What To Expect

After meeting your guide in the historic city center, you'll begin your gourmet food tour of Florence by learning about how Tuscany's culinary history and respect for quality produce carries into how Tuscans continue to make food to this day.

Your first stop is at a delicatessen that specializes in truffles, a particularly sought-after commodity in Tuscany, and learn how locals forage for the valuable fungus. Here, you'll sample a panino tartufato, a pâté sandwich topped with shavings of those prized truffles, accompanied by a glass of sparkling prosecco.

The next stop at an artisan chocolatier allows you to treat your sweet tooth. You'll taste different chocolates in a guided tasting session, learning what sets handmade chocolates apart, before heading to a very popular shop selling Tuscan olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Here, you'll have another guided tasting, learning about the variation olive oils can have from fruity to peppery.

Wandering further from the olive oil shop, you'll indulge in a gelato treat from a beloved local gelateria and finally end your tour at a wine bar. Enjoy some warm-from-the-oven focaccia bread and a glass of one of Tuscany's most famous wines – Chianti – while you review what you've tasted and plot your next meal.

Even though all the stops were practically within a few blocks of our meeting place, each was unique with insights and information we certainly would not have gotten otherwise! This experience was the best. Serena (not sure about that spelling) was charming and knowledgeable. Our group was small—only four of us—and it was perfect. We did wine tasting, stopped for gelato and chocolates, cheese, olive oil tasting, sandwiches and more wine. There is also a toilet break (no charge lol). Serena gave us tips and suggestions for finding the best food in area. Book this one early in your stay for a heads up while in Florence.

Wouldn't do this again - not worth the money

I've waited until our month long tour of Italy until doing my reviews so I can compare all of our experiences and unfortunately this was the worst tour of about 10 we did in Italy. You don't learn any more than you would walking the streets yourself & experiencing the food yourself. Spend your money on the walking tour instead & ask some foody questions along the way. Oh & our guide was late!
