What To Expect

Your tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll hop aboard your coach and journey west to Pisa with your local guide.

Arrive at the central square of Piazza dei Miracoli, and hop out to explore by foot. Your guide will lead you on a walking tour past the Baptistery, where you can admire its mixture of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. Afterward, head to the city’s iconic attraction: the UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower of Pisa. Originally intended as a bell tower to accompany the Duomo, hear how the monument began its famous tilt in the 12th century.

Head inside the stunning Duomo cathedral to study the carved pulpit, a masterwork of medieval sculpture, as well as other features of the ornate interior. Then soak up some free time to explore on your own.

After reuniting with your guide, continue to the city of Lucca, one of the lesser-known jewels of Tuscany and home to an impressive collection of Etruscan ruins and Renaissance architecture.

Take off on a walking tour of the city, following your guide to see the Piazza dell ‘Anfiteatro, Lucca Cathedral and Guinigi Tower as you hear tales of their history. Treat your taste buds with a sample of buccellato, Lucca’s ring-shaped cake, before exploring independently for a bit.

Your day trip will conclude with drop-off back in central Florence.

Pisa was excellent but disappointed with Lucca. Lucca was not what I expected. Beware that the coaches do not have toilets which surprised me.

The guide at Pisa was wonderful. She was engaging and informative. The Lucca guide was good. The original guide that met us on the bus could have walked slower and checked periodically behind her for folks who could not go as fast. At one point she was almost two blocks ahead of me and had no clue I was that far away. I feel That a good leader should be aware Of everyone in a group. Stopping every so often to look behind her would have been helpful.

Our guide Sarah in Pisa was witty and fun. Gave us plenty of history and information, but not so much as to bore us. Our guide in Lucca was obviously new. Very dry, face and figures I would never remember, and I just stopped listening. While Pisa was just the right amount of walking -though be aware that the bus parking is quite a distance if you have ambulatory issues - Lucca required too much walking at the end of the day. Would have loved to see Lucca on a day all of its own.

Piza and Luca were very interesting places. The guides and the driver were very accommodating and knowledgeable. I would love to give it a five but I can’t. The listing on the site said that we would be travelling on a fully equipped coach but it wasn’t. Fully equipped means washroom. A call before the trip verified this. This is the second time that the Viator site made a mistake.

It was a great experience and the tour guides gave us really helpful info - restaurant recommendations in the cities, good photo spots, and a tour of the whole city. Was a great day of exploring and both guides were delightful!! Pisa has many good restaurants so was easy to have a wonderful meal and still see the sights before heading to Lucca. Also had plenty of time after the enchanting tour of Lucca to sit and relax with an adult beverage. Was a very educational day at a very relaxing pace.

Trip to Pisa was good. Both the local guides at Pisa and Lucca were friendly and knowledgeable, but personnally we didnt like Lucca as much. Pisa+ seina would have been better for us. But overall we got plenty of free time after our guided tours for food, rest and exploration on our own. Note: long lines to buy tickets to get inside the tower, baptisery and basilica, IF possible buy them ahead or use the time to enjoy a nice sit down meal.

I am afraid that I can’t remember the names of our driver and our leader, but they were both excellent. Our driver who navigated us through the traffic, and our leader who always kept an eye on us and made sure that we knew where to meet, how much time we had at each place and gave us excellent commentary in English and Spanish. It was an excellent day trip on March 23rd,2023.

The first tour guide and the one who stayed with us through the day was very good and knowledgeable. She was able to answer any questions we had. We had both English and Spanish speakers in our group. When the guide would give info in English, the Spanish speakers could take pictures and vice versa. We split up with our own English speaking guide in Lucca, and he was very good too. We had ample time in both places to explore ourselves, take photos, grab a bite, etc. I even had enough time in Pisa to climb the tower.

It was fascinating to see the leaning tower, and the beautiful church. We didn't opt for the lunch but it wasn't hard to find a nice place to eat nearby. Lucca was interesting and very worthwhile. It seemed quiet at first but I couldn't believe what a wonderful shopping strip they have. It can be tiring seeing the usual souvenir stalls but this place has everything. I was particularly looking for clothes for my two grandchildren. They had a fantastic childrens clothing shop and show shop.

This is a tour for Spanish and Portuguese speaking tourists. I guess I missed that when I booked this tour. Everything was scattered and rushed because they don't know where to focus. A different tour guide in each town. Pisa is a tower and a beautiful cathedral that could have been covered in 90 minutes and then head to the gem which is Luca. More time with lunch should have spent here. Need to go back on our own not on a tour.

I booked an English tour, however what we got was a Spanish tour with English as a second language! Not what I booked at all! The local guides where fine, especially Ricardo in Pisa. We booked the lunch option, which was in a garden restaurant and was lovely. Really enjoyed Pisa and Lucca. However, the day for us was was spoilt by having to listen to Andrea speaking in Spanish and Portuguese.....the bus trip was just so loud!

We loved seeing the leaning tower of Pisa but we don’t feel the tour guide was explicit enough with telling you the area she was meeting you in. We signed up for an English tour and the guide had to speak 3 different languages for all participants. This was hard to follow for us.

It was a great day and Sandro was a fantastic guide and the local guide in Pisa was amazing. The local guide in Lucca was less great - felt rushed and like she was simply repeating information like a robot. Our driver, Angela, was fantastic. I only wish we had more free time in Pisa. The free time was looped in with lunch so we didn’t actually have that much free time.

Most unprofessional tour guide ever. Pisa was a nice venue, as was Lucca. Guide’s English was heavily accented, he shared very little information while on the bus ride, offered no help to people exiting the bus, ranted in Italian continuously to the bus driver during the bus rides, & offered a very lackluster thank you at the conclusion of the tour.

the bus ride was pleasant and comfortable. the tour guides on the bus and in each location had a ton of knowledge about the places as well as the historical information. they were so friendly and helpful when questions were asked as well. truly loved experiencing Pisa and Lucca this way. had a wonderful day with my son and that's what mattered!! would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to see Pisa and Lucca (which i didnt know about until i booked the tour).

In Pisa the distance from the bus drop off to the Cathedral grounds was painfully long. Most of the tourists were tired or suffering from the heat by the time of arrival.

The first part of the tour in Pisa was very good. The guide who organised the group was great, and our guide in Pisa was informative. The second half of the day in Lucca was a slight disappointment. There were no comfort breaks which made a lot of the group uncomfortable throughout the afternoon. The guide was pleasant the pace of her tour was disjointed.

We didn’t find the meeting point very clear - asked a local for directions as google maps struggled. Seeing the Pisa complex was great. Be aware entry into the tower is not included. We did the lunch option - would not recommend this - food average (basic lasagne, salad and tub of ice cream). Would have rather spent the time walking on the walls around Pisa. Lucca was lovely. Guide very knowledgeable about the history and buildings. Free time there was great. Recommend paying to walk up one of the towers for great overview of the city. Buying gelati ourselves was much tastier than the cake sample provided.
