What To Expect

Your tour will begin with pickup at your hotel in Florence, accompanied by your own private guide. Relish the personalized attention during your walking tour of the city center where you’ll first admire the Basilica di San Lorenzo, the church of the Medici family.

Stroll to the Piazza del Duomo for a glimpse of the cathedral and the Brunelleschi Dome along with Giotto’s Bell Tower and Saint John’s Baptistery with its Gates of Paradise.

Further on, you will reach the bustling Piazza della Signoria. Soak up the famous square’s open-air sculptures, the towering Palazzo Vecchio, and the activity from the area’s shops and restaurants. Nearby is the prominent Uffizi Gallery, one of the world’s most significant museums.

Upon reaching the Mercato del Porcellino, your guide points out the Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market) and its bronze fountain of a wild boar, called Little Pig.

Continue with a walk across the famed Ponte Vecchio, stretching over the scenic Arno River. This medieval bridge was initially occupied by butchers, but now hosts a wide array of jewelry shops and art dealers. Your walking tour concludes at the Pitti Palace from where you can continue exploring on your own.

As this is a private tour, your guide can highlight any special interests (architecture, art, history, literature) as you go. Please list your requests at the time of booking. Please note that the order of the visits may change.

Florence - I’m in love
Kimberly_H, Jan 2023
Our guide, Ilana was incredible. You can walk the city on your own and think it’s beautiful, but if you want to have details constantly pointed out that tie together the rich history of Florence, go with Ilana. It was a fascinating day and we feel like we truly appreciate the city, the art, architecture, history and whimsical facts so much better. Plus, she’s one of the nicest humans we have ever met. Just a beauty soul who truly loves her city.
Excellent tour

A walk through history

Meritxell, our guide, gave us a great personalized tour. The Medici family history was the thread for walking us through the main places in Florence including main palaces and churches but avoiding the crowds. Great experience !
Fabulous Guide, Fabulous Florence!

DISSAPPOINTED!
Arthur_G, Sep 2022
Did not go into all of the so called admissions listed. Only went into 3. Never entered cathedrals. I wish our tour had a minimum of entry/ admissions as this evaluation is asking. Have sent an email but have not heard back
Great tour for adults.

Great detail. Guide was somewhat hard to understand. I brought my family. Guide was boring for the kids. I would't recommend this for kids.
So what is there?

Seeing things that are out of the way and the significance of what happened there and how it affected current events

First-hand view of the Renaissance
Darryl_C, Sep 2021
Simona took us around all of historical Florence, from the Duomo to the Ponte Vecchio to the medieval guild halls. We got to see the transformation of Florence into the heart of the Renaissance and saw where Dante, Michelangelo, and Da Vinci transformed the world. We also got a flavor for what the lives of the "common people" of Florence were like. Thank you Simona!
Great way to see Florence

We had a private walking tour, our guide was very informative and knew her Florence history very well. A great start to our stay and we have since found ourselves very much at ease.
Worth it.

Gabriel was fun, engaging, and full of information. He was careful to not overtax our family group. I would go again.
Great Tour With Ilaria
Henri M, Sep 2018
We were on our 5th trip to Florence and learned more from Ilaria in just a few hours than all previous trips combined. Best walking tour in Florence is with Ilaria Lucaccioni. She was extremely knowledgeable on both historical and political info as she was on artistic and architectural information. It was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire group. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Florence

Excellent tour!!! Enough cultural information for the short trip. I would advise choosing a smaller group tour if possible. Guide was fun.

ILLYA Y, May 2017
We were met by the guide, Valentina, outside our centrally-located apartment. She was very friendly and down-to-earth. We began by casually strolling through the streets and some famous plazas, and Valentina casually discussed architecture and history. She touched on topics like the Medici family, the importance of the religious structures, and the various pre- and post-Renaissance art styles and techniques. Overall, it felt like having a good friend who was a local give us a tour of her city which for us was perfect. Valentina was definitely highly expert as sometimes she went into details which, frankly, went a little over our heads but she always made sure to ask us if we could relate or understand what she talked about before continuing. We learned a lot from her, and even stopped by a cafe for a quick coffee during the tour. She was also kind to recommend some restaurants and gelato, and extend her contact information should we have and questions or need any help for the remainder of our time in Firezne. Thanks, Valentina!

We asked for a history-focused tour and could not have been happier with our guide, Laura. It was an enriching and very enjoyable experience. I would recommend Laura very highly.

Gabriel was a great tour guide. We had only a few hours in Florence and he packed lots into our 3 hour tour. Not only was he knowledgeable about Florence, everyone seemed to know him - obviously a fixture in the town. Our goal was to see as much of Florence as we could in 3 hours and Gabriel really delivered.
