My first trip to Florence

Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. The electric bikes were very nice especially going up the hills. Amazing way to see key sights of the whole city in a short time

What a great tour!! This was our favorite we did in all of Italy. We got to see so much of the city and also the view at Piazza Michaelangelo. Our guide provided great history and information along the way. I have already recommended this tour to other friends. I highly recommend it, but know you should be an adequate biker. Weaving through tourists and local street traffic in Florence is quite something!

Tour started okay by visiting Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Then went ahead to visit another plaza where we looked at a map of the city. our tour guide was okay but didn’t feel we learned too much. Then we proceeded to go uphill for ~ 20-30 minutes, and the tour guide left part of the group behind. He was going very fast, and not waiting for the whole group before crossing lights. This felt very irresponsible. We are in our early 30s, and and older couple was left behind and got lost. We then went to Piazzale Michelangelo, were we had a fantastic view of the city, but overall no history at all from the tour guide. Oh the way back, our tour guide kept going without looking behind, and some group members stayed behind, since the lights in Florence change very quickly and there’s is a lot of car and pedestrian traffic. We all got lost at the end, but found our way back. This could had been an overall great experience, but so far has been the worst tour that I have ever taken.

Let me begin by saying I have taken Viator tours many times and they NEVER disappoint. They run their tours well and are a great value. This bike tour was with Antonio and he was amazing! So knowledgeable, kind and patient with a couple of 60 year olds biking around crowded Florence. I highly recommend this tour as we leaned so much and ask for Antonio!!!

The ride was about 11km, initially in the city passing the cathedral etc, but then crossing the Arno with a good view of the Ponte Vecchio and climbing up a hill to the beautiful 11th century Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte and returning by another route. The bike was comfortable, with intuitive gears. The tour guide was informative, engaging and set a gentle pace on the climb up the hill, the views are stunning and the information gleaned informed the rest of our stay in Florence Thank you for a lovely morning.

A good introduction to the city

My son and I had scheduled a tour for the morning, but because of illness it was rescheduled for the evening. The one in the evening was on battery powered bikes! I was a bit nervous for my son who was on a new bike, in a new city (and not particularly bike friendly city), and now had an engine at his disposal. But he was so excited, and the guide and the people in the bike shop were very helpful about setting him up. We both got helmets and they had a number of different ones and we each found ones that fit well. Our guide was phenomenal with my 10 year old son and made sure he was right behind him on the whole journey and kept giving him encouragement and suggestions for safely riding. The tour itself was nice, a brief stop and mythos for each part of the city. The bike lanes and beautiful scenery up to Piazzale Michelangelo were my favorite part.

We spent our first morning in Florence on the bike tour. It was wonderful. Our guide had great information about the city and obviously had a love for the culture and the art. The tour was not overly challenging and even the climb to Piazzale Michelangelo was manageable for all ages Overall a fantastic time. Enjoy.

If you want a fun and entertaining way to experience Florence I HIGHLY recommend this tour. Lorenzo our guide knew everything about Florence and shared the best highlights. He was extremely engaging but not overly verbose. The trip was over before we knew it but we now had a perfect understanding of where to retrace and explore further. It’s the perfect way to build out your own tour plan. And the operator/owner was all smiles and even ran down a half block to retrieve us because we were at the wrong address. The bikes were modern and easy to ride. Five stars is a no brained for cost vs value.
