wet participating in any activity involving a beach, river, pool, or anything else with water. Being mindful that this is a night kayaking tour through a mangrove forest, please dress accordingly. We publish information in the tour description and SMS notifications in an effort to raise awareness of the activity. Please read the text we send you for your convenience in addition to the description.
A Glowing Experience
James_S, Jan 2023
This was our first Viator booking and our first tour in PR. It did not disappoint. We (group of about 30) were accompanied by 4 guides, and given a quick but useful tutorial for kayaking. As other reviewers commented, be prepared to kayak in the dark. It’s really a courtesy to all the other visitors and tour operators. All I can say is that it was entirely worth it, even with a couple collisions with mangrove branches on the way. Just understand that the bioluminescence depends on a variety of factors. (Do some research). We were happy with what we saw. A wholly unique experience!!!
Magical winter solstice on Biobay
Bridget_C, Dec 2022
Kayaking through the mangroves was so magical, stars were incredible, tarpon were jumping and our guide had great energy! She even shined her head lamp so we could catch a glimpse of an iguana in the trees. Seeing the glowing Microorganisms under the tarp was the best!
Amazing experience!! A must-do

Such a fun excursion, our guide was incredible, the experience of kayaking through the mangroves to to biobay was fun and the bioluminescence was so cool and worth the money and effort to get there.
Pitch dark, cool, unique
Janice_M, Sep 2022
It was a new moon when we went so it was pitch black rowing through the mangroves which was an experience on its own. We floated for a bit in Laguna Grande and then headed back. When we put the oars or hands in the water it glowed. Super cool. Rowing back through the mangroves against the current was hard but our guide Rafael helped us. Very unique experience

Awesome Tour

Located perfectly at the entrance of the mangrove, saves you the effort of not having to kayak across strong currents. The tour was fun and informative, with the guides giving clear instructions to navigate through the mangroves.
Try it, you'll like it!

Really nice, fun, and knowledgeable guides who took us through the channel into the protected bay where we got to see the flagellates. They had a lot of great info, stories, and passion for the area that showed. Big props to Carlos for being funny and making the journey enjoyable.
cant see the lights good

Fabulous Time

Had a fabulous time last night at Bio Bay Tour! Rafael and the crew were awesome. The kayak through Mangrove Forrest was a one of a kind experience. Although weather wasn’t cooperative to see the full extent of the plankton, the crew was prepared with a tarp to ensure we had a great experience! Would definitely love to bring the entire family back. Thanks so much guys!
Night time fun in the bio bay

Glows in the Dark.

Cool trip. Kayaking through the mangroves and into the lagoon is really fun. Talia was a fantastic guide and very helpful with my husband who was a little leery about doing the trip. Better to go when the moon is not at its apex. The whole crew was very helpful and friendly.
Night Kayak
Brittany_A, Sep 2021
The trip kayaking to Laguna Grande Bay was incredible! Starting through the mangroves was a thrilling adventure and it seemed surreal! The bay was beautiful by moonlight. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the bioluminescence too well because there had recently been too much rain. We did get to see it under the dark tarp, but it looked nothing like Instagram. Thank you Taleia, and AJ for a great experience!
Fun crew
MaryC_M, Aug 2021
The crew was very fun. Kayaking in the dark was fun but somewhat stressful as we could not clearly see what was around us. We also did not see much bioluminescence
Fun experience

We booked our trip with the family and were excited about the experience. Communication leading up to the event was great! The time was an hour later than I had previously booked but they told us in advance. The guides were very friendly especially Emily. And the gentlemen checking us in werefriendly and really nice. There were a lot of people in our group and also with the other companies that were at the bay. (10 groups total which made the kayaking very crowded and it was difficult not to crash into other boats in the pitch black. The experience overall was good but I would have preferred less people and it also would have been helpful to have more education about kayaking before we boarded the trip. Knowing how to navigate the with the crowds would have been a better experience. The flagellates were very hard to see and that was a bit disappointing too but no fault to the tour company. Just lower your expectations about seeing the glow in the water.

The kayaking through the canopy of trees was thrilling. I loved the animal sounds and darkness. Totally worth the trip.
2 hours under the moon and stars
Daniel_B, Jul 2021
Was a wonderful experience kayaking at night under the moon and stars! Bioluminescent bay was a little disappointing I guess because I was expecting more sparkle from the water but the overall trip was exceptional
