Formerly a 14th-century hospital and then a fine art school, the Accademia Gallery now showcases top works of art by the likes of Botticelli, Andrea Orcagna and, most famously, Michelangelo.

Skip the long lines outside the Accademia Gallery and step straight inside with your direct-access ticket. Wander the museum at your own pace, stopping to admire Michelangelo’s unfinished San Matteo sculpture, as well as his Prigioni, where four prisoners attempt to free themselves from the confines of the marble.

Then, head over to the Gallery’s main attraction: Michelangelo’s 17-foot (5.17-meter) sculpture of David. Admire the lifelike contours of the marble figure’s muscles and veins, completed when the artist was only in his twenties.

Afterward, check out the onsite Museum of Musical Instruments, where an impressive collection of stringed instruments are exhibited. Paintings by other Renaissance greats, such as Botticelli and Filippino Lippi, are also on display for you to peruse. Depart the Accademia whenever you wish.

Couldn’t find the person with the tickets. A fellow tourist helped us. Without him we would have missed our time slot. We will never use your “service” again

We waited 20 minutes for the resin who was suppose to meet us with our tickets. Then we had to wait 30 minutes to get in. Not exactly skipping the line.

It was great that the Caf guide got our tickets for our entry. An easy and smooth transition in a hectic area. Seeing David is a MUST. Amazing sculpture.

Don't tour with viator mid eastern people in italy

Our tour guide met us at an assigned location and gave us our tickets at which point they told us that was all that they were required to do. We would have done as well buying our tickets from the museum. I think they were Pakistani or Indians. Buy your tours from locals. Viator did poorly on this.

Walking towards the museum and there was already a sizable line. We were unsure of where to meet up for our skip the line ticket and out of nowhere a lovely person guided us to the right location. Quick look at our scanned ticket on phone and we were in the museum in about 5 minutes! Fantastic!

Was so great to skip the line to get into the Accademia! There is such a long line to get in plus the heat. Definitely worth doing if you are planning on visiting while in Florence!

Tour guide was fantastic. She knew a lot about the history of the sites. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the city and I greatly enjoyed it

Better than waiting in line

How to get the tickets wasn’t clear before we arrived. After asking the guard, he pointed us to a man who had our name on a list. Not sure how we were supposed to know that without asking around. The statue of David is spectacular. The rest of museum was soso.

Worth the money.

It is a relatively limited museum and could be overlooked because of time constraints. But when I spend thousands of dollars to visit Florence the cost of seeing David is worth the money and time saved.

Great collection of arts! You feel the real story of Florence and it’s artists! Statue of David is unreal, but the collection of paintings are as good as it gets!

It was lovely to not have to wait in a long line. Seeing the “David” was certainly a highlight. Couldn’t leave Florence without seeing that!! We also liked having the audio to tour with.

Well worth it. Once we found where to redeem the tickets (Google maps didn't help) it was seamless getting in and making our way around

Seeing Michelangelo's David sculpture in real life was an amazing event! While the museum itself is smaller than I thought, there was much to see!
