What To Expect

Start the day with skip-the-line access to the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s 'David.' Nothing prepares you for the scale of this sculptural masterpiece. Your guide helps you appreciate the artistry from every angle, including the techniques Michelangelo used to make marble look smooth as butter.

The highlight of the city walking tour is the Florence Cathedral, whose incredible red dome is the city’s crown jewel. The dome was not without challenges for architect Filippo Brunelleschi, as your guide explains while you view the masterpiece from outside. Entrance to the Duomo is always free, so you can come back at any time to explore the cathedral in more depth, equipped with an abundance of knowledge shared by your expert, local guide.

Your tour continues through the historic center of Florence, taking in the Piazza Signoria, where 'David' once stood.

Skip the line once more at the Uffizi Gallery. Our coordinator will hand you the ticket to enter this immense gallery where you will visit at your own pace, wasting no time in showcasing works by Da Vinci, Botticelli, and Titian. Don’t forget to rub the nose of 'Il Porcellino,' Pietro Tacca’s Baroque bronze boar sculpture, to bring the rest of your vacation good luck.

Whether you’re only in Florence for a day or settling in for a longer stay, this is the perfect introduction to a city where beauty awaits around every corner.

Palazzo Vecchio

Start the day with a walking tour of the historical center, covering all the must-see outdoor sights. We’ll admire the iconic Ponte Vecchio, the leather market and rub the nose of Il Porcellino for good luck.

Traveler Tips

Wear good walking shoes, it is a long day on the feet!
If you’re an art lover or have abundant time to spend, it is definitely a must, but for the layperson, you don’t have to feel like you’re missing a ton if you skip the Uffizi.
We highly recommend this tour but it does make for a very long day so be prepared.

Daniella brings Florence to life!
Tania_D, Feb 2023
Daniella is the best tour guide we have had. Her command of history was very impressive. She knew her history art and architecture. I would love to take more tours with her.
Colosseum Tour

Wonderful guide named Asim. He was super knowledgeable. We went during the afternoon, so it was a bit crowded, he said morning tour was less, but regardless, we were able to see everything and capture some great pictures. We had a baby in stroller, there is an elevator for access into everything.

Nothing extraordinary to say as we should have gone on our own since there was no guide at the Uffizi gallery
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Hello George, Thank you for leaving us a review on Viator. While we're happy that you enjoyed some aspects of your tour, we apologize that you could not enjoy more value from your experience in Florence with us. Our Florence Half Day Tour provides you with an expert guide for the Accademia portion of the tour and then gives you the freedom to explore the Uffizi on your own accord. We understand if you would have preferred your guide to accompany you for both parts of the tour, and we will be looking into this in the future. Thank you for your valued feedback, George. Kind regards, Edgar J. from City Wonders
Sarah was great

Sarah did an amazing job with our walking tour. Lots of information, very good pace. Interacted with group when ever there were questions.
Best trip ever!
Michael_A, Oct 2022
Florence is amazing. Seeing David, the churches and the Madechi place. The hills and the Pitti Place. I only wish we had stayed longer.
Thumbs Up for Tour
Erin_A, Oct 2022
At first. I was disappointed to find we were only seeing the outside of the Uffizi Gallery. I also thought the four hour day would be four consecutive hours, not broken into two tours with two plus hours separating them. Maybe I misunderstood it, but others were also confused. So be forewarned. Also be reassured: you do have entry to the Uffizi, in the second half of the tour (mine was unguided, so just a ticket for free roaming. You can get a radio recording for six euros inside.) The first half of the tour was actually a walking tour of Florence, with a very knowledgeable guide (the best gelato shop?! where Mona Lisa lived?!) So excellent and worth the sore feet. Then of course the magnificent David and unfinished statues of Michelangelo and other works. The Uffizi was splendid, but the entry was damnable. Going down several stairways, then up even more staircases, I still don’t know why such a ghastly entrance. Anyway, the art is magnificent. (Then the exit, delayed for an hour by someone falling down the stairs, led through a gift shop and Timbuktu til I was almost in tears, making IKEA seem logical.)
Good tour for first time visitors to Florence and to visit two of its busiest attractions by skipping the queue.
Peter_A, Sep 2022
Skip the line tickets are worthwhile as the queues and crowds are incredible. Uffizi tour is self guided, meaning you collect your skip the line ticket(s) and you're on your own. Tour guide was OK but didn't always seem to effectively engage/communicate with the group.
Only 1/2 a tour.
Balwinder_S, Aug 2022
The morning part was fine and was very well done and planned. However, when arriving at the afternoon tour for the uffizi at 3.30pm, the tour guide said I’m not on there group, although showing them my booking confirmation and tickets. No replies from citywonder at all.
Great historical tour
Lucy_S, Aug 2022
It was a very nice tour we found that we had our best experiences on the group tours. You learn so much about the city. One thing to realize on this tour because you don’t see the uffizi in the morning you just meet there then you have a break and meet back there in the afternoon. I wish the tickets would have been given to us at the time that we separated as we never made it back on time to meet the Guide. Otherwise it was a very great tour
Knowledgeable
Richard_F, Aug 2022
Tour guide was really good. Knowledgeable and clear when they were speaking. She really took the time.
Annette is the best!!
Lynn_L, Aug 2022
Annette was marvelous. So many facts told via stories about Florence and the area we toured. So interesting. Kept the experience moving, was respectful of the time and was concerned with our well-being(Very hot day).
Misleading Uffizi tour
Debbie_F, Aug 2022
Very disappointed in Uffizi Museum tour The whole group thought it was a guided tour, it was not. They just gave use tickets and we were on our own The walking tour in the AM was well worth it though. Excellent tour guide, wish I remembered her name.
I’ve been to Florence...
Chavel, Jul 2022
I’ve been to Florence several times and on this occasion I was sharing the experience with my nephew. The tour of the sites was good but just felt that the guide was just okay.
We really enjoyed this...
Chris_G, Jul 2022
We really enjoyed this tour! Annabetta was so knowledgeable. We came away with a much better understanding of Florence's history and what makes the David statue so impressive. We appreciated the individual headsets that were distributed, which made it much easier to hear our guide as she navigated us through the city as well as inside the Accademia, where there were many other people surrounding David. The scheduled entrance to the Uffizi was really nice, although we wish we had a little more time to get through it all. There is so much there and we were probably a little too leisurely with our time at the beginning because we ended up having to rush through the last few exhibits since the museum was closing-we almost missed the Caravaggio works at the end of the gallery. All in all, this was a great way to see these two impressive art galleries.
Most horrible tour ever,...!!!
Andreas_G, Jul 2022
Most horrible tour i ever had in my life!!! It was called a half day tour, after 1,5hours we arrived at the Accademia Gallery, the tour guide got the entrance tickets, collected the radios and explained the the tour is over and have fun insede the gallery! This is what you call a half day tour,...??? When i booked the tour over the phone the operator explained to me very much different how the tour will go and that it will take half a day! In my opinion half a day is at least 5-6hours but not after 1,5hours everything is technically over (30min to get into the gallery)! Accademia Gallery Other hand your charged 94Euros for 90min,... Thats a rip off!!! From the beginning you can feel that the lady tour guide is doing the least the get quick to the gallery so her job is done,...!! To be honest, I never will recommend VIATOR Tours to anyone!!! Until today i feel so cheated from you!!!!
Easy Access to Accademia and Uffizi
Andrew_F, Jul 2022
When I booked this tour I imagined a guided tour inside the museums. This is not a tour that includes that. Having said that, this tour gave a great walking tour of the outside areas in the piazza vecchio and an in introduction to the Accademia and the Uffizi. The tour provided tickets and entry without terrible lines. If I come back to Florence I might do a guided tour in the Uffizi. It is large and crowded. After two and a half hours we were exhausted even though we wanted to see more. As a first visit, this tour was excellent, but I get that you need to see the museum more than once. The audio is very limited and only a few pieces have descriptions via the device. There is a three hour break between the two museums which was an opportunity for a leisurely lunch. The take home for booking this tour: 1) Easy access to both premier museums; 2) A guided tour of the piazza vecchio which was excellent; 3) no guide within the musuems; 4) a refreshing break between museums; 5) The Uffizi is immense, crowded, and you can't see everything; and 6) The Accademia is easily seen without a guide and you can see the whole museum in this visit.
We booked for a 6 hours...
iona_s, Jun 2022
We booked for a 6 hours tour including the Academia and the Uffizzi, and we were given a 2 hours tour with a ticket for the Academia. The tour was advertised for a Mx 6 people and in fact accepted over 12 people. No instructions given as to where the tour meets unless I called to inquire. Iona Sebastian
Guide didn't show, no call, only partial refund :(
Sabrina_A, Jun 2022
We were 15 minutes late arriving to Florence (due to a late disembarkation from our cruise ship that was no fault of our own), and despite informing Viator, the tour left without us. We asked if we could meet them at the Accademia, and it was very challenging to try to coordinate through Viator with the guide. We ultimately did find them and got in with the tour, but he literally just gave us tickets and sent us in by ourselves. We were told to meet the next guide several hours later at the Uffizi. We and several others waited where we were told and the guide never showed. I finally called the company and was told the trip was cancelled because of the Ufizzi had canceled our tickets and had no more for the day. We promptly went inside and were told that was not the case, paid (again) for our tickets and explored the museum for what was left of the day. Sadly, we could have spent an additional several hours in the museum had we not waited for the guide that never showed. It really ruined the experience for us, especially since that was the main attraction my parents wanted to visit. To top it off, we were only partially refunded, and not even the cost of our Ufizzi tickets.
Day in Florence
Donna_J, May 2022
This was a good tour and we learned alot about history and the Florence area. My only concern is that the tour is split in 2 parts and it was not entirely clear how the afternoon at Uffizi was supposed to go. It worked out fine but we did have to ask at the end of the morning session to find out the time and confirm the meeting spot.
Need better instructions
Elizabeth_L, May 2022
Was told it would be a guided tour of the Academia but it was not. Was not informed of how to get the Uffizi part of the tour. Very disappointed. Guide was good, but company should have followed up in writing on where and when to meet for the Uffizi.
